Vampire calling.
I was wondering what part of vampirism your really drawn too?
Deep down past the draining of energy from sexual events, my main deep set thought is…
Personally im drawn to the love aspect of the mythical vampire, it hits home hard that one feels so in love with someone you cant be with anymore that your love transcends the grave. I totally identify with that aspect of the vampire.
One keeps looking ( in the stories iv read) for your departed loved one over century’s, till you find her again and have to win her back even if you are a monster from the crypt limited to night calls.
Please more than one lines like “I drink blood coz im a vampire” it really hurts my brain to read drive by post.
Haha! Lavisbre, "drive-by posts" what an apt label for it!
For me, I am drawn to the dark world of Vampires because of my lust in the fictional aspect of Vampires also. I adored reading as many novels on the subject as I could, and watched every major film also :)
For vampirism in a hollywood sense, it's not so much the love aspect but the romantic tragedy of it all.
In a real, modern day vampire aspect, it's the closeness and bonding.
I have a real sensitivity to the sun. It has always bothered me. So I guess that is what drew me in to the vampire life style at first.
some people are drained to the vampireism baced on the thirll of the danger. i like it from the act of biting and the trancefor of that life from one person to the other.
I'm drawn to the romantic side of 'vampirism'. Don't be confused, I don't think vampy's exist. But in novels and fiction.
Personally there is something within me that calls, within the blood. Since I was born into something that cannot be explained or expanded upon, even after writing documetaries or autobiographies or whathaveyou.
Certain situation call for justifiable ends. Such as what you go through on a nightly basis. With those succubi of yours.
Drawn to blood ties is a matter of personal affair, not sure how to explain it. Not sentimental, but an inner deeper feeling that I know my blood cries out to others of which I speak to on a daily basis. You may consider this an off shoot of a soulmate path, or your first answer.
I know what and who I am. It is not me, it is something deep within me that lets me know I am I. It was not by choice, but by...If I may be so bold, pre-destination. A path of heredity and birth that brought this calling forth.
Somethings are harder to explain than others even if you put them into books or try to explain them with symbols. I hope you understand.
hmm im a hopeless romantic, so i can say im drawn to the idea of being able to spend an eternity with the woman i love.
Immortality, the power that goes with it, and the travel.
I am drawn to the power a vampire holds, the immortality and the romantic side as well. The complete mystery of it all holds my attention also. Being able to visit all the places I have longed to see. The biting and drawing of blood seems erotic to me.
I am drawn to the solitary lifestyle. Being alone through time yet having the freedom to learn & watch the human race evolve through different cultures. I also find the power erotic & have always had a strange obsession with blood since I was a child. I love to spend time in the dark to try & heighten my other senses as I believe we have become too dependent in electricity!
Well I have always loved the idea of the fictional vampire because, well, the immortality. Being able to live on and survive no matter what obstacles you may face...and ofcourse the strength, have the strength to deal with these said obstacles. The detachment, I guess that could also be called the solitary life style. Not becoming attached to any one, unless ofcourse you're the romantic type that falls for someone and makes them immortal to. I don't know...this list could go on, the very thought of the fictional vampire intrigues me, I mean I know they don't exist, but they're still very fascinating. I can't really explain why but they are...
I'm a romantic too. I also love the idea of immortality and power
The whole vampire package draws me in but the kindred society is what keeps me in.
i would have to go with the sexualilty and the lust way of the vampire aspect but also drawn to it bec i love being in the night hate the day all the normal stuff
I would have to say the romantic aspect is the biggest draw for me though there are others. But to think of finding someone you can love that you know needs you as much as you need them (as most novels read) seems a very good thing to me.
*love the "drive by posts" comment!
i would have to say the sexualtiy of darkness,, i growing up was not much into bing out side during the day,, mostly because i had so many eye surgerys that the light hurt me,, the hunt i like to hunt ,, i dont mean animals with a gun,, but to hunt people watch them lol
Dabbler -
Even the killing part that sometimes occurs =P
lavisbre > you old romantic you lol.....actually I enjoy the Hollywood Vampires for the same reason.
I am also interested in the cause and possible healing via the individuals enegy field in Psi vampires.
I can't say for sure why I'm drawn to it. Perhaps because the stories, movies, etc scared the shit out me when I was really young. I mean I was terrified to go sleep at night because vampires might come to my window. Of course I out grew that.
I guess I am drawn to the lone part of it... as well as the "romantic" part... although I don't really know if that actually exists lol. Most of the romantic parts of vampirism that is heard are from stories and fiction stores at that... if one is to read about the true "vampires", you'd see a much more different side.... but it is romantic to think about someone would wait an eternity to be with their love again
I've always been drawn to the sexual/romantic aspects of vampires. I'm not ashamed to admit that i'm most certainly not model quality. When I start to feel truely sexual, in the back of my mind, i'm thinking of the sultry, sensual way i've seen female vampires, succubi, etc, behave. It gives me a boost to my confidence.
Beep Beep... Just driving by :-)
I've always been drawn to the sexual energy and the mystique. I've also felt that I was searching for that special person. Then when Kio and I got together, I felt complete. Like my soul finally found it's other half.
I'm drawn to the blood guts gore and death bit. Since I believe vampires to be the walking dead, I don't think they'd be too interested in romance ;)
PS: please don't give me the speech.
I guess it is the mythical aspect of it that draws me. I am a supernatural and unexplained phenomena guru, so naturally anything that is unexplained I am drawn to. I don't really know why, it's just a feeling I get when I read up on or investigate the various unexplainable cases. Vampire Lore is one of those cases, and is one that I have more of a interest in. Again I don't really know why, it is that gut feeling. The feeling is like drug, I keep wanting more.
And I really love blood...LOL..He He
I was drawn to that one wich propagates the enhancement of mental and phisical capacities trough the consumption of blood. More quality energie, faster evolution.
I have always been drawn to mysteries, discovering the truth about myths and lore, so vampires for me fall into my 'interests' spectrum as they are certainly mysterious plus there is no smoke without fire.
for Me it is mixture of three things: love like you said in your thread, the dark sensuality of it all and the blood drinking.
I guess the thing that calls me is the pagentry, the art, the story behind it all
I mean you look the way i do and it like a lonely man looking for the right woman tasting as he goes by seeing if "SHE" is the right one
I believe that my calling to vampirism came from my love of the taste of blood and the darker aspects of things.
Well, it is a combination of things for me. First I was drawn as a child to the movie genre vampire and later by the books.
Thinking about exactly what was so enticing - it would have to be that you can't get old, you can't die, you could actually make a loved one a vampire and thus, cheat death to truly have eternal love. Also, I happen to like the fact that you could weed out society by feeding on those who are considered "socially unacceptable" ex: rapists, murderers, child molesters....
The only callings..that make me very aware or feel
the need to vamp-out or to grow in a hunger,
is the calling of the songs and chants that the
high elders sing.That..and the dark nights as well.
and maybe a stray hot male vamp.;D
Amaltheia -
What about a vampire romance horror comedy?
Hollywood just can't capture what an author writes or what an individual reader takes from the author. An imagination is a powerful tool. I thought that Anne Rice's vampires were the cream of the crop ... well hell theres a larger world out there and they are full of lust!
I really love the relationship that a vampire has with it's mate. The "one on one" and Chivalry to the highest and protector. It's I guess what you envision your ideal mate in real life to be: companion, lover and sexual slave all wrapped into one hot package with a bit of kink.
*check my journal for book lists*
Daemona - I always liked that vigilante aspect, as well. Vampire as super Sheriff, black cape and a white hat, so to speak.
The Myth, Passion, So on...about everything...It is almost mystifying to me...
the same that a lot of the posts here say.... the dark romance that surrounds the fictional vampire/vampyre draws you in and doesn't let go. It's as much of an addiction as this site.
For me, I am drawn to the monster part as well at the beauty and love aspect.
For example, the monster part being that vampires can be cruel, calculating, and kill without regret.
For the beauty and love aspect, the fact that a vampire can bond so closly with someone, and that to me is beautiful without measure
The mythology, lore, immortality, the using of power; and of course, the romanticisim of the vampire.
Like a lot of you, I am drawn to the romantic elegance of a vampire.
I'm also more drawn to the dark mystery of it all... The responsibility of power one gets with the "dark gift."
I am also drawn the the internal struggle: Will I be good? Just exist in the world, from century to century? Or will I be evil? Taking advantage of the weaknesses of humans, and hunt them mercilessly?
I too am drawn by the romanticisim that vampires drive. What's more romantic then either waiting and searching for your long lost true love or being by his side for eternity as undead lovers?
For me it was not a choice, i have had an idea that i am one since early childhood, did i try to fight it? yes but it won. To tell you what part intrest me would be the healing aspect knowing i can help my kind is very inportant to me
Iam drawn to the mystery and romance surounding the books and movies .
when i first started have "psy" issues like putting my mom to sleep over the telephone lol, i looked into what could cause such a thing, i always liked vampire stuff, as much as the next person in terms of general fasination but i didnt put the 2 together initially.
I love the romantic aspect of the mythical Vampire. I also relate to the inner struggle that all immortals must battle with, deciding withing themselves what is good and what is evil... which is predominant in the Anne Rice novels. On top of all that, I see the vampire as a symbol of embracing one's own 'darker half'... another thing that draws me in.
First of all.. love the "drive-by-post" comment! LMAO!
As for what draws me to the culture.. I think the romantic side is part of it, but also it is how much my daily life resembles the traits.. I have terrible trouble sleeping at night and yet want to drag through my day, I am of fair skin and not a friend of the sun, I was actually born with honest-to-goodness fangs.. and I guess it is more "cool" to think of myself as a vampire than a geek!! ;-)
I think the romantic side of Vampirism. I have always been fascinated with the culture and lore and the history of Vlad of course. The stories that go along with all of this are usually mixed with love, and love lost and death - therefore bringing the romance into it. The blood calling is stronger in some than in others... depends on what you believe I suppose. I just wish I could meet someone in person who is truely what they say they are and not fakes.
THought this would be a good place to ask if any of you have read the Anita Blake Novels??
They perked my interest in Vampires back up long ago when she started publishing them..
I love the Ann Rice novels as well. They really personalize the ways of the vampire. These novels make a lot of sense in that to be immortal one would have to become close to other immortals so as not to lose one's sense of time and place in the world. I think this also brings out the demon side in all of us. Would we continue to take blood from the living to survive even when to do so means losing our souls? I think so YES!!!
Well as far as the community its just wanting to be with people who don't make fun of you and are like, well should say similarly minded because there is a large range of different opinons.
The novelistic vampire can be anything and many times to keep it interesting and give some sort of plot there is a love theme put into it; a driving force for the plot and what better theme. The vampire who searches through time to regain his lost love or find the love that he or she never found in life. It's dark romance with the ideal of living together forever. You might get sick of that person after a few centuries, lol.
I 'll break my long silence on this one...
Vampirism itself does not draw me at all on it's own.
I am simply a child of the dark of night, I prefer the cold clear moonlight to a sunny summers day, the dark neverending starry expanse over a sea of blue and islands of cloud.
I feel completely comfortable sitting outside looking in as the saying goes, sitting up on a rooftop watching the people all scurry about their daily toils, knowing that I like them am little more than wormfood and their struggles for the next ipod, the newer car, the next new cellphone will get them no further in life than I will get sitting back idly watching their antics.....
it is the night which calls to me, not the creatures within it, although I suppose that on it's own would mark me out as one of their number
Drawn,I have been drawn my whole life to the vampyric life since I was a child,I never could understand it nor did I try until a few years ok,I am drawn to more of the ages vampire than the modern.Yours eyes are open to a whole new light, the way you see, smell and hear, the way your life is turned from to death to embrace death yet you can walk with death, the sexual aspects are very appealing,it really just opened my eyes to a whole better way of life
To tell the truth, I don't know why I am drawn to it. It mirrors my lifestyle and I can feel it calling to me, but who knows where it comes from? So in a sense, I have no idea. But I have always been comfortable with the idea, as though it's always been a part of me.
The first thing that probably drew me to Vampires/Vampirism is my mom and Anne Rice. My mom was awesome, she taught me alot of stuff and even gave me a book thats called "Spells on how to become a Vampire." I've read it but most of it is in Latin and it's hard cuz the only other language I can speak in French >.
I am with you...its the love aspect and the romantic tragedy of it all. I too read everything I can get my hands on! I would if I had to search forever for my one true soul mate...and fight like hell for him!
Indeed … that fragile fate of finding the one whom completes you can also be taken away in this cruel arena we call life.
Personal if there is a maker of this damnation then I plan to be cursed for I don’t agree with the politics or the running of it’s invention …. I refuse to except the denial of love that makes my very existence worth while.
For me the mystery that vampires posess.Im also drawn to the romance ,passion and blood lust they have .
i'm drawn to the rush of power that you feel when you pull energy from people and the elements around you. but, i know that *that* is not necessarily a "vampiric" trait although psi vampires do as thus.
i'm drawn to the mystery, the allusions to "eternal life", when in reality all vampires that i have met, the true ones, just have extended lives....they still die as we do.
Im mostly drawn to the mutilation of each other during love making.. I find it kinky.. heh. ;] And I dont mean cutting of each other unless that's one way you choose to get your blood. I mean biting, scratching, etc.
I am drawn to the way of life. I love the night and the darkness that comes with it. I love the power and energy I get from drinking blood. I don't think I would ever want an alternative lifestyle.
I think people get too caught up in the fictional vampire and in the historical vampire of superstition and those and the real world just simply are not the same. Some are so caught up in that mystery and romance that they dress this way and some are just people who want to either live a lifestyle or pretend on weekends or they are what they say and that is their way of uniqueness and identity and the signs of the times that connect with other cultures such as Goth.
I don't like the term dark to describe someone who is vampyric because not all of them are alike nor are they into other subculture viewpoints. They come from every walk of life and you could walk right past one and if y ou were not one would never know generally. If someone is dark then that is their natural state and negates the word and if it is being used because they like the night in the case of a reverse in circadian rhythm then that again is a natural state and negates the whole thing. You cannot qualify that unless you label others something else. It may be the nature to be more into the night and attracted to other than mainstream interests but why does that make one dark if that is your natural proclivity. It just makes you...YOU.
I personally identify with "behind the eyes" and have since I was tiny.
im not really sure what attracts me to the vampire part of the world, but all i can say is that is probably because its something not everyone in the world would even dare to sit down and look at, and not have a prejudged opinion about it or maybe im attracted to it, like it was stated before, i can relate to certain parts of vampirism......
I would want to be a vampire to all ways stay looking this age and healing from anything
The sensuality of it. The taste. The sort of forbidden, taboo nature of it.
what i think of the case of vampirism is the sheer fact that something about the night and the fact that when 2 vampires do fall in love that love is eternal and cannot die and sensual in a manner for the sake that when a vampiress feeds she draws the life of another into herself and with that all thier faults and triumphs and yet all thier sadnesses and pains everything comes into you like you become one with your victim ya know?
I think I'll go out on a limb and assume that most members of VR tend to associate themselves with the archetype of the anti-hero, rather than the hero. There is something overwhelmingly seductive about being the hunter and the hunted at the same time; to be capable of monstrous acts, and delicate passion in one instant. Conventional morality never made much sense to me. At some point, in a moment of contempt and deep sorrow, I turned on the "system." When that happens, all the dark corners open up for you, along with their thrilling possibilities and dreadful consequences. You leave Glinda behind for the Wicked Witch, and you're glad to do it. You toss the fruit down, strut out of Eden, and look forward to your adventures, with the protection of only yourself, and your convictions. I've experienced some pretty damn dreadful consequences, but when all is said and done, I'm content in the knowledge I'm more alive now than I was then.
Since I am a silly overly-romantic person, I was drawn to the immortal love theory. I truly believe that true love does not die, that it is reborn over and over. And there are no promises that this life will be the one, where that love is found again. But hope springs eternal, does it not?
And yes the calling, as some refer to that gentle tug of the soul. That continues to pull at me sometimes. I "hear" others of my kind calling to me.Sometimes it is a comfort and sometimes painful. But it is that link that binds us together. Even if I don't ever find that person who calls, I know someone like me exists. That I am not alone, and maybe he will find me.
My appeal to Vampires is the context and referal to them in books and movies..even in music...
I think everyone has their own opinions and I like to see and hear those opinions..the thoughts of others is entertainment and I suppose that the entertainment factor is what is appealing...
As for real vampires I still am in doubt they exsist.
The dark elegance and poise of the mythical vampire is enough to bring me to my knees. That mystique is remarkable...
Why do I need a calling to be who and what I am? It's just natural for me.
Yeh it is to all of us it’s our calling (a phrase) what part is most prevalent to you, cant be it all as we don’t know what you think it all is… so please enlighten us if you would id appreciate that .
There is a certain power. Being aware of your primal side and urges as well as your "sensible" side and being able to find that medium.
I still don't see the exact meaning. I can't feel any sense of a "calling" to be myself, it's just part of my identity. But maybe I'm just thinking a tad bit too much on the overall subject and overlooking something.
is no vamp but has a love of blood but is a romantic so dunno but i find it very intresting
I think the questions is what is most attractive to you about vampires.
True for some this is just who we are.
But with that said, I'll switch it up for you.......what do you personally feel is your strongest attribute being a Vampyre.
Mine is the strong attraction I seem to give off. People can sense something different in you and on my end its something that subtley draws people to me.
"I'm attracted to vampires because I am the slayer and nothing would make me happier than putting a stake into every vampires heart. "
I'm not saying this is my personal draw, but perhaps some here do prefer to be the hero rather than the antihero. Just because you are drawn to the dark side doesn't mean that you succumb to it.
I love the aspect of the unusually strong love connections, that people of our nature tend to feel towards each other.
Also the thought of being immortal plays a part as well.....think about it, wouldn't you love to see what becomes in 50 or 100 or 1000 years, what can people accomplish, in that time.
Thats my opinion at least.
I am more of an Empathic type of sorts I think......I seem to get a lot of energy from lightening storms, raw veggys, ect. Going into the woods where there are a lot of trees makes me feel great also.
I like the fact that I could gain all the knowledge I could ever want and I could learn things better because I have a loner time to learn them. ^^b
I don't know much about vampirism but of what i know.......I would like the closeness and the romantic attraction.
I love the dark side of it..I love the blood,,draining the energy and the total secrecy
Well for me I would have to say it is the eligance of them. The reality of things that most don't think are real. It just intrigues me so much.
DarkTraveler quote:
I'll switch it up for you.......what do you personally feel is your strongest attribute being a Vampyre.
Mine is the strong attraction I seem to give off. People can sense something different in you and on my end its something that subtley draws people to me.
End quote.
******************************
Well, in that case. My strongest attribute would probably be the attraction I draw from other people as well. Some have called it a charming aspect I have or charisma. Something they sometimes can't put their finger on exactly about me that just drives them crazy with curiosity.
The things that I enjoy from the mystic of the vampire...
The darkness, always operating at night.
The brooding, always contemplating an everlasting life.
Not really feeling the blood and feeding thing, but the struggle and ebb and flow of the lust for blood is a nice touch.
_For me to thoroughly answer this question, I have to think for a moment. It's going to take me a while to establish my thoughts on this subject because, to be honest, there are many things about the vampiric life, and vampirism that I am drawn to._
_The first thing I'm drawn to is the romance. When a person thinks about the vampire, many people think about sex and what not. However, as I have read in most books concerning vampires and seen in all movies concerning vampires, vampires are not just blood thirsty creatures without out a soul. They love, and possibly better than any other creature in the world. the extent to which they love someone or something is tremendous._
_Then of course, there is the blood. Now I may sound like a freak when I say this, but I'm being totally honest with both you who read this, and myself, I am a sucker for blood. ::no pun intended:: But I'm being honest. Ever since I was a young kid, I've always loved the sight, smell, and taste of blood._
_Now we come to the darkness of it all. Normally you hear stories about how young children are afraid of the dark. They hate it! As for me, I've never been afraid of the dark, or silence. Infact, I have troubles sleeping in with any amount of light._
_As for being nocturnal, trust me, the only times I'm fully awake is at night when the moon is out and the stars shine bright. I thrive in the darkness. I can see in it, so why not be in it right?_
_Now here is where I disclose a little fact to all of you. I recently read an article speaking about how many countries, who had no way to collaborate prior to modern times mind you, had stories of vampires. Now in a few of them, I saw a constant. Vampires are obsessed with numbers, and they have to count. I'm the same way. When I met my best friend, who's name I will not give, I noticed that she had the same mentality and personality of lycans. One day, she was talking to me, and she had seeds in her hands, and she said to me, "You know...I've noticed that you seem to be vampiric in nature, what would you do if I tossed these seeds in the air?" and I said to her, I dunno, let's see. So she tossed them in the air, and immediately, I started to count them. I got up to twenty before they hit the ground, but I could tell that there were more, so I bent over and counted the rest. There were fifty-three in all. In every house I've been to, I've counted the tiles on the ceiling-if there are any-or on the floor, the stairs leading to each floor, the windows, and in my grandma's house, the clocks! I'm simply obsessed with counting things, whether it be seconds in a day, or the number of keys on my keyboard, mind you, there are 86._
_So with that said, I must say, there are plenty of reasons, despite the fact that I am simply intrigued by them as well, that I was drawn to the vampiric lifestyle._
.:~*NARI~*:.
My vampire calling is mainly sorced from the fact that they are creatures of the night. Secondly is that they are elegant and aggile creatures, thus helping us preform our deeds in the quickest stealthiest way(if needed).
I was drawn to it because of my thirst to find the truth behind such supernatural mysteries. And because vampires are one of the most human-like of the supernatural "monsters", I was particularly attracted to it.
Monsters? I must admit, I've never been called a monster myself. But the hollywood movie counterparts on the other hand. Yeah, there are some real characters there.
What attracts me to vampirism is the romanticism, power/strength and my love for the darkness.
