i believe that there is a guardian of death, i just don't think there is just one

I do not see them in the religious context, but in Universal light. Since we are energy in a certain form, our spirit, matter, lifeforce...Call it what you will, is taken from the Universe, thus the Universe claims it back.

But, I must digress, since we are a part of the Universe, we are not taken, nor claimed from or inpart of the Universe, we are as we are, the energy of the Universe. If that makes any sense.

This, we flow in the direction the Universe provides, whether it be on this our Earth, or into the omniverse the cosmos has provided.

i think as everyone has their own guardian Angel, everyone has their angel of death. Reaper what ever you want to call it. The angel of death knows when to come and get us when it is our time. I do believe that the day we were born there is a time for our death. So why could it not be possible to have the angel of death arrive at our time to move on from this plane?

This have a long time confused me. I would say both yes and no depending on how to see it. I don't believe in the reaper as a type of deathangel if put it in that way. But when die it can be the energy that go lose that can be called something like that. Maybe.

their are many reapers i have seen them they are the guardians of death and they have a bad temper i have to help two with a problem and i went on my way after that

I never really gave thought to their existance until you posted this. I'm not sure they exist... Unless jesus is a reaper, because people claim to see him when they die ;-P

there are the living reapers that love challenges when fighting and there are the dead reapers that collect souls.....if you see the living you would know to stay away from them....even if they are rare don't get near them.....especially guys....they wont hesitate to slay you.....girls on the other hand most aren't likely to bother....that doesn't mean that all of them are kind enough to stay away from girls.....so stay away from them.....its not a threatening thing because the living ones only come out 20% of there lives.....yes they die and become reapers that reap souls.....its an odd process.....more than half of the people that see this will ignore it and keep going with there lives.....but when they are the ones being chased by a living reaper they will be the ones to remember the advice that was giving.....to those that do listen I'm honored to have your attention....thank you for reading...

well I feel that their are angels of death just as there are guardian angels. I feel they are what helps us to cross over when we pass. I feel there are more than 1 Reaper as you call him / it, they are angels of death.

i've always thought of reapers as a lifeform that just does its job and plays its part in the web of things. i was very happy when i saw the tv show called Dead Like Me because it portrays reapers in just such a way.

I believe that there is something that takes us through our death whether we may call it a reaper or something else.

I don't think we are alone when we pass..there is something with us to help us on our journey to guide us where it is we are going.

I think the reaper is a mythological representation of our fears of the unknown and the dark.
A way for our mind to give a name to that fear within us.
A way to fight back what we can't fight back.
A way to deal with what we don't want to face but have to.

Every culture I know of has a Reaper of some kind. A being to lead the dead to wherever.....

And I also agree that is not just one reaper. Way to many souls for just one.

Pertaining to the post concerning "living and dead reapers", do you base this claim off of fantastical ideas, or do you have written documentation to back these claims?

You see, any individual can make up a simple character that cooresponse to a certain genre. For example, death. We can say that there is an actual living reaper, even though the whole of society has never heard of the term before, but...Without actual documented facts to back up this claim, then there will always be speculation to boot.

If you have a website, or a book to refere the unlearned to it would be appreciated. Other than just saying "living and dead" reapers actually exist. As well as would benefit the resources and directories a good deal pertaining to paranormal investigations and these matters.

you may kill your living reaper other wise known as your guardian angle.....but it is not advised.....if you do the rules for the living reapers may be suurpased and you are allowed to be slain by a living reaper.......you may not however kill the dead reapers......they cant be killed....they are dead living reapers that followed the rules of the first dead reapers.....if the rules are broken the living reaper loses his/her right to become a dead reaper....they shall have no place to go when they die for there treason....

Enough of this babble already, if you have documented proof or evidence to back up your claims that "guardian angels" are quoted as "living reapers" a term many have not heard of before, then bring it to the table.

If not, then justify your thread and posts with at least less fantastical answers for discussion instead of going on a tirade about rules and regulations for a character that seems to be manifested into something it is not.

i think the way society produces them in imagery is frightening to most and that they do exist i believe they are usually awaiting to take souls that pass on to another place.

Dont know and really havent given this much thought before.But if they are personafied, it could stand to reason there would be more than one.

I beleive its possible for them to exist due to purpose. For those who die without knowing it, or refuse to understand it, maybe a reaper would come to talk to them and whatnot.

I'm not sure if I believe in them or not. I kinda think that our time of death is set at the moment of conception.

I believe there is something that comes when someone is about to die. I don't believe it's evil nor good. It just comes to take the life, a neutral being. I don't believe it's there to guide you through the process. My opinion some people can see them, however just because it's your time to die does not mean you will see one.

As for living reapers, I've never heard this theory before. A reapers job is to gather something. So then what would a living reaper be gathering. Maybe there are some similarities with a guardian angel and a reaper, but they are by far very different beings.

I agree with Soulshroude. You have been politely asked twice, as far as I can see, to show some documentation of this but you ignore each request.

If this is indeed some imagined idea based on some fantasy character that you're trying to get a discussion going on, then it's pointless. You need to either link us to information beyond your own that describes this, mentions this, etc.. or list a book that we can find regarding it.

Personally, however, although my mind is open, I can't help but find this to be pretty silly - the idea of living reapers that slay women, or whatever it is you're talking about just doesn't even seem probable, possible, or even in the realm of "maybe".

Unless you can give us more information beyond your own ideas that references these "living reapers", this thread also seems pointless.

I believe in them. More than they are just an omen of death.

Personally I think they more or less represent the darkness what scares most people. You right you should be terrified of the living rather than the dead ones. They don't collect your soul and let you move on...they kill for their on amusement.

for if we believe in vampires werewolves or other tales of the night , why could we not believ in angels of death to come guide us to the after life.

A reaper is a person (or machine) who reaps, or harvests (This can also mean reaper of souls, the harvester of souls..) (cuts and gathers) crops when they are ripe.

As for myself personally, I believe that there is a guardian of death just like there is a guardian angel for everyone. It really depends on the person and their thoughts as to what each feels is right or wrong. A reaper or guardian of death or guardian angel would be a being that is there to watch over us or guide us to where we are supposed to be.

Reapers, hmm... Honestly, I happen to love the concept from the point of view of, if you've had the pleasure of seeing shows like "Dead Like Me" where certain souls are chosen upon their death to serve as Reapers. Each day they receive a list of names and times and must find that name, make physical contact and leave them to their fate. The purpose of the Reaper making physical contact before death allows the person's spirit to be able to accept their death and move on to the next "life".

If we're talking Death Metal type reapers instead of the Blue Oyster Cult, then I am just disappointed if and when I have to meet one.

Grim Reaper?
I'd say the Grim Reaper is simply to personification of whatever form the perceived force of death takes.

I believe that something comes and takes your soul, when you die, but Im not sure where you soul goes.

I belive in them completly, i think some kind of angel comes and gets your soul when you die.

vamp345 on one thread you claim to be a vampire and on this oen you claim to be a reaper. What proof do you have? I mean you can not be both at the same time

especially since the reaper is only reason to exist is to rip the life off but a vampire is to feed and create other beings like him/her....so please clarify this cause even logic now prooves this reaper is not existing and then it just don't make sens anymore to claim bing something that do not exist.

Smotherme: In answer to your question from my point of view its because the reaper has always been associated with the dark. Not many have looked at it in any other way. As you can see here in the posts there is a difference that all are pointing out.

Reaper is someone who is there to take ur soul when u die and guide it to where it needs to go!

Personification of Gods/Goddesses is inherent to all Cultures and Religions. When I think of Death, I do not usually picture the Grim Reaper, himself, coming to harvest my soul--though the thought of him is a silent reminder that time is quickly moving and with each passing day, I am that much closer to the end of my mortal time here.

In response to SmotherMe...I think the reason that reapers are shown to be dark is because of death itself...some perceive that to be a dark and solemn time so that is why they portray them to be dark.

For some though...I think they could be portrayed in a different manner depending on how you view death.

Most people see Reapers as Takers of the soul... really, they're more harvesters or guides. When it's your time to go, it's just your time to go. The reapers are just there to guide you home.

I belive that there are guardians of the dead, but not just one eerie thing with a sickle and a black cloak.

I think they are not only guarding the halls of death, but some could be sent in order to help ease the journey from this life into the next.

I think the reason for the reapers to have been given their bad reputation and creepy look is because people fear death and what happens after.

It's a very interesting theory really. My mother called me from her work. She's a CNA and her patients have talked about seeing shadowy figures in their rooms either sitting on a chair or standing nearby. Not sure if these are reapers, or watchers/guardians. She called because they described them exactly as i saw them as a child through adulthood, and i suppose she thought I might know what they are exactly. I am still curious to this day but I guess in my viewpoint....they are more than just one thing. Maybe they have "assignments", like the reapers you speak of.

i believe the reapers keep us balanced. without them wede go crazy. they take what we hold dear to us, our life, and can do it at anytime. they have control and keep us from goin completely mental on others for fear of them.

I think they have control over time, because they hold the hour glass in there hand. In the tarot, scorpio is the ruler of death, because it represents the end of something and the beginning of something new in everyday life, because time progresses for eternity.

In my experience Reapers are like a race of being, when I seen them there was 3 side by side, also they are not walking bones with robes like the pictures, more like shadows in robes, before that moment I never had such trouble getting back into my body when I somehow came out, I can never seem to do that on my own lol, but the pull was very strong, and obviously I managed.

I think they are reapers out there taking souls to heaven or hell, and they have a list of names so they can know what souls to take at what time

I believe there are those who guard us in life and those that help us on along our path of death to where ever our spirit may continue on to or come to a resting place...

The Grim Reaper is just a personification of death itself whereas an angel of death was suppose to bring death for whatever reasons according to whatever faith. Honestly I don't know because most of the time periods spoken about this way were hundreds of years ago and if it happens now no one talks about it except in places like here questioning what it is and what is believed. I certainly would believe it was someone who comes to aid you because I would suppose it is a traumatic experience at first. There are times when people state someone passed peacefully. Do you mean like someone comes to give some form of verdict that is unsuspected, that would initially end in death? I don't think I believe in that but I don't have all the answers.

I dont think much of them however when ever I think of a reaper, I think of the grim reaper in the way of in year 7 year 8 ( 82 83) in school ads where brought out using the grim reaper. Was when Aids was first come out and he was what happend if you caught it. Bowling alley with pple as ten pins sitting at the bus stop etc etc.

I do beleive there are reapers. Death has to have some help, and I think that the reapers could be ordinary people.

I do not believe in "Reapers" or angels of death. I think that the grim reaper was created so that we can put a face with the concept of death. I mean there are alot of things that we don't and will not ever understand about death, or the things that happen after we've passed away. So maybe by creating the concept of the grim reaper, we're just trying to put a face to death so that we will possibly know what to expect.

I don't think there's a 'grim' reaper who comes for you when you're about to die, I think it's more like a dark angel who helps you cross over once you have already died.

Reapers are supposedly the angels of death, who come to take your soul across 'the great divide' so to speak. I don't really believe in their existance, though.

Has anyone seen "defending your life"? Whatever you want to call it, the "passed on" or "angels" are assigned a group of people to help with the "transition", kind of like a case worker if you will. I think it's sort of like that in my belief system.

To me, It would depend on what you personaly believed. If you beleive something strong enough it takes on a mind of its own. So although these beings may exsist, If you do'nt believ the do, they would not appear to you. Those who do may have their own. Perhaps like a banshee.

well this is intresting and its i am almost certain reapers can be real cause hey how can this be proven that its not?. well as i see it a reaper can be another type of demon common to collect the devils do's old by the other people such as of course collecting his souls he was promise in exchange for what ever the person sold his soulf for. it could also be nothing more the a lost person who died with out ever finishing their purpose and became a soul reaper as a means to be useful sence they has passed on and is stuck tell they get reborn or pass on to where they should have gone.

Reapers aren't the bringers of death. They are merely guides to the underworld.

I was taught that when you die, 1 of 2 things will happen... The Reaper will come to fetch you, in which case, you've fulfilled your purpose and can pass into the underworld or you will simply wake up again but as something else with nothing more than a weird case of DeJaVu...

like cops they have a job to do. just imagine if the dead were not collected.

the reaper itself is the one that brings you to your post life destination. in that sense there are many possiblilities on what it could be. such as, . the person you were closest to life, would bring you to heaven if you lived your life in a godly fassion. however if you lived it in sin satan or the grim reaper might take you.. or. the person you were closest to in life may take you on to eternaty if you lived a good life, or if you were evil. you may be taken away by your most hated rival or greatest fear and tortured for all eternaty

reapers are kind of like the angel of death i think right? they come to u when u die and take u to limbo where u wait to be judged. never seen one never heard anything else about them, was never really interested I kind of don't like the idea that one day I wont be here I wont be me any more u know? kind of disturbing if u ask me...

Personaly I believe in reincarnation and that when a person die's their soul is passed to another.

In Mexico and parts of the Southwest's folklore, there is a reaper of sorts - seeing a snow-white owl hoovering about usually portends the death of a loved one - or yourself. I'm still trying to obtain more info on this.

6 months before grandmas death, one incidence happened.

there was around 10 pm (22 hours). my self, my three years kid he is now 14 and my wife were resting on bed in my room.

suddenly grandma she was resting in laying on her bed in room, started shouting, she is burning me, she is burning me, when my mom and dad went to heal her, i did not go to her room so that she don't get more worried. she told my mom that one old lady came and started burning her with the torch flame litting her body with the flame.

and at the same time as she spoke, my kid whispered to my wife. Mom aunty is calling you. he whispered two time. Mom aunty is calling you. though no one was calling my wife. I told him, "son, say aunty hello"

after few minute of the incidence my mind was hovering the incidence. I asked son who was that aunty? he don't know but she was calling very friendly with love, "Anita, Anita"

I think ( my opinion only, did not try to meditate on the reality of reapers ) there is some thing beyond common and physical coz many peepal do sense the death before their death take place and its all tehy come to sense through any spirit which is in this phenomena the reaper.

being a witch I don't like the word reaper it 's too morbid to me they are more like guides who come to you after you die to help you to get to where your going it could be a family member or someone you loved .I don't believe in the big scary guy in black with a sickle in his hand.
