OK because this has to do with VR i was wondering are you honest with people about your beliefs. Do you hide what you practice or believe in because you know people will have a hard time excepting it?
me i do hide some things to a degree. my family is not very open minded, they are not very religious but they are closed minded. when i work i do say i do some things but not all things. if i am asked what kind of site i go on i tell the truth.
Most things in life are on a very need to know basis...Nuff said!
I feel i am pretty honest although if am not asked i won't really bring things up that i am involved with. At one time i thought i might have to follow the crowd and found out you can't be happy that way.
I do hide things about myself when at work. When not work I don't hide things like my beliefs - If people don't like it then they are unworthy to be classed and friends and I would rather have nothing to do with them after it is my life NOT theirs.
Nicely stated Beltrand, I guess what I was wanting to say...The right questions need indefinitly to be asked.
I do hide to an extent.. I have tried occasionally to talk about it with my friends, they usually just laugh and think I am joking...
I never hide what I think or believe...I wouldn't be me.Thats why some get pissed off at me when I share my thoughts and opinions on here
as it was said before, its all on a need to know basis. unless your trying to bring people over into what your involved with, why does it need to be discussed unless it is asked about first? so no i dont hide it, but i dont volunteer information either
that is a good point . Now i do have another one
now i have one more question i forgot to mention, if you are not open with yourself only when asked , are you truly a believer of what you believe if you are not honest
i am honest about what i believe in and i let others know
no. i think thats pointless. i'm completely honest and open about my beliefs.
I know what you are asking Moon, and honestly my confidence for my beliefs are at the most high fundamentaly. If any individual deems fit to justify my beliefs and test my convictions, then so be it. I will answer in all honesty, honestly with all truthfulness...Still need to ask the right question(s) first. To be honest with you.
(Chuckles, thinking of poor old Jack Sparrow.)
nothing to hide, i just choose not to talk about beliefs with those who would crucify people like me/us.
Thankyou Moon...
Oh, and being of any religion does not justify the "I do not lie" scenerio, as all society is bound to little white lies.
I don't hide my beliefs or anything I'm interested in, although the topics don't come up much.
Yea i am everyone knows what i think and have faith in.
I do not come out and talk about my personal life to those I really don't know.
However, those who are close to me know exactly who or what I am. Just as they should.
I am not dishonest there are simply those who I do not share myself with.
I can't remember when it was exactly but I reached a stage when I decided I just did'nt feel inclined to hide my beliefs.
I'm honest about my beliefs when asked. Nothing irritates me more then someone who you are just introduced to spilling their life's story in the first five minutes of the meeting.
i hide it from normals yes, its good not to like freak them out too much.
as for around ppl i know willl have a level of understanding yes i tell them all.
For most, it is on a need to know basis....which is ....not.
There are only two people in my life, I can open up too about anything , and I know it will fall upon open and intelligent minds.
Yes, I am honest on my profile. It is my belief and if people do not like it, there is nothing I can do. I keep readers on a need to know basis as well and if they have further questions they can message me.
What I do have problems with is people claiming to be ex. a Satanist and they do not have a clue about what it is really about, they just are because it is hip.
Your believe is nothing to hide and if you hide it then if is often one self that has a hard time accepting it.
Of course their are some things I do not share because it takes too much time to explain.
Here is something, if your honest on Vr are you honest in real life? Being on VR we are more open minded.
Do you really expect to get an "honest" answer?
well i'm not pegan or wiccan, my ex girlfriend is and i was always proud of her and her beliefs
I don't think every one is honest about there beliefs because of what people will say, but people who know me know what i believe in.
There's a difference between exercising discretion and being dishonest.
Being candid about your beliefs is no more dishonest than being out in the open about them.
I like to think I'm totally honest. I don't tend to come forward and share right up front but if I am asked any specific question, I will generally answer it honestly. Look, it's hard enough for me to remember what actually goes on in my life. If I start lieing, I'll never remember what I tell anyone!
I have too short a memory to be an adequate liar, as well.
There's also a difference between being open, honest and announcing every thought that comes into your head. People are able to accept quite alot.
What if you don't wan the world to know what you believe in? What if you wanna keep that to your self? Is that be dishonest?
it really sucks when people feel they have to hide what they believe because of all the jerks out there
I am honest for the most part but believe that some things are my business and I don't need to tell everyone about them
i am honest about myself and my beliefs but i do not speak out.
if asked i will be free with information about who and what i am, but i don't go out of my way to announce it.
most people don't ask, but i'm also the type of person who goes out of their way not to draw attention to themselves, so they probably have no reason to ask. usually the only people who do ask me are ones who have been around me a while, which means they already have an idea
I am true to myself as well as with those around me, but as it comes I musnt tell my mother or anyone from her side of my family who I truly am....which is pagan, bisexual, politically independant, and a girl who has an opinion in basically everything.....because of family rules. We are christian, we let the men think for us, and we only marry men at a young age (which I have no intent on doing for the record). That is the way things are, but I dont lie to anyone, I merely dont tell the ENTIRE truth.
I am very honest about what i believein, but as soulshroude has stated the right questions have to be asked, because discretion is the better part of valour, but in real life only a few truly no anything about me and that is my choice, discretion and no what battles to pick.
CereBralAssassin69 we all know you are open brother you hide nothing, and allow us to hide nothing.
Darkicewolf-
you can keep your religion and /or beliefs to yourself and maintain a truthful nature. You don't have to proclaim your beliefs like some crazed, witnessing bible thumper.
I try to live life without throwing out any of my beliefs right in the open. If someone asks about it, i will tell them, but otherwise im not goign to shout it out.
I never hide what I believe weither it be in real life or on VR, why would I? That wouldn't be living honestly with myself.
Neinmortlan I know this, I was saying is, are you dishonest when you don't tell them in real life, but you do on VR?
Some say non-disclosure is a form of dishonesty... however...
"It's none of your business"
if true... is an acceptable answer both here and in real time.
"you can keep your religion and /or beliefs to yourself and maintain a truthful nature. You don't have to proclaim your beliefs like some crazed, witnessing bible thumper."
I agree completely.
No, I do not hide it. Those who cannot accept my beliefs really do not become my friends . My family is open-minded and I am blessed to have friends that love me no matter what I believe or practice.
I am honest with what I believe and when I am asked directly however I don't broadcast my beliefs onto others since I think it's a personal choice, one's beliefs.
Sometimes I wonder if people are truely honest with themselves in their beliefs, maybe thats where the doubt lays.
im pretty honest on here, but its not like i tell people my sss lol
I think it depends on the personality of the individual and if they have had bad experiences from "telling all". It is not lying to leave out certain details or to keep one's beliefs to one's self. I think it is just as bad to pry into someone's beliefs if they are not ready and willing to share them. Some may say that they don't believe in something or kind of couch it because they have been a victim of ridicule. It doesn't mean they believe less of what they did prior but if you have a non mainstream viewpoint of life most often it is not too smart to reveal all to people. We label everyone if they don't believe the same things. So I think perhaps people will tell little lies to keep the peace or keep from being persecuted.
Someone in my family worked in an office of Christians who constantly went on about it...do you think she could have worked well there if she proclaimed she was a Wiccan or Satanist? You might think it a character flaw on her part but in all reality it is keeping the peace in her workplace when you know without a shadow of a doubt it will make trouble there.
Iv learned to keep it to myself unless directly asked and then a watered down version is given till people reach an understanding and then and only then can I tell them what I believe who I am and what I am.
True friends know, and I like them to catch me when I don't follow my beliefs as well...odd?
I'm brutally honest to a fault, but it is who I am. Those around me and close to me know where I stand. If questioned, I answer honestly.
Very few family and friends know of my beliefs. My sister, who doesn't attend church anymore but still is a devout believer, and I were just discussing religion yesterday. She doesn't understand why I believe more scientific things and not in more religious things. So i'd have to say, no, i'm not 100% completely honest in my beliefs with EVERYONE I meet but the ones who do know are the ones I love and trust with anything and everything. As for everyone else, if they don't know then they don't matter to me.
I hide nothing, and yes it is hard because of people with small minds and big mouths.
But what they say doesn't change who or what I am. I pity them for they are blind to what wonders life hold.
Well, for the most of the "wird" things in my life I am being honest...
Let's say that I am hones in 90% of the cases and issues, if the person deserves my honesty...
I live in a country who has been under Communiste Regime for 50 years and where the old beliefs and habbits die really hard and where people accept really hard things even like Vampire Rave...
So I try to keep a safe distance from all the things or people that would create problems with my life choices and I base my truth on the saying:" What you don't know, can't hurt you".
Here on the internet? Not at all. In real life I am a lot more secretive about it though.
If I am asked directly and I think the person is going to stay open-minded, then I will not hide anything. I will not just volunteer my beliefs or shove it down someone's throat. If I find someone to be closed-minded, then I keep my beliefs to myself.
Darkicewolf, if you don't want people knowing something of such a personal nature, simply keep it yourself. If by chance they do find out and question you aboiut, then it's up to you to make a decision as to whether or not you want to divulge any further information. It might open up an other-wise closed door between the 2 of you. If you decide not to take the conversation any further, simply smile and say, "I'll tell you ut you have to be naked when I do." They either look at you in horror and walk away or laugh and leave it alone. Either way, the subject is dropped.
Yes, I feel I am a very open person when it comes to my beliefs & what I do. I have nothing to hide
It's not that I have anything to hide, I live in the bible belt. There are more churches than anything other than homes here. Since this is Florida, there are also elderly people who are very set in their ways and closed minded, especially when it comes to religion.
I've always just felt that the ones who need to know are the ones who will love and care for me unconditionally, regardless of what I believe. I try to keep my temper in check and have flown off the handle at someone when they began calling me rude names because of my beliefs, instead of chalking it up to everyone can't agree and believe everything. My mother, husband and my closest friends know me better than anyone, including my beliefs, and love me nonetheless.
If people dont like me for my beliefs they can shove it.
does it matter what others think or not believe? first be true to who you are.
If people ask, and I feel they should know then I tell them the truth. No hiding here.
I'm honest, I'm just me. Why should I hide who I am and my beliefs?
I am honest for the most part. The only things I dont give out is personal info.
I am a very honest person. I tend to tell people what I think, when I think and how I think whenever the need arises. I have been told that I need to keep my mouth shut sometimes. But I just don't see teh tend to BS people and tell them what they want to hear. If you ask me a question, I will tell you the truth wether you like it or not.
I don't even know what my beliefs are myself heh.
I'm in no rush either. I'm too busy living. If someone gets upset because of that, that's fine.
I love sharing my beliefs with others and seeing what they believe. It often leads to extremely interesting debates. so I find it fun to share. I am completely honest about my beliefs. I see no reason not to be. If people get angry because of my beliefs then it is their problem and not mine.
i am 100% true to my religeon i dont care what people think.. people can accept it or hae it.. i dont mind you all are what you are .. i just hoop that if you talk to me that you have at least a partial open mind....
I do not tell my family my beliefs.. just easier that way. Certain friends do know the real me and others know a different side of me, again to make it easier in life.
I will not lie if asked, but I do not sure much with my family and friends. My boyfriend and a couple other people know, besides everyone on here of course.
To think about it, this is probably why many of us are here. To be able to share our beliefs with someone who really understands what we are going through.
Food for thought,
Rev. Ravyn
Ok, I meant "share much" not "sure much". Sorry for the misspelling...
Rev. Ravyn
I do hide some things as does most people I have some things no one needs to know so I hide it.
I never hide what I practice. If people won't except me then they aren't worth my time. Once you start hiding, you'll do it forever. How are you to built a honest realtionship if you must hide something as importan as that?
i try to be honest about who and what i amand about what i believe in.
I am honest about everything. I kinda stay to myself, but if someone does ask, I tell them the truth. I am the type of person that I don't give a crap about what anyone says or thinks of me. The way I see it is that if someone doesn't like you for being you, then you can't like yourself for being someone else. So live life honest and happy. My whole family (immediate and in-laws) know that I am bi, don't believe in the bible, and have questions about God. I do believe in God, however, I wonder about things. I don't believe in organized religion nor do I believe in anything I can't see. Well except God. If that offends anyone, they will move on.
Yep, I'm honest about it. And I've brutally honest about what I don't believe in as well.
I believe in being tactful and respectful. There are some situations in which I won't express my personal beliefs simply because they might hurt or offend others. It isn't always necessary to shove what I believe in some one else's face, just as I expect them to remember that when it comes to me.
I am truthful though, my old employer was shocked and slightly offended when he found out I don't go to church. I shrugged it off, I support his beliefs, it is none of his business what I do when it comes to my own.
i am honest if people do not like what i belive in then they do not have to talk to me
It's a kind of "don't ask don't tell" policy where I work..I keep my beliefs and practices to myself, as I work with the public in a very family-friendly type of place. However if it does come up in conversations I am honest about it. Outside of work I don't hide what I think or feel.
i am honest but people don't need to know what i do in my private life unless i know them really well
There are some people I trust and will openly discuss my beliefs. However, I am careful not to cast pearls before swines.. I know what I know and do not feel the need to convince people that believe other wise.. I just respect that they believe differently.
For the most part, I am an open book and anything you want to know, all you have to do is ask.
Worst case scenario is that I tell you that something is none of your business.
If so, ya deal with it or get pissy...neither one will hurt my feelings.
All the personal stuff is pretty much reserved for whomever it is that I may be in love with.
She would be the only one privvy to my deepest life info.
I am honest to a fault. Pretty much asking me any question will result in the non-sugary coated bitter truth and if it hurts you to know the truth, then you shouldn't have asked me.
I am not afraid to tell people what I believe in. Not everyone is going to believe in the same things as the next person, don't be ashamed of who you are or what you believe in.
The minute we start worrying about what other people think about us is the minute we let other people start to control our lives.
yes I am a very Honest person. I have nothing to hide about my belifes or anything else
i'm honest about what i believe in..... if someone wants to be my friend they will accept me for me..... and i'm a really good friend.... *smiles*
To my family and some casual family-friends, yes, pretty much all of them. I don't feel that it's deceiving them, I feel like they wouldn't understand...No, I know they wouldn't, so I figure what they don't know won't hurt them.
My friends, my real friends, on VR or real life, I'm 100% straight up about what I believe in.
I am on alliance with soulshroude I am a chess player so i give a little but when the plans come in it crushes
I have been and always will be nothing other then honest about who I am and what I believe. In fact that was mentioned the other day at work. Someone made a comment to me and I had a quick comeback of honesty. The man was stunned and turned to his friend who then replied.. if you dont want the truth then dont talk to her. Both men are regular customers in the casino I work in and everyday I talk to them. So it is understood there was no disrespect intended. Just an explain of my honesty.
This is one place where I can feel comfortable with what I am and like. If people don't agree with me that's their people. I hang with the people here that are open minded and accepting of others.
"Do you hide what you practice or believe in because you know people will have a hard time excepting it?"
I don't have the patience to explain what I believe in to anyone...I guess it COULD be considered "hiding"...but I don't really much care what anyone else thinks about that...
I am completely honest as I have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of.
dam im as honest as i can be but when comes to religion i dont hide mine.. but i dont just put it all out on the table to be laughed at, im a emotional person and alot of things can hurt me,
well i will put it another way if u dont ask i dont talk about it.. but if you ask i wont lie to ya..
