During the full moon I feel it is the best time to do any spell . But when there is an eclispe like tonight what kind of energy would the moon draw to u more power ? More grounding? Can I have some help with this
Hmm, that is a good question...
Unfortunately, I don't know if the eclipse would have any effect. I'd imagine it would, at least during the hour that it's taking place. I'll take a stab at answering though!
If you think about it, the eclipse is caused when the light from the moon is caught in Earth's shadow. So, if a person acts a certain way on the full moon and spells are at their peak with energy, I'd imagine that energy would be overshadowed temporarily. I'm not sure if this is accurate - I just kinda put two and two together. :)
By "overshadowed" I actually meant "withdrawn from", since the light would be taken away by the shadow. Hence forth, energy would be diminished slightly.
Only difference I feel is really jittery and jumpy today... I don't know if it has anything to do with the lunar eclipse or not. Prozac usually doesn't let me have any anxiety :p
perhaps the eclipse is having an adverse affect on the drug? I wouldn't be surprised!
I didn't think of that.
Oh wait.. hell.. I didn't take my prozac today, or any of my medications. No wonder I feel like this. I swear, I don't know where my mind is today.
That could well be it. I'm not on any of that kind of meds, but I've been really antsy today too. Hmmm.
I have always been restless and have the most vivid dreams during when the moon is waxing and especialy when it is full. A couple of police departments even have studies that show heightened activity around full moons.
I think full moons is the best time to do spells, I know when I would do it, it would have a more powerful effect, as for the lunar eclipse, I'm sure it would have more effects on it. I just don't know what.
Lunar eclipses will shake things up for the next three days, it is not a good time to work magick because it may cause the intention to flip or be of fleeting effect.
It was considered a bad omen before we knew it was a natural happening, knowing an eclipse was going to happen was a powerful knowledge used by many ancient shamans, Druids, and witches.
I agree with the eclipse idea. I think the power of the gravitational pull along with all other unseen/unknown forces cause alot of different and unexplained things to happen. More often than not really.
I believe that. All sorts of weird things have been happening all around me just recently within the last couple of days. I believe it has a lot to do with the full moon and the eclipse.
I would love to understand more of the power it creates and why so many people act like loons on these days. No one has really figured out why some people "change". Could be the vampire coming out?
I have never really known any of the full moon weirdness, but i would expect that if it is the light of the full moon, and it is covered, then there should be no effect.
It's nothing major but today I noticed that ALL day, I couldn't post in any A-Z threads. I kept posting with the wrong letter. At my age, if I don't know the alphabet i'm in trouble but it's never happened before. Today it happened at least 3 or 4 times.
Strange things happen.....but I don't know if that A-Z thing is one of them. I am talking more like emotional mood type things.
I just haven't felt able to collect my thoughts today.. like my brain can't get into gear. I know, it's stupid. I probably just have a brain fart that's stuck or something.
So glad the moon doesn't do shit for me I think it's all in the head cause we hear on movies and in books how the moon has some kind of "power" which I don't believe but others hear it or read it and think oh ok this is what is supposed to happen when the moon is full and why is only when it's full why not when it's half full or whatever it's because of stories we hear growing up lol
Because each phase of the moon affects the planet in different ways. What do you think makes the tides ebb and flow? It's gravitational pull from the moon. Our bodies are made up or 70% water, why wouldn't it affect our bodies too?
Because it doesn't do anything to me that's why I never feel any different if it's a new moon or quarter or full or whatever it's all peoples head but that's opinion and I'm entitled to it lol
The Lunar eclipse, was quite beautiful tonight! As for magical uses, I use it for calling unto the Fey for assistance and guidance...also does wonders for my tarot deck which is the Faerie deck.
Any work to be done using the dark goddess, or paying homage to her, is most powerful during the eclipse of the moon.
I feel the opposite, I feel like I am being drained and negative thoughts a popping in my head.
It effects people differently. But, it seems to have drained more energy from a wiccan friend than gaining any. I doubt it would have any postitive effect.
i was in a great mood all night ..... not sure if it was because of the eclipse or not but my cats were going nuts....
Well when I found out about it I went outside to see and I could feel energy coming from it. I don't know today I feel totally revived after almost six weekd of being down I even woke to my alarm in a good mood.
I think it would have been a good nite to cast positive spells, not negative ones.
During an eclipse is a great time to do banishing magic. As the moon is covered see that as your problem to thing you are trying to get rid of. As the shadow leaves the moon see that as your problem leaving.
The moon does seem to have a very powerful affect on people but I have also notice from talking to many people last night that the eclipse was having a more powerful affect then a normal full moon does on people. So I suppose it is possible for there to be more 'magic' in the air during an eclipse
I was born under a new moon and I think as a result I am more drawn to it than the full moon. I am unsure of how much of that is just psychological though.
seriously i have been having anxiety issues ...drained energy to the point i couldnt get out of bed.. vomiting shakiness... i been stressed out.. but for some odd reason when the moon reached at its 99% full i started feeling better ... energized. even eating.. ..and this awesome burst of energy.. I KNOW its gotta be cuz of the moon
All i know is my inner beast comes out stonger when the moon is full, i become very primal and easly angered
I guess everyone has their own stories about the moon. There most certainly truth to everyone's stories.
Most people I know prefer the full moon as it makes them feel more energized. It also has the popular and historical belief and practice that the full moon was more powerful and would enhance your craft.
I didn't even get to see it last night. I was asleep. I tried staying up to see the eclipse. I do love full moons. They make me want to go out and ride four wheelers. No lights on, just by the moon light.
Being an engineer, I like to look at things literally.
The moment that the moon is at a full eclipse is the same moment that the sun and moon are applying directly opposite gravitational forces on you.
Kind of a gravitational tug-o-war, which might explain people's confusion and disorientation. This usually happens on a full moon, but I have noticed more people having issues during the evening of the eclipse.
Just some thoughts to ponder.
does the moon acutally posses strange power or is it all just insanity
i get a rush from it..
could be just my mind doing it, who knows really what kind of affect that a full moon has on the human body.
my nature thrives on the full moon it brings out the best in me , makes me whole & complete
my week has been all scewed up... normally around the full moon it gets better, but this week not so much.... i hope you find your answer though :)
And now - for an informed response.....
Spells during the lunar eclipse. This combines the power of the full and new moon all at once. Any spell performed this night needs to be done carefully as you will be invoking the Triple Goddess in each of her forms.
Consider carefully what you wish and write it out before hand. I would strongly suggest writing your ritual on parchment in sacred ink using a "pen of art" or a sacred writing utensil.
Remember, use only consecrated tools as this is a time not only of the full moon, but of the new.
Once you have your spell written and your candles ready and your altar set up, relax, and take a nice long bath in something heavy with Jasmine. Drink a cup of Jasmine tea if possible.
*********************************
Do not reuse any candles, incense, salt or herbs that were used in this ceremony. *********************************
Take all ashes, salt and whatever else "disposable" you used and wrap in a piece of cotton or silk. Treat this as you would the ashes of a sacred fire, using them to bless an area or keeping them as a talisman.

I'm not sure, but as a lycanthrope, it feels like I'm being drained when I look at an eclipse.
Working with the public on a daily basis I find people, in general are just plain strange during a full moon. They seem to be more moody, mean, crazy or a combination of all. I don't mean everyone, of course but it is what I have observed over many years. On a personal note, I have always loved the full moon. Drawn to it, live for it. I feel more alive during a full moon and at peace with myself. I suppose that makes me sound insane huh?!
Doesn't make you sound insane at all! The moon is good for all kinds of things. Casting spells is not my cup of tea but the moon means alot to my well being. People get nuttier every day. Could be the moon..... or just life.
when the full moon is out I am completely different it does not matter who i am with i begin to embrace the supernatural world around me and run under the light of the moon.
Assuming the moon affects magicial powers then I think that yes, the full moon, eclipses etc then the spells could be more powerful.
TheLivingDeadGirl - You said in a previous post 'why not when it's half full or whatever' and I was simply responding to it. Of course everyone is allowed their opinions. Hearing (well, reading, whatever) everyone's different thoughts and opinions on a subject is part of what makes the forums interesting.
I have never felt anything before during any phase of the moon, at least not that I have ever noticed. I may not be as in tune with my body and/or senses as other people.
The full moon has been known to have a certain effect on people. I find that when there is a full moon, my emotions intensify. I have thought that perhaps it is because I am aware of the moon, but there have been times when I would act differently during the day only to find out that night that there was a full moon. I really do think it has some sort of effect on everyone.
I think eclipses do bring on mixed energies and a feeling of expectation or restlessness. Maybe there is a block in the moon's energy that we feel... not sure I have never really done any research on eclipses and how they affect us. It would be interesting to watch this thread after the eclipse and see how everyone felt during it.
Like was stated earlier in the thread, several police agencies have done studies and they showed more activity during full moons than otherwise...
For me, it is feeling more energized, my dreams are such it is hard to get into a good deep sleep and sometimes just more jittery and unfocused.
I'd love to read any articles conidering this topic. I had believed with my wiccan friend that it had no effect. A solar eclipse I thought would have an effect.
different spells require different moon phases but there are several eclipse spells that draw more power from the darkness over light not in a bad way
blessed be
You might try looking into Heliophysics ..if you do this,it might help you understand the "essence" of magic, and why certain times are more condusive to others when it comes to doing your spells and stuff.
so now that the moon is waning is it good to cast a spell to do away with negativity??
For me the eclipse means MAJOR magic . I have alot of intensity when using magic.
My friend is a wolf and i try to stay away while the moon is bright and full
Can see the moon affecting spells. Mood effects gravity, pulls on us so it could be a plus or minus. I'm edgy and more fierce.
THE FULL MOON HAS ALWAYS BEEN LUCKY NIGHTS FOR ME PERSONALLY. MAGICAL INDEED. ME AND GENO'S FIRST DATE WAS THE NIGHT OF A FULL MOON. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THE MAGIC IS HEIGHTENED AT THIS TIME.
BUT IN THE BODY......YES, THE MOON HAS AN EFFECT ON WATER RETENTION IN ME AND MOOD. BUT USUALLY THE GOOD THINGS OUT WEIGH THE BAD.
depends on the spell. some are more effctive on an eclipsed moon and some are more effective on a full. vampires, werewolves, witches, and other magic users' power is usually at it's peak on a full moon night.
There seems to be an overall consensus that spells work better then, but my question to everyone is ,is there a reason why you think a spell or casting would work better on one day or night as opposed to another?
The eclipse made me feel really....indescribable, it was really weird...I have no doubt that it would change something in the way of spells, not sure what though.
The eclipse amde me feel really aggressive and I had a strong urge to rip someones throat out. It was really f***ed up. I really didn't like that feeling
I know mercury in retrograde has an effect with comunications and the full moon effects gravity.
its bad to try to do any type of magic during an eclipse because the results wont turn out the way you want them to. Other than that one reference, I haven't read or heard anything different. I have checked all my books and data bases and there is no ritual for the eclipse, or magic you can do.
i always use the full moon in corporation with candle magick, but always using it for something positive...like doing a spell for money or luck.
A lot of myths and legends are set with the full moon as a background, so could it be that this is were we get the conception that the full moon is magical?
well, i'm sure all the druids running nekkid in the woods needed a full moon to see what they were doing...
^^
I dont know anything of the powers that would be gained during an eclipse. But I do agree that the full moon is the best time for any spell. I am glad this question was raised...gave me one more thing to learn about!
Different spells are done at different times. Some spells work better if you do it on a certain moon or a certain day.
i always feel more energized and "powerful", it's just a good time to move towards positive things.
The full moon to me has always been a time of energy and restlessness..for lack of a better word. I sometimes get that" I need to go somewhere ,but I don't know where that is" kinda thing.
My magicks seem to be more keen and easier to manipulate at this time. I do not know if this is the same with other folks, but many I have talked to also feel this high energy and general tug of the soul feeling.
as far as i know and from my own experience, a lunar eclipse brings more energy to me but i also have more energy during a full moon.
i'm pretty sure it depends on the person though
my energy is full at the new moon and at the full moon but i notice that in between my energy feels a bit lower than usual
i dont know why but someone said to track your energy level and now that i have in the last 3 months it seems so...
its wierd
I seem to have alot of energy whenever there's a Full Moon...this might have something to do with the fact that I coordinate a Full Moon Ceremony on a monthly basis...I run my butt off preparing for it....:D
Just as with spiritual workings, you invert yourself to connect to energies in order to manifest them accurately. Full moons help or empower spells and magics when thrown into the world... it would only make sense to me that eclipses would be a perfect time to work a spell or energy working involving yourself where the world as a whole is generally left out of focus.
The eclipse is a masque for a descending celestial entity of rather potent influence upon the earth. The energy during that kind of an event allows for anyone who is balanced to build weaker parts of their heart and soul with a veil to that which created all things... basically a blessing in disguise to those whom know of its truth.
Ultimately, eclipses are magnificent displays of beauty, shrouded with mystery...
It would be the same its just a shadow or rather the earth getting in the way of the sun light that reelects off of the moon any ways..
I would agree that everything feels intensified when there's a full moon. I'm sure lots of us experience feelings of being "keyed up," then you look up and see the full moon staring back at you, winking. =)
The full moon eclipse could be one of the most powerful night for magic practices. But beware! It`s only for those powerful enough. Some effects could flip and that could help the dark side of the divine force. You should have someone to giude you if you try this for the first time.
I think it would have a reverse effect also on anything performed...because you're going in to darkness...just like under a new moon. a lot of negative energy
Indeed an eclipse is not a good time to work white spells, but I have heard that it is most beneficial in casting negative spells or raising's.
i personally think it would depend upon the person. every soul reacts differently, the energy would be different with everyone and everything.
sorry i cant be of more help
I feel better when there is an eclipse than just a full moon. I feel like i could take on the whole world and i see people differently. kinda like i feel there pain and anguish.
Most of the time, the rarest natural occurences are the best times to perform spells.
I would be then driven to think that such rarities coincidentally coincide with certain functions of nature. These being possiblly astrologically or seasonally driven, that give you the impression of universal purity or whatever feeling it you possess when you declare that this time is the time to cast a spell.
Most of these responses have just because repeats of each other. This thread has hit it's last leg.
