ok i have seen many posts on the moon ,, what im wondering is the moon realy what is power full,, or is it a suggestion of power that makes many feel moon struck? do you feel drawn to moon art ?
Perhaps it could be a suggestion that makes a difference to some.. however I do notice an adjustment in my tarot readings as the moon shifts phases. So I believe the moon can be quite a powerful thing indeed.
Well the moon affects the tides all over the Earth so it has to be powerful. As far as people being "moon struck" there's little scientific evidence to support this theory. They've done studies and there is no significant rise in crime or emergency room visits during a full moon so it's more of a wives tale. The power of suggestion, on the other hand, can be quite influential. What we perceive to be true creates our reality, so if we believe the moon influences events around us we will "see" the effects during different phases of the moon.
I believe that the power of the moon over a person depends on the person. If you believe it holds sway over you then it will.
I myself am very drawn to the moon. and yes it is veru powerful. I mean if you think of the power of the moon and how much things go with it its truely amazing
yes the moon is very powerful. it affects the tides and peoples moods.it affects alot more than most people think or know about.
Well all I know is when the moon is full I get chills & I feel charged. Moonlight itself is wonderful & relaxing. Perhaps the softening effects & that ethereal appearance the light gives are what make it so attractive.
well I do know that when the moon is full I feel more energized and my emotions run higher and i can be happy or get angry quicker just depends .. weird.
I truly believe the moon holds a lot of power. There is really no suggestion of it. The moon just has a pull to it. As stated by other members it influences emotions, and gives energy. The moon gives me a sense of comfort among other feelings.
A few years ago I worked third shift at a supermarket, a lot of cops would come in. I would strike up conversations with them to help pass the time; I asked several of them if they could tell a difference between the nights when a full moon was present versus a regular night during the month. All of them said they could. Call volume would increase. One guy even said aggression levels of suspects definetely rose when the moon was out.
Hey if it can make the water move(waves/tides) here on earth I must say yes. Anything else would be a lie.
I would think that that would depend on the person and their beliefs. If a person feels more attune with the moon they are more apt to feel her sway.
The power of suggestion does go a long way, but as with the above post, the moons effects are quite real I assure you. As with the flows of the tides, the body of humanity has its effects as well. As do the other planets...Such as alignments, solar patterns, universal black and white energies. This has been proven scientifically. Thus is why astrologers take the process as seriously as they do.
the moon has infuence on earths climate, the tide and even human and animal behavior. so thats the scientific part and if you stand and bask in the light of a full moon. you can actually feel the energy from it falling on, and filling you. at least i can
I think it does. I find myself drawn to the moon as it gets fuller. I don't make a habit out of looking at the moon but I have noticed that on the nights it is full or very nearly full, I find myself looking towards the sky more.
The influence of the moon is real. There is nothing supernatural or paranormal about it. But it's effects go beyond the normaly accepted and transcends the purely scientific explanations.
The moon affects the tides. Who knows what else it may affect? I find that when it gets close to the full moon I have an elevated mood, and on the new moon I find myself angry or depressed. Coincidence? Power of suggestion? I don't know.
I think it depends on the person and there inner perception of what the moon represents.
I am regulated by the Moon if you know what I mean. I think a lot of women are when it comes to the Aunt Flo thing coming upon us*winks*
I find myself at ease when I see the Moon smiling down upon me, and showering me with her cold kiss of mist in the middle of the night. I have a lot of tattoo work on me with moons in it. I am not finished either. So yes, I am attracted to Moon Art!
I think it depends on the effects of the moon, and the perception of people doesn't mean a tinker's damn in the overall scheme of things.
i think it is beautiful and i could steer all night but power i not sure about
i have a few friends that all love the moon and some that don't really care, it just depends on the person, i rely on the energy of the moon considering it's about the only good source of psi feeding i get. and i have noticed when it's full i have alot of energy but when it's waning i feel like i have less energy.
absolutely it has power. It affects everything. Even in ancient times and Indigenous people found it to be powerful. Even if they didn't understand why.
It has been scientifically proven that the moon has the power to effect the oceans. Humans are... I think 80% water...or something like that. So it makes sense that the moon would effect us one way or another.
The moon itself gives me a kind of calming feeling...more so when it is full and bright...
I don't think it effects "powers" so much as it does your mood.
The moon is powerful. When the moon is full it is at its most powerful level
The gravitational force of the moon is strong enough to cause the ocean to rise (causing high tide) and therefore it is possibly changing the gravitational effect on our glands and organs which can affect our moods. During the night, the full moon counteracts the gravitational pull on us from the Earth, and during the day its complete absence overhead would allow the Earth's gravitation to have an unobstructed affect on us. This gravitational difference between mid-day and midnight is the greatest during the days of the full moon (and new moon when the moon is overhead during midday and absent during the night). It is one explanation for a persons more erratic behaviour during this time (and also during the new moon for some people). Some animals change in behavior also during the changes of the moon, much as humans, their moods change. so yes i do believe tht the moon is powerful.
If the moon has enough power to affect the tides and behaviors of animals, of course it would affect humans in much the same way. Brain activity, blood flow and therefore oxygen, to the brain, etc.
going to agree with the majority with yes, tides, gravity, etc.
Faeriemoon, I'll have to disagree with you about the ER. Having worked in the 3rd busiest ER in Southern New England for 7 years running - I and my coworkers can attest to the significant impact on behavioral changes during moon phases. Secondly, many sociological studies have been conducted which convey the increased aggressive activity during a full moon. Thirdly, most women's cycles are quite in sync with the moon's cycle as a result of the tidal effect.

The pull of the moon is very powerful... I could spend hours looking at it.
like stated above the moons draw on mother earth is very powerful, over humans and other creatures i believe some are more untune too its power and force, others the image is all the need.
The moon is great for gardning when its full its in tghe farmers alumnac it tells you how the moon works when farming and growing vegetables ect.
the moon embodies power, it effects everything around the world from waters, and plants to all forms of animals and life... if it were just a sugestive issue that gave the moon its power how would it be able to effect everything on our planet?
some people are victims of suggestion but you can tell those who are just completely drawn...
so yes the moon is quite powerful with its energies and ambience... it provides a serenity like nothing else on this planet.
yeah and have you ever noticed that some people act wierder than they normally do during a full and new moon
im not exactly sure about that but omg the other night i went outside and looked up at the full moon and there was this awesome huge ring around it.
I'm surprised to read that studies report no increase in violent crimes, people falling in love --- word on the street is different.
The moon affects the tides of all major bodies of water. We're mostly water.
i know my daughter is a moon baby...she was born on a full moon and has always been more hyper when it is full...and i do not think it is just in the mind...b/c at 3 years old i would find her up in the middle of the night playing and full of so much energy on a full moon and she did not know anything about it....
but i think a new moon has just as much power to some as a full moon does....it just depends on the individual *smile*
Hi BloodMother - Studies HAVE been done which show a correlation between aggressive behavior, i.e. violent crimes, and the phases of the moon - especially the full moon. I posted a link above.
Well, I don't know what you would think of this. But during the full moon I tend to feel.... alive. Like I have more energy, power. It is so incredible.
I believe the moon can be very powerful. But it also depends on the person i guess.
the moon is very powerful for me. But.. oddly the energized feeling people talk about during the full moon I get at the new or dark moon. I can draw moon energy to me anytime ( or sun if I wish) but the dark moon seems to effect me far more powerfully.
The full or new moon would make sense to have the greatest gravitational impact on Earth and the Earthlings, simply because of its astrological positioning. The new moon is at a point when it is between the Earth and Sun, so the pull of the two combined would have a great impact. The full moon is on the opposite side of the earth in its position relating to the sun, and the forces pulling on the water from either side would have a slight tug-of-war effect, with the greater power being given to the moon.
I believe the Moon is very powerful...
A...it is constantly exerting magnetic force on the Earth...we see this manifest in the water tides...
B...belief systems around the World revere the Moon for the role it plays in creation stories...
Vlkodlak, very well put. Yes I agree it is all in what the person believes. There have been some really great posts on this thread.
try experimenting with yourself and the phases of the moon. keep track of your sleep paterns and energy levels during each phase for at least 2 months.
We are all unique beings and it never hurts to learn more every day about who we are. If you are wanting to know how or if something is going to effect you then you should document it for yourself.
I mean after all don't scientists keep lots of notes.
And I realize that most people don't do things like this normally but maybe we should. Self awareness is healthy!
i agree the moon is very powerful, and does make many changes that alot of people are unaware of.
I believe that the moon has power, yes it may have its way over the tides through gravity or what not, but it still holds power none the less...We all see things through different eyes, so it is only natural that there will be those who believe and those who don't...different things hold us in different ways
Very powerful and I enjoy dancing under are "mother" moon(smiles). No on serious tip I feel more energy when it set in full and yes can stare at it forever, seems like it draw's me to it.
Yes there is a definate power that is cast from the moon over everyone.....its just part of nature. I dont even have to see it and I know.....just by interacting with people....every one is affected by its power reguardless of their beliefs.
I'm not sure about all aspects of the power of the moon, but I do know rom experience that causes all sorts of chaos when I am navigating my sailboat on afull moon!
personally i dont think much of the moon. i believe its just an orb, hanging around earth.
Yes the full moon is never a good time usually for me and I don't even have to know it is...
I believe that just like anything, if you believe it helps you then it will give you that sense and it then becomes powerfull to you
I absolutely adore the Moon! It is most powerful when it is full, and also the most beautiful. To truely appreciate it's beauty, you should look at it through a high powered telescope. It is amazing! It rules the tides,I agree. I believe that spells worked during the full moon-phase are the most powerful. I also just like to gaze at it, full or not. I love the reflection of light it provides at night. I feel "alive" in the Moonlight!
I was born under a new moon, so it has never really been much of a big deal for me. I do quite like moonless nights but I don't find that my mood or senses are changed with moon phases. Perhaps there is something to it, but it doesn't seem to affect me.
The idea that the Moon is a goddess can be traced back to the fertility cults of Neolithic Europe. The 13-month Celtic tree calendar was built around the 13 full Moons of the year. Each moon has differnet spells for them. Well this is my belief. Right now is the Elder Moon (NOV 25 -DEC 23) It is the last full moon of the year, it represents completeness. Cast spells dealing with closure, and take stock of what you have achieved.
I would actually say it is just the sugestion, but there is some truth to its power. The moon affects many thing like the tides and our bodies which are made of 70% water. So there is power to it.
I believe the moon is very powerful,I was driving one day and turned the corner about 2 am on this tree lined street and before me the moon was there very full and very red,I really think I have never seen anything as beautiful and the power you could feel radiating so yes very.
The moon is a very powerful celestial body. It has about the strongest magnetic pull on the Earth next to the Sun itself.
If you think about a magnet having a pull on a piece of metal and just how close it has to be to attract, you would realize the distance between the Earth and moon is a lot larger. That would mean the magnetic pull it has would be so strong, if it were condensed into even the size of say, the Super Dome, it would attract almost every piece of attractive metal on the face of the Earth, as well as beneath the surface.
Magnets have a strong effect on the human body themselves. Why do you think they have used magnets to treat things such as headaches and arthritis? It's because of the effect it has on the electrical impulses sent off by the brain through the nerves in our bodies. It only makes sense that a magnet the size of the moon would have an effect, even if a very slight one, on the average person's brain and body. It can be anything from mood swings to a relief of stress or pain.
If the moon wasn't an influential body, why would it be so important to the Earth's ecosystems?
and as a postscript to the erudite fellow before me, I always create more during tiimes when the Moon is full.

this is just a weblink that i hope helps.
i think the moon affects the tides as well as people as i am a firefighter and i do notice that on full moon night that we get more calls in general on these nights
if u ask me the moon has great power cus the first thing i do when i walk out side at night is my eyes are drawn to the moon so yes id say the moon has power
In Islam, it is said that before Ibrahim discovered "God" or "Allah", he too worshipped the Moon for a short time.
bill bye tried to tell a group in texas the basics of the moon. in hindsight its really funny but im sure at the time he was less than amused.
he tried to explain how the moon works and they werent having any of it. according to the bible to paraphrase: the moon is the blinking neon light of gods will.
well needless to say bill nye walked out in a huff.
i dont think it has any real power on us,but its an easy symbol of power from myths and other beliefs
I've never felt much power change with the moon..
I love the moon, think it's beautiful.. it does calm me..
but nothing really definite.
I have always felt a connection with the moon, and it seems to get stronger when the moon approaches and reaches full. I definitely believe that the moon carries a power spiritually.
The moon controls so many things in nature it's power is real.
I have been a firefighter/paramedic for 20 years. Call it coincidence if you want, but things do tend to go to hell on a fool moon. Maybe it is just where I am, but don't we all base our beliefs own primarily what we see and experience.
Isn't it interesting that science can prove what cultures have believed for so long? Of course, when they come out with the information it's like its revolutionary.
And even then there are those who seek to disprove it. You work in the ER? You see the results of those we bring in, so you know that no matter how hard they try to disprove the theory, we both find ourselves fighting death during that phase of the moon.
I believe the moon holdes swei over a persons psyche during a full moon it seems there are more crimes commited or general unrest amongst the populance
I think how much power the moon has over a person would depend on the person
Depends. I think its just as powerful as the sun or stars
i like to be under the moon with the stars out and lay and relax it sooths me at times i really dont feel drawn drawn to it but its a comfy feeling
I believe Human beings are affected by the moon. Women especially are affected by the moon and our menstrual cycle is intimately linked to this celestial body.
'Course those of you who have occult knowledge of such matters, the moon has an actual baleful emanation. The ancient Greeks spoke of the power that the witches of Thessaly had of drawing down the moon itself, by which they meant the subtle and malignant influence of the moon for their rites.
The witch is believed to be able to cause the moon to drip its poison into a dish of water which foams and bubbles for a time and is then ready for the evil purposes of the witch.
well like the way it affect the tides .. we as people are made up of a large percent of water so of course we affected by the power of the moon... now some more then others affect yes i believe that to .. figure some might have a higher salt content than others and if ya notice fresh water does not get as high of waves as salt water does.. ... .. now to put it on this note as well salt level and high blood pressure people who get mad blood pressure goes up well it goes up more on people with more salt so i believe salt level and moon are the magic connection
Depends on the person. It can have a different effect on different people.
Certain full moons affect me in different ways and it isnt necessarily when it is full..It starts like a week before and last a week after the full moon..It all depends on certain happenings in my life at the cycle of the Full Moon...
There is a definite magnetic pull to the moon that does not only affect people but affects the tides as well. So it can not just be psychosomatic that the moon has an affect on us. It is well known and documented that whether they see it or not psychiatric patients will react to the moons power in many different ways including violently or as moonstruck.
i do think the moon can hold powerful energy- even supernatural, using the moonlight. As you know, anything can happen...
I think the moon definitely affects everyone in different ways. I know that it affects moods and how a person feels. If it can pull tides in and out, it certainly can pull people's moods and things. The moon affects everyone and everything.
There is no doubt that the moon affects people. Think of moon based mental diseased, lycanthropy, even people with psychosis...The moon has an effect on them.
The moon has an effect on me, to an extent, and I think to everybody. I'm not sure what makes it so powerful though.
From what I understand it has to do with the gravity from each the moon and the earth. Kind of like a magnet, but different. Very intriguing.
The moon is very powerful and can even affect the tides changing the water level up or down due to the gravitational pull it has between the earth and moon
here is a site that has some info on it.

I think it all comes from the fact that the moon controls our tides and elements. If it is that strong ppl will be pulled to it for its strengh
