It is believed by many people in both ancient and modern cultures that human of blood and flesh have reached god-hood. Julius Caesar the famous General and high priest of Jupiter has been viewed by many to be a god after his death(even had his own temple). I was wondering on other peoples views on a human becoming a god or if you believe its even possible.

Yes I believe people can reach God/Goddess hood.I many cultures have stories of Gods/Goddess haveing to live as mortals without all there Goddly Powers.Aridia a Goddess in Strega (Itallian Witchcraft) came to earth as a mortal and taught magic to the humans.Even in one sect of the Morman religion Men can become god of there own planet, but it is a sexest view as women can't be a Goddess.

Being a follower of the LHP long enough would be advantage to this question. LHP believe that if there is a God then it is our own being, for their is no one nor anything that controls our life but ourselves so therefore we are gods but such definition.

It all depends on a person's beliefs, religion they follow, and also the time period they are in. You have to admit, the time of the Romans is quite different from our own time. We know the explanation for much more of the natural happenings that they had no other explanation for other then gods/goddesses acting.

I see it as anything is possible when it comes down to it. I don't know what I believe in, as in religion wise or even a lot of my own beliefs. I feel like I haven't gained enough knowledge to make decisions on many subjects and topics. I hope to one day get that knowledge though!

But I think it could be possible. Think about it, if there are gods/goddesses, then they had to come from somewhere. And who would be better to be in power then another human turned god or god-like.

I don't think people make other people gods.....in days of old people did so usually out of fear or respect of dictators.

I think we are all mini gods, part of the whole, returning to the whole.

Although I am sure, there have been men who behaved as if they are gods. I also believe it may be due to their large egos mixed with a high dose of low self-esteem. Many of the great leaders of the pass have proclaimed god like qualities to retain their elevated positions. For instance, Egyptian Pharaohs were not just considered leaders and Kings but also gods. My favorite is when the Bishop Leo of Rome proclaimed himself a god elevating his position above all other bishops in the church, because he persuaded Attila the Hun not to sack Rome. He used this act to convince himself and others that this was indeed a sign that God had given him god like powers. Although many were not convinced and this caused a great division in the Catholic Church, Leo went on to declare a new title as Pope Leo 1, Victor of Christ on earth. Thus, every Bishop of Rome has since taken this position. I think Leo just had a big ego like some dictators, doctors, lawyers, and men of power. Not to offend anybody, I do not mean all men in these positions. However, I think we all can do without any more humans playing god…I already have a Mother.. …

Julius Ceaser was Icredibly Powerful..he had Money, he had status, he had strength in armies.. he had an Empire, he had many buildings in whic, he owned!
Does that make him a God? Does it make him worthy of Good Hood?
Very materialistic!!

If it were possible to be a God.. one would only have to look at the real people out there.. the ones that struggle every day to find food... to find money.. to find health.. THEY are FAR more worthy of God hood..

I suppose it would depend upon your own interpretation. It is more or less known as "sainthood" now I guess. However, if you go by the king James bible it does say that man was created in "God's" own image so that opens up a whole new world of questions.

The quantum physicists believe that the universe arises from our thoughts. There was the proton experiment that I have mentioned before, where the a proton was split sent in opposite directions and acted as one. The quantum guys believe that the mere act of watching can influence the behavior of a sub-atomic particle. The army conducted experiments on DNA, they proved that DNA can be influenced by emotions.

I remember that Jesus said something about having faith and you will have the ability to do what he did. Some believe we are all one. That all is connected AND that ALL is connected to GOD.

If the above is possible then isn't possible for humans to do acts that might perceived as God like

Perhaps we are all gods on some level....on a clear night you turn your gaze to the sky and see a pinpoint of light, the light of an entire galaxy…photons that have journeyed hundreds of millions of years and which are now cascading through your pupils….exploding into your reality…beautiful you say…But, what of the photons…where are they now, have they made this journey only to wink out of existence…CAN THEY?...your eyes, black holes?...from which even light cannot escape?

well there are gods and there are Gods. many ancients believed that a human being could become an avatar for a god, and in so doing reach godhood. if a god becomes a man then that man can become a god - for they have become one. there are many instances of this in greek and celtic mythology, and in modern myths too - for instance, Dr Blake becoming the avatar for Thor.

there are also tales of great heroes who eventually become gods - such as Lugh, Nuada, or Bran

i think that gods and mortals are one in the same. We all have a spirit, and god is basically a spirit. I think that all things have a spirit, and I think that that spirit IS god. I don't think that there is a god, as a seperate entity or being, but I think that We are god already. I don't think that anything we do in the physical realm, or think that we do in the spirit realm, will make us any more or less of god. I also think that everything to exist also needs a spirit, or god in order to exist. So, I don't really think that we're any more or less of god than a lawn chair or a bucket of pudding

I suppose that would depend on how you define a 'god'. If to you, a god is someone with great power, than yes. Or if to you, a god is a good, righteous person who helps those in need, than, of course. If to you, a god is a large, somewhat misshapen butternut squash, well.....then, no.

Humans reaching godhood?....Well I'm in agreement about it's all in what you believe in,but does it not take followers to become a god/goddess?For what happens to a god/dess when they have no more faith in them...They fade away to be forgotten.

Then there is something else that I would like to say also...What applications do you have to posses to become a god/dess?Is it when there are some that love and believe in you unconditionally? When ones look onto you for strength and support? When you are believed to be a healer of all ailments or a conquerer of troubles?A creator of life and a harvester of death?.......If so then are we not all gods and goddess'?For when your child looks upon you for guidance and support, love you with all that they are,are healed by just a few words to them or a kiss on the knee, and them knowing that you are one out of two that have given them life and protected them from death.......So in my humble opinion, yes we can reach godhood in a way and if we had enough followers we could reach it in another.

I do not feel a mere human can become a god. Grant it many believe and feel they are god like because of the powers they may have as a human, and people may treat them as God-Like yet to actually be a god no. They are just Mere- Humans after all. grant it many have done some great things and then again some crazy things that lead people to percieve them as Gods yet once they die they are just like the rest of us

It is people (humans ) who make them out to be Gods nothing more. That is just my opinion.

I honestly dont think so at all. God's aren't supposed to be "normal" or "insignificant" like we are.
It may be possible for a person to appear God like, but that would only be because we are viewing them like that. We're giving the that power. We build the temples, and create the image.
God or whomever, created us.

The answer to that question would depend entirely on who/what you think god is. In Judeo-Christian mythology, God has always been God. In many polytheistic religions, the Gods may choose or be forced to be human for a time. In many eastern religions, the focus is given to the divine potential of all things, usually without specific reference to God/Gods. Most have some kind of elevated status for exceptional humans but to say they are a god would depend on the nature of god in your mind.

First, you need to ask yourself: What is it to be "god-like"?

There are different perceptions on this thought....... invincibility and immortality come to mind first, which, I don't know or have heard of anyone of this nature, have you?

The ability to change whatever you wanted...... well, I certainly don't see Julius Caesar making any changes in the world today, lol.

No, I don't think it's possible to become a "God".

From what i derived from the bible human god-like status was achieved through procreation with the Nephlim, who broke free from the heavens and took human women as their wives also the Nephlim were renowned blood drinkers (which according to the bible) god disagreed with as blood was for the gods alone.

He wrought his wrath in a great flood killing all but the pure unsullied family of Noah, however noah's daughters were married to decendants of the nephlim and henceforth bore their children. so in effect god tried in vain to wipe out the God_like humans and in some countries the decendants are refered to as the first vampire's.
appologies if i have any of this wrong but i don't think i do.

Sorry the flood hasn’t been proven for the Christians .. however the Nile flooding was and the 40 day stuck on the ziggurats was too …. Not a knock at religion … just digging down to truths …. So I guess good I dear lacking base

Oops just read my post above lol sorry was just waking up
Should of said I fear lacking base or foundation … I find queen lilith your comments interesting and do think some stories have a truth behind them even if they were altered to fit the winning religion ..

I don’t think the label we have for some gods is fitting … like over all master of all.
Why even a Christian god said he was jealous of other gods and not to worship them … that statement alone tells us there were more even for that religion … not picking just all I can remember right now.
I still think we are all god seeds that need to be nurtured and grow in the BS of life

I believe in one god only. I'm not pushing anything It's just my belief. Cause I experienced death I know what I saw and what I felt when my life flashed before me and I relived my childhood. I drowned at 13 and came back. No one on this earth can imagine or dream what that place was like , not like any where on earth or anywhere else. It was unexplainable .

Reaching god hood in life never, only when a figure dies does he get the staus of being a god, for the acts they have potrayed in life. but reaching godhood no, I think it is interpatation, Alexander the great< Ghangis Kahn were all mortal men who achieved godhood status only in death. because of the military achievments. No god hood for mortals.

Raziel- I can only give you the Christian answer. Humans can't wrap their heads around 'timeless', 'always was'. In Judeo-Christianity~ God has always been. We can't understand that kind of thing as a human- and that's part of the whole appeal.

'God-hood' is merely a subjective term. When you consider what apes think of us (assuming apes do think) with our strange contraptions which we haul around with us and our ability to do miraculous things, such as creating fire with the flick of a thumb or reproducing sounds and images, etc., apes could possibly think of us as God-like.

The LDS religion believes that God-hood is possible and once your time is up on this planet, you are then assigned a planet of your own to oversee. In essence, you become a god for that planet.

If it were possible to become a god, would I want to? Silly question... I already am one! Just kidding, sorry.

If it were possible to reach god-hood state, should people become gods? Considering the way we've been acting in these last 250 years as a species in general, I would have to say NO.

Is it even possible to get close to godliness? Perhaps, but we're still so far away from it. Anyone who claims to be a god of some sort is either merely being jestful, deceitful or is crazy.

I believe that some how or another we all together, all the souls that ever was and ever will be is god its self made up out of all the spirits. Then and only then will the true god ever be.

However...aside from that I believe that in a sense we are all gods/goddesses. For the fact we have the ability to control our own lives.

I also believe that the gods from the past who are considered gods were more like guardians of creation. As from where I stand...a real god doesn't come from any biological origin or is created. It is eternal as the void of space.

In conclusion, I do believe that we here can become gaurdians that are like god but we cannot truly be god its self because all of us would have to combine into one. For me, it just gets confusing from there lol.

I would say yes, Both speaking from a LHP and RHP perspective.

For the LHP there is the rites of Ahriman, and the ensorcelment of the infernal beast, as well as reference to, means of becoming one with the dark god himself. But at that point the persons ego, disapates and the dark god takes over the flesh.

For the RHP its a matter of how many souls you yourself draw power through. If you have glyphs tattooed on peoples skin, and you then feed from these glyphs and increasing the energy capacity that they can weild your energy from. Then have you not reached a form of being a disembodied spiritual presance, In that your spiritual power is then spread between those who have the marking, at the same time, is still focused from your fleshy vessel, so you have the ability to use as puppets those souls you have had the pleasure of marking.

Of course there are other ways I have discovered but thats mine. If someone wishes to discuss it further, I am available in messages.

Personally I don't belive in a God. I do belive that there are forces out there that can somethimes dictate parts of our life. As for humans reaching God/Goddess-hood. That is all up to interpratation. Some cultures do belive that after a person of greatness dies they become a God/Goddess, and erect temples or statues in their name. I feel that those who clam to see images of gods/goddess' in everyday life are in need of some miracle to explain what is happening to them. Our mind is the most powerfull thing in the world, and socitiy shows use that it can be used for greatness or pure evil. The mind can also be tricked into seeing anything it wants. As for those who see these events too, they are also in need of a miricle. God/Goddess-hood is up to each persons and their up bringing.

It would depend on what the definition is of this "god" thing that you are asking about. If you believe in an Omni God where He is anything and everything and everywhere all at the same time and where nothing can exist outside of Him, which is the common belief, then what did he make everything out of - including us? We, by this belief, are God. Or at least fragments of. We were told that the kingdom is within us. There is no us or I. When the duality fades, you will be able to say that "I and the Father are one." We already are gods but the "I" in us keeps the separation. We were also told by JC that we can do the same things he did - and more. This was meant to be taken literally. I do not call myself any god but "co-creator" with God, works for me.

So, "if someone asks you if you are god, say YES." ~ Ghostbusters

No. Like Blueblood said people make it so by thinking and believing that a man is 'god' by his accomplishments and strengths doesn't make him the one or many that each person believes in.

I am suppose to believe that there is only one God. I do, but meh... Im very loose with my religion. Id wrather be open minded to things instead of shoving a Bible down someone's throat.

Anyway, to the topic. I dont know if people can obtain god-hood or not. I mean I hear its possible for Humans to birth a god but I really dont know if one person in its self could become a god. I mean there are people who become saints and such, but how would one become a god exactly? They'd either have to be better than Jesus or worse than Satan I suppose.

I really don't know to be honest. I think that we could all be Gods/Goddesses on some level but to be truely powerful and present everywhere at any time, i don't think so, i know that no human could do that. Some people may be classed as Gods though due to how much power, status and respect they have but they are not a true God if you knwo what i mean. This was a really good question. But to me i don't think this is possible.

Biblically speaking, I don't think I am on the same level as God and Jesus. It's all in the interpretation, and I think doing the things Jesus did is more alongs the meaning we have it in ourselves to love and care the way he did- like MLK jr and Gandhi. Love and care can make miracles- I do believe that is true.

and when it comes down to it- this topic really depends on your belief-system.

I have really mixed feelings on this one. It's hard to say. I suppose if you "feel" like a God then that might qualify you to believe you are. I've always thought that if you belive it then it can happen and so therefor that would be a definate possibility. Then again, to see the other side of the blade, if you believe it that doesn't always mean it's right. Serial killers belive what they are doing is right and that it's fun, and that's not the case. So I guess it does depend on your own views. To each their own, I always say!

It depends on what you mean by Godhood.

If you mean Buddahood:
yes, all human beings are capable of this awakening.

If you mean Godhead:
No, The Godhead is a different spiritual awakening only available to those christened by God.

If you mean God:
No there is only one that created us, the created cannot equal the creator.

If you mean "you are God." ie. Stranger in a Strange Land etc:
Yes, all created things in their way are a part of God; in the way that a piece of art that you created is part of you, we are a part of God and thus, we are God.

If you mean "you are a god":
I love this saying!

If you mean to have power as a god, or to be worshipped as a god:
Surely the cult of personality proves this.

This can be taken in several ways. Is it to be god-like or god?
In the Bible we find that God made man in both his image and likeness which means we have the attributes of God. In the Book of Job ,if memory serves me right, God (the Father) calls man gods. Humans were made from the highest power as well as all other things therefore we and everything are a part of God and thus gods.
To a further end if you read my "new" story of creation in my journal you will find a scientific answer. As we develope we become more and more perfect, as defined by knowledge and wisdom. One day millions of years from now humanity will ascend to a higher level of existance (some already have) thus becoming perceptual gods. In other words they being higher than others would appear to be a god but not God. I believe God to exist in his/its most complete form at the highest dimentional plain and we at a lower plain but as we move up the ladder we will oneday be gods to whatever race occupies the current relm. I hope this makes sense.

i have tome to the conclusion that the only way hat a human can be godlike is purely in thought,i know alot of cult leaders believe they are in such a form and their followers treat them as a god not realizing that they are just flesh blood and bone just like everyone else.
it's nice to let our imaginations run but i can't see this happening in reality myself. well not literally anyways.

I dont think its actually possible, you can convice people you are, you can convince yourself you are, but that doesnt mean you actually are.

im reminded of a joke:
so a scientist was talking to god one day, and said you know, weve reached a point where we dont really need you, we can make everything ourselves, so if you want, you can just step back and well be fine,
god replied, really? lets have a contest, first person to create life from nothing wins.
the scientist agrees and bends down to get a handful of dirt,
god says, hey, get your own dirt.

I do not think that it is possible, but I do believe that people can have such a high opinnion of some one and a fear of that person that they respect it as a God. Like after a tyrants death people may still bow down to statues of him and stuff because they think he is still watching them.

God has been changing in definition throughout the ages. At one time there were many gods representing different aspects of forces of nature. Slowly that belief metamorphosed into a mono or bi theistic belief system. Gods have always been more powerful than humanity but there has always been a way for humanity or achieve godhood or something like unto god. I believe that God in whatever form you choose to worship is so hugely complex that no belief system is wholly wrong nor wholly right.

The concept of godhood is what you make of it, but I aspire to the belief that God is everything and therefore we are all gods or at least an infinitesimal part of God.

Now this depends on how you refer "God" because it can be yes and it could be no.
For example you take other cultures other then christianity I would defiently say it is possible.
But other then religions like chrisianity its moraly impossible due to teh fact there is only one God and yet he is all perfect.

But more likely my answer would variefy as no since I haven't seen anything otehr then that of movies or stories.

Look at the Power Saddam had over the poeple of Iraq. Many of them to this day believe he is still alive.. The man struck fear into the hearts of his people and anyone defying him was killed along with the opossing persons friends and family.. If it was not televised the entire country would still believe he was the one in charge. So in my belief you may gain God like power, but to become a real God I feel is not possible .. I think that once a person can reach beyond him or herself, than an enlightenment can occur, but the term "god" is tossed about like ping pong balls from "Balls of Fury". "God damn it" "God save us" "Good god" "God loves you" "God-like" "godsend". Its all just so confused that we cant really know what a god (or goddess) is at all. God can be the Ultimate being and/or meaning of life. God can be that which you worship above all other things. God can be merely an exclaimation. God can just be a word that other people use around you and you have no clue what it means. God is something that is kind and gentle. God is a wrathful creature that will kill you. God is a myth. God is created by man and means nothing. I believe in being able to peer beyond the grasp of understanding, maybe not beyond human perception but beyond ones own understanding. But to be a god or goddess like the greek gods or the christian god, one would have to move outside of a physical self. Learn everything there is to know, including things that are as of yet not known. One would have to be able to manipulate all things. One would have to be everywhere or in a space and time that does not exist for humans on earth. I do not think man can be the god or goddesses that he believes in. I see only betterment and enlightenment in the future for mankind.
