No, I don't think wiccan is bad, I think that if anything is bad it is the person. To me it is the same for any other religion on the face of the earth... there are good people and there are bad people, regardless of what they choose to believe as a religion.

Wicca is a lot different from a religion though.

true it is diferent in the sence that you might have results but do you really get the results? or is that just what you belive also

I don't think it's bad at all. You can't judge something based on what certain individuals do who may be involved with it.

I judge each individual as their own... and not on religion or race unless they start pushing a whole bunch of stuff on me and trying to change ME. Thats when I get mad and say that they are not ppl I want to be around.

However I have to admit that even though I am not Wiccan I got really ticked off at someone who based all of their beliefs off of the TV show Charmed and tried to say that they were Wiccan. In my opinion he was giving all wiccans a bad name because of that, especially since none really live here... no real wiccans had the chance to prove him wrong, so that is how most of my peers see wicca.

I don't claim to know a lot about wiccans either... if I am wrong to call it a religion then I am wrong. The point is that it is a way of life for some people and it doesn't/shoudln't change who they are.

carsho, Wicca is a religion. Legally accepted. The difference is that it is harder to accept because of how it functions.

As to the nature of the thread, Wicca isn't bad. If the person is bad and uses for tainted purposes then that is their problem. That would be like telling a Catholic that their religion is bad if he didn't ever confess.

That's how I see it at least.

I agree with the majority here. It's not the religion that counts, but what is done with it by the individual.

Sadly people and groups are judged by others who simply do not wish to understand anything they don't feel comfortable with.

I'm not Wiccan myself, but I know one or two who follow that path......they are kind, helpful folk whom I am proud to call friends.

There is nothing bad about Wiccian or any thing else. It is what is behind things that are bad. No I am not Wiccian in fact I dont have any religous beliefs. I am willing to listern and learn about anything as long as no one pushes their views onto me or force me into anything. That isnt the religion or anything unnatural it is the person.

Being the fact that i am Wiccan I do not see it as bad. Like has been posted its the person that chooses to be bad not the pratice. I also will differ with some comments wicca is a form of religion and also a way of life

Wicca in itself is not bad at all.

Bad is a broad term, bad as in they are evil or bad as in no good. Either way it's a sterotype, just like most people think satantic worshiipers sacrifice goats. It's all in the mindset of a individual, if they are tuned to beleiving such lifestyles are evil and unwanted in society then they will automatically beleive it as such. Me personally I don't make judgements until I actually have proof in hand, and with the wiccan's I have met I would say no.

I know many a wiccan, and they are some of the kindess beings I know, they are always trying to remain balanced and positive and that reflects on all around them, I am not wiccan myself, but truly I think the more wiccan we have in the world the better place it will be.

I do not believe Wicca is bad. All individuals have different belief's and that is what makes life unique.

I am must say that I feel it is not bad and that if it is used in a bad way then it doesn't make the religion bad it makes the user of it bad.. I am also wondering as SoulShroude asked why would you think that it is bad?

I agree with most of the people here... it is not Wicca that is ever bad... merely the people that use what they know in a bad fashion.... it is all about intent.

And you do actually get results... you just have to believe 100% that it will work... otherwise it won't. So in a sense it is almost like it is just your belief that gets you the results... without belief nothing is possible...

Agreeing with the majority so far, depends on the persons intent when using it. Also depends on the person, Andra21, if this question was brought about because your trying to decide if it's bad. Well then that is a different situation. To each person that have to make their own mind up about it before practicing it.

Any religion, any belief system can be used by some for evil purposes. That does not make that particular religion or belief system evil, only the one using it for that purpose. Do not mistake or identify the practice of something with the practioner. It is people that manage to make things bad. Very few things are naturally bad in themselves.

Only people can be bad. If you harm none your fine with me. : )

wicca as itself is not about good or bad....its about getting more intouch with the earth and the godess (mostly)....like many others have said its about intent....but there are other majiks more drivin towards malicious intent.....wicca if you actually look into it is driven more by compassion and understanding rather than harming other persons....

then again i suppose it depends on what your religious standard is and what you were told to believe as a child....

I have seen Wicca become commercialized and I feel that that could effect the wiccan community(half assed Wiccans With clot )but I was saved by a Wiccan and I am Bonded .

I really don't anything about wiccan's or their way of life. I would go out on limb as far as to say no.

Its just another way of life, theres nothing wrong with it at all, whatever floats your boat is what I say.

all forms of religion including wicca are a lifestyle and when that lifestyle whatever it be is followed the way it was meant and in good spirit of intent ... it can't be bad. it depends mostly on how you view it what you truely know about it and most importantly what you do with it.

I would have to opine that it goes both ways, but that depends on the practitioner(s). Being native we have healers, shamans, medicine men...etc. And in native spirituality there are those of the above mentioned that encompass one or the other. I wouldn't say that practicing the darker side of the arts is all bad, but you must be fully aware of the implications...as I'm sure you know in working with any kind of majik what you send out comes back three fold.

Like everyone else I do not believe Wicca is bad. Its a lifestyle choice and I always say "to each their own".

1 how the sacrament is consumed
2how to worship
3linage and ranks

Level of dedication and intent if a person uses negative

How could Wicca be "bad", they have the as a central belief : Eight words the the Wiccan rede fulfill, and harm ye none, do as you will. The rede is a modern philosophy, and was coined in the late 1940s. The name Wicca comes from the same source, but did'nt start to catch on until the late 1970s. It is more PC than Witchcraft, which has negative connotations. Most all Wiccans want to get away from the old fear and superstitions associated with devils and black magick.

I am a Wiccan....I love the walk of this path. It is NOT like charmed....for I always take to heart, do no harm to none. For everyone should respect everyone's belief. Wicca is not for everyone, nor do I expect it to be.

Looking at this, I see two things.

first off, the 'practice'
And secondly, the person.

Take anything you want, and put a 'sane' and non-violent person with that object.
Chances are they won't do much, right? look at it and just think, bleh. Unless it can be used, blah de blah. you know the drill.

Now, same again, but with a non-senseically violent person, with harsh intent.
Enough said.

The persons intent is what makes something bad, for me most religions are 'bad' because i see people with bad intentions within those religions. for example - my dad almost got caught on the London Bombing train, he was on the train before the one which blew up.
So i suppose it's also down to our interpretations of what is a good / bad or even a neutral interpretation.
We affect how we see things as much as they do in my opinion.

Then again there are always bad 'seeds' in the pot, there are those from any walk of life and any lifestyle who make a bad name for the rest. There could be that one asshole who is practicing wicca and does some idiotic thing that makes the rest of the group look 'bad'

Wicca is far from being bad, The intentions of the practitioner are what contribute to the bad rapp.

Last I knew Wicca is an officially recognized Religion in the United States as per the Army Manual/Handbook on Religions. It is the only Pagan religion supported by the US Military and the only one military members are allowed to have on their dog tags with out having to select a generic label.

Wicca being an officially recognized religion instead of an occult movement or something else makes it just as good or bad as any other religion. It’ll be so labeled depending on how its members represent it and how its leadership directs it.

In a country (the US) that is supposed to support freedom of religion it is good that we have Wicca as a choice. In that it’s a good thing.

It isn't bad. At all. Its a religion that is earth based. It can't be devil worship or anything of the sort because they cannot worship what they don't believe in.

Bad I feel could be a general word more inclusively I suggest manipulative ,then it would be on a per case review. Why would someone set something negative in motion if they know that it will come back to them?

your right, I feel the same way. But some people don't believe that harm or negativity will come back to them. Ive met some of these .

It's all about the person practicing. If the yare a not so good person, they could probably do some not so good things. But its all about the person. I don't believe that wiccanism itself is bad though, it just gotten a bad rap.

From what I've read so far Wiccan is not bad, but there most likely is a bad side to it. I've read mostly things about how earthly it is and such, but I've also heard there are two sides to it. They usually are two sides to everything..

Wicca isnt bad at all it all depends on the individual. For example if a Wiccan wants to do harm on another , then yes, that person intent is not in the best nature of what its religion was intended for. Or like in catholism. You may get a priest doing community work and charity, feeding the poor etc, and at the same time you may have another one involved in the scandals we see in the news. Its not so much the religion whether its good or bad. Its the intent of the individual using the religion.

Wicca is not bad...its just a faith, just like Taoism or even a christion...there is nothing wrong in beleving in anything...its childish to debate such a thing, you should beleve in what you want to....if its the worship of the female butt, go for it, it does not effect us, you should not care what others think.

I agree with Carsho. Things in general aren't bad, it's the people who are using those items that are bad.

Cars are not bad, drunk/unsafe drivers are bad.

A lot of medications are used to help people, to ease pain, to treat and sometimes cure disease, but it's people who abuse them that are bad.

wiccans are great fun, only problem i see is there too good and white lighters n what not.... hurts my darkness
