A few weeks ago I experienced something which scared me to death, until My love explained what had happend to me.
Apparently I had been haunted by the so called Incubus or Succubus, or "brain ghosts".
I woke up in the middle of the night, in a kind of dreamy state but knowing that I was awake since I had my eyes open and I was in my room. I heard someone or something whispering to me, I don't remember what exactly but there was something about "going to bed with me"... It was like this whispering voice was right next to me, but I couldn't see anything... Though for a few minutes I thought I could see a shade of some kind of monster... My heart was pounding and I was sweating, I couldn't move at all... It was like my body didnt listen to me, I was just frozen.
I don't remember for how long this lasted, but it felt like forever... Until I finally managed to get up... I didn't sleep more that night.
Has anything like this ever happend to you? I'm curious to know about your experiences...
In medieval times of Europe, attacks of sleep paralysis may have given rise to the belief in mara, incubi, succubi, other demons and witchcraft. People in England believed that witches or hags rode on men's chests as they slept, and the feeling of being unable to breathe was attributed to a hag. This is why people who have had very little sleep may be described as looking "hag-ridden".
Sleep paralysis is a condition characterized by temporary paralysis of the body shortly after waking up (known as hypnopompic paralysis) or, less often, shortly before falling asleep (known as hypnagogic paralysis).

On many occasions I have had similar experiences to Adora's. None recently. On each occasion I was unable to move, and was having a nightmare about the devil or a demon coming to kill me in my bed.
Nightmares are nothing new. The particularly distrubing facet of these is that I am awake during most of it, and still cannot stop it from occuring.
The paralysis that occurs in deep sleep stages can explain most of this.
As a side note, I was also prone to "night terrors" as a child.
A night terror, or incubus attack is a horrifying "dream" in non-REM sleep. This is different from a nightMARE, which occurs during REM. Durring an incubus attack, one can be partially awake, but in the twilight stages of sleep, giving them the feeling of being awake when they are not fully conscious. I have these sorts of dreams frequently, but not usually terrifing ones.
I haven't heard of this before, nor have I experienced it myself. I would suggest wearing a few protective charms to bed to prevent it from happening again.
a few months ago, i awoke in the night to feel a cold dead hand clasping mine. it felt soft and clammy, and though i could move my thumb around, the rest of me was paralysed. i tried to speak, but could not. it was a most unpleasant and unsettling feeling. i sensed there was someone else in the room, but was unable to see anyone.
I guess I have had something similar....although one time I was awoken to something screaming in my ear. Another time I heard "hmmmm" in my ear, I have heard breathing, I have even felt my shoulder pulled down, and my head pushed into my pillow at night.
i once had a poltergeist fall in love with me. it wasnt funny - it was real scary, and it got jealous if i had a girl round.
It is a nice explanation, but certainly not the only one. There are modern plausible explanations for what you describe, check it out. Not always best to go with the first thing someone tells you.
RavenEyes, about the protective charms... I am not really familiar with spells and such, but I am willing to try since I believe in it in a way... And I'd be glad never to have such an experience again.
karnstein, what you describe sounds even worse... To actually be touched makes the whole thing seem more real...
I'm sure there are many kinds of myths about this thing, I have read about the so called incubus... Though I'm with AntiEveryone that it might still be "fake", I mean that it doesn't necessarily have to be anything mysterious or magical about this phenomenon... Like with everything else, I'm sure this has a scientifical explanation. Though it's difficult to say which explanation is the right one, I am definitely curious to hear all of them...
From the admittedly little that I know, the incubus was a male and the succubus was a female. They would come to people in their sleep and have sex with them. During this process, they would steal the life force of a person and eventually the person would die from said attacks. I don't know of any records of anyone actually dying from this, but it's a myth that could possibly still be occurring today.
There is indeed a certain type of deep deep sleep where you are unable to move, this is an amazing thing that serves a great purpose, that is to keep us from moving and potentially harming ourselves during sleep. But, occasionally this mechanism has a bit of a glitch, sometimes one wakes with this mechanism still in place...therefore not being able to move. This natural occurrence has been tied into stories of the supernatural variety for a long long time and only recently have we found the real culprit. The heavy dreaming comes with just such a deep sleep and not being able to move is terrifying if you don't understand why you cant, this paralysis coupled with dreaming makes for a chilling story.
i had several experiences similar to this one, however all of them took place when i was a child and sick with scarlet fever. i was hallucinating, felt like i couldn't breath, most certainly couldn't move. it was terrible.
I have heard of this happening but not of it being a incubus/succubus experience. I just always thought it was simply a bad spirit.
i think the idea if the incubus and succubus stems from a number of things - firstly, the sleep paralysis phenomena that anti mentioned, secondly - the basic fear that whilst asleep we are utterly vulnerable, and thirdly as a way to disassociate ourselves (and thus avoid guilt) from "wet dreams". most western religion and culture looks upon sex as something dirty and wrong, so sexual dreams were considered shameful and sinful. even in these more enlightened times, we have inherited some of these attitudes.
i haven't had an encounter with incubus or succubus but i had an almost similar scary experience in bed..
i was sleeping with my feet settled above a pile of pillows.. after sometime of drifting and light sleep, i felt i was floating but i ignored it.. then i had a feeling that i am bound in chains and i cannot breath and i cannot even move. when i opened my eyes, i saw that i was hovering slightly above the bed and dropped back to the bed (i knew it because it felt my feet tumble back on the pile of pillows) and i can breath again...
Sleep palysis, nocturnal emmisssions, vivid sexual dreams.....there is something happening here and you don't what it is...but it is not in your head, it is not a bodily response to enforced celebacy,,,it's them. They are you nightmares and your dreams, and they will drown you in erotica. that is their purpose,,,from hell
I have never heard of a succubus in terms of a ghostly or spiritual entity. My previous experience with the term succubus was in reference to a female that drained the life from a male victim.
i know how you feel....i have had them many times before....
and they feel so real when you wake up still...
i can never go back to sleep after either and have to leave the bedroom or i just keep staring at where i last seen them lol
I have been visited by an Inccubus for about a week and it was very weird but exciting at the same time. I felt alive and wanted and the desire to never wake up would doubt my mind over and over again. The passion the heat i felt were addicting i believe it to be the best senation ever!
Theword "incubus" is from the Latin meaning "nightmare", and induced by such a deamon. Some find the experience pleasurable, others find it frightening. I guess it depends on your view of erotic experience. "Succubus" is derived from "secuba" or paramour, and succubare "to lie down". Personally I find such deamons erotic and pleasurable, but I enjoy the company of deamons.
I live with an Incubi and he feeds of me, actually of my sexual energy, (shadowxangel) their is a diffrence between spirits, ghost and demons, although they seem similar, they are still all different and do drain from us human, different things and form or energy. Some sexual, some emotional, and others sorts.
he would be considered a Pranic feeder taking from you energy from sex, and for those whom are still experencing these feelings, try burning some Dragons Blood,it works wonders
I've had experiences somewhat like that, only I wasn't awake. It was a dream, but I knew that it wasn't my mind's own making...Does that make sense? It was as if I knew that the dream wasn't natural, that something was in my dreams...
well...got something like what you had, but wrost i think...for mor then a month, i felt that somthing sitting over my whole body..and i can move any thing even my fingers...i wanted to screem out for help but i couldn't and it was so heavy that i can feel my heart will explode insdie...and i know that i wasn't dreaming cuz my eyes are opened...i can;t imagine how i was feel..but believe i was terrified scared to death....and just suddenly disappear after a long time of suffering
i didn't do any thing to protect my self in night......but now i didn't have that thing again
but asked some one and he told my its one of satan's servants wants to get inside...but me soul was fighting him..so its like souls fight....
having spent many years as a Satanic high priest, and having studied all manner of religions, beliefs and legens, and demonology, the incubus /succubus are male and female versions of the same thing. they visit a person in thier dreams, and engage in sexual activities with them for the sole purpose of stealing thier life force from them. a form of "Vampire", lol.
Bram Stoker used the Incubus as the basis for His Dracula.
That sort of thing is really common, but extreamly disturbing to most people, I have has similar thing happen, but nothing sexual,
Well, this explains a lot. I have also had similar experiences. I have panic anxiety disorder, and I flipped out. I like the idea of burning Dragon's blood for protection! I hope that works for you!
Yes in the vampyre community they use the terms succubus and incubus for the enticing sexual vampyre. Some use Eros and they use to use pranic but it was a misnomre because that would only mean an energy feeder. I have also seen tantric used as well. I think I prefer Eros as it is straight forward and doesn't have so much myth surrounding it.
An inccubus is a spirit or demon thought in medieval times to lie on sleeping persons, especially women, with whom it sought sexual intercourse, whereas a succubus, in folklore mostly, was a female demon thought to have sexual intercourse with sleeping men whilst stealing their "lifeforce" or "life energy".
Many of those who believe to have had experiences with one of the aforementioned creatures describe a feeling of full-body paralysis, difficulty breathing, and occasionally sexual arousal and extreme fear or terror.
Essentially, the incubus is a lewd demon which seeks sexual intercourse with women. It is also termed follet (French), alp (German), duende (Spanish) and folletto (Italian). The corresponding demon who appears to men is the succubus. When associated with one particular witch or sorcerer, both incubus and succubus are known as magistellus, or "familiar". Inasmuch as the nightmare dream is sexual in latent content, incubus is often used interchangeably with The Mare Demon; in fact, the Latin word for nightmare is incubo (to lie upon). The incubus can assume either a male or a female shape. Sometimes he appears as a full-grown man. Sometimes as a satyr or in the form of a demon, and if it is a woman who has been received as a witch, the incubus generally assumes the form of an animal.
Succubus is a demon in female form, specialized in seducing men. Although feminine in meaning, in form this medieval Latin word, succubus, is masculine (because demons were supposedly sexless) the feminine form succuba (strumpet) is occasionally found.
For people who have had and/or are having such experiences, practicing auric blocking, erecting defensive walls, and training one's mind to actively and passively put up "walls" has proven effective defense against such "entities". Though the development of such techniques and daily practices may prove difficult, the end product has shown exceedingly exceptional and satisfactory rewards to those who stick to the practice of these processes.
For those who wish to learn one technique that I use not just for this reason, but for several others including mental and auric blocking, please talk to me. I can attempt to teach and walk you through the form that I use that has proven exceptionally well, in my opinion, when applied to the subject at hand, as well as others.
I ahve also had an experiance like that, although I was wide awake and suddenly I couldn't move. I was sitting in the bath when it happend. I just froze, I couldnt move anything, I heard something I couldn't really make out. Then all of a sudden I couldn't breathe. I was choking on nothing. After about a min or so it let lose and I was able to breathe, although Istill couldn't move. This happend about three time before I ended up passing out in the bath. Is this the same thing? or something different???
My experiences with that type of dream has always been that I wake and can not move - but hear someone whispering to me. Is that the same thing?
I recall something similar has happened to me... I remember I was staying at a friends place in an old part of Sydney. I was crashed out in the lounge room after a big night on the town. I woke up about 3.00am to find I couldn't breathe and something was weighing me down. It was very scary. I couldn't scream or call out to my friends. I am sure to this day there was a not very nice presence in that room. I will always remember it.
I had an experience like this where I ended up strangling the intruder in my head after it tried to seduce me. Well it happened while I was dreaming. But after that I felt as if I was freed from some sort of... all I can call it is deamon.
I have had a couple nightmares like that too. I felt something evil in my room i woke up but couldnt move. I was scared. I tried to yell or even move a finger but it felt like something was pinning me down.
If a succubus or incubus is in your head it means that you might also have some of their powers. i would suggest some form of non-christian exorcism.
The Discovery Channel has a show called "A Haunting" One family from te USa decided to take a job in Guan Zhou, China fo better business salaries...blah blah blah.
Soon after the wifr and two girls would find tarantulas in cupboards, snakes i bed and the distinct sound of footsteps enering their bedrrom (incluing the door opening afer a moment the entity whispered teh girls name and sared to pull on her nightgown.
I am unsure if this just falls under naughty spirits or if there is more to it.
I agree with KerwinBane. I had a sleep paralysis experience once, and it did feel like there was a spirit keeping me from moving, but it wasn't.
As for if it was an incubus...wouldn't you have been in love, not terrorized? You would have felt some sort of insane lust...
the only incubus/sccubus''s that i have ever heard about from other people were ones that actually,"held the people down" i have never experienced this and i am glad
I have had a Succubus in my bed (not of my own free will) it was a experance that I was both extreamly erotic and scary also. Yes certain herbs and other things should help, but it depends on the powerof the spirit
Whether physical or spiritual, these experiences can be terrifing. There have been several physical causes explained so far, but I have no doubt there are spirits that take advantage of the realm between sleep in its many levels and full alertness.
I have never had this happen to me but my ex had them all the time I would lay there and watch him knowing that he was semi awake but I would leave him with this till he would call out for me to help him, wake him up cause he was unable to wake up on his own at these times one good way to get away from it is to sleep on the opposite side of the bed to what you are used to seems to confuse the thing
I would suggest a protection pendant of some sort or put a protection spell around your bed.
I agree with everyone here it does happen and you need to ward yourself from these attacks
I had done some pretty evil things in my youth and at one time I was visited by a faceless woman that stood at the foot of my bed with a warning like stance...resultingin my doing a series of wardings to prevent another occurance. My advice is to find your paticular warding and perform it for your own peace of mind if for nothing else.
I have been looking for more information on Incubus/Succubus. Does anyone have any knowledge on or know about literature that may cover the possibility of a Incubus/Succubus demon residing in a person until that person goes to sleep? I haven't found any information on this part of the subject, so any help would be appreciated.
The history of the Incubi/Succubi has long been a facination for me as I tend to be on the giving end of these experiences ...though there are many types of sexual creatures in legend. Succubi and Incubi through history have also been mistaken for Psy vampires as well...
I have never heard them called"brain ghosts" before.as they have little to do with that part of the body.Lust is it's first and foremost objective or to cause it and intice it's victim into sex.
I cant say that anything like this has happened to me personally but I would imagine that it would scare someone half to death. Its cool that you are willing to share this with all of us.
Thanks everyone for your responses to this...
It has been awhile since my experience and I was hoping it would be my one and only time, but unfortunately that was just wishful thinking.
I just woke up from another round of incubus attack - this time I don't even remember falling asleep. I had troubles sleeping, but I guess I must have drifted away at some point...
This time I was paralyzed again but it felt like I was moving when I know I wasn't... My eyes were wide open but I couldn't move them, just look straight ahead which means I couldn't see the demon. I was fighting to stay awake cause I felt so sleepy, but feared what would happen if I did... Besides, I couldn't sleep cause this thing kept playing with me.
I also experienced something new this time, my eyes were twitching as if I was under REM sleep and by the end of this, I felt two strong hands on my shoulders pushing me down... Last time I wasn't touched, so this scared the hell out of me and I forced myself to come out of this paralysis... Although it wasn't easy, I somehow did...
I would rather not having this happen to me again, since I'm now wide awake and scared of going back to bed...
If anyone could provide me with information about what I can do to protect myself from this, it would be much appreciated... I would like to learn how to block my aura/mind, but I need guidance since I'm relatively new in the area.
I remember experiencing sleep paralysis before, usually in the dead of night when I could swear I saw a less than normal shadow across my bedroom, almost like it was starring at me.
Last time I felt anything like sleep paralysis or a hazyness was about a month ago, but instead of a shadow I was sure I was starring at a large, white spider.
have had pretty much the same happen to me as you did and its very scarey and pretty much til now i just thought i was losing my mind so thanks for the post so i know that im not all alone in this now lol
A friend of mine got attacked by an Incubus in her sleep. She told me it was the most terrifying experience she's ever had.
The incubus takes form as a male. The succubus takes form of a female. They apear as very attractive to seduce their prey. Some think the Sirens ,that nearly sank Odysseus, were actualy succubi.
Adora, I am sorry you are experiencing this, it sounds absolutely ghastly. You are not experience panic attacks. Those fall under a different category entirely.
As for suggestions on ending these torturous events, I am wondering if meditation may assist you. If you meditate you can focus your mind before you drift off to sleep. This, after practice of course, can create an impenetrable block in your mind. I actually use it for a different kind of "attack" and admittedly it didn't work at first but now I am able to control it better. If you want to give it a whirl, simply lie on your bed andmake sure your arms are at your side and legs are not touching. Close your eyes and concentrae on your breathing, which is key. Use a 15-count for inhaling and a 15-count for exhaling. Allow your lungs to be completely filled with air. Once you feel comfortable with that, concentrate on your toes -- each toe individually. Try to concentrate on feeling each toe from tip to base and once you can, move to all your toes and then your foot. You should not be moving any body parts for this. As you work your way up the rest of your body, you will be training yourself to focus. These focal points put you in total awareness of your body and trains your mind to shut itself off from outside influences.
I realize, this is a bit of "crash course" instruction. I would be glad to go into more detail for you if you wish, Adora.
I have been visited by a succubus since I was 13.
From personal experience it’s morals that are challenged here historically.
Lets understand them, they feed on sex, they enter dreams, they become who you subconscious wish them to be …. Now that’s not a bad thing, I know vampires are sexual as well but they don’t go to all this trouble to make you happy and they bloody bite LOL.( pun intended)
Now the problems I see is the propaganda about them.
Great escape goats for nuns n priest who have a immoral thoughts or b are abused by someone in the church.
I hear story’s that they will kill you….. ask yourself your looking at a dead body, do you say I wonder what killed them, or do you say it was a succubus … who knows but I favor it to be a lie that they were killed by succubus who really needs a donor to be alive, please ignore anything I said if I wake up dead tomorrow.LOL
Second question to ask is how well versed are you on the occult that you can tell what entity did what? Peoples paradigms depict what you saw, lets hope no church propaganda is there.
I must say mine has a great bed manor and aims to please ;-), not so with other entity’s , I have the mental scars to prove it.
They are cousin to PSY Vampires the pure and original form drinking from the creation of life rather than life’s blood it’s self .
They have been linked with lilith by a rather male ignorance area of religion, who cant stand woman power .. true the spice girls drove me nuts too, but lets not forget Boadicea the greatest English warrior and why English men are good lovers lol had to get that in. why we have always appreciated and worked next too or under woman it doesn’t matter……. Woman are great leaders and multitasking to name a few quality to keep my point on who would blame and demonize lilith … not i
There’s a lot more too the succubae and a lot of misunderstanding to them too, so be the better person have a great wet dream and feed a friendly spirit today.
I agree with lavisbre. The only ones that know whether an incubus or a sucubus kill are the dead and the dead aren't talking. I was visited by one once. It was the most vivid dream ever and I'm still alive. So I wonder if it's yet another night creature that is vulnerable to hollywood hype.
I have long been a fan of these creatures, since discovering I was Incubine in many respects...
Now first things first... if you did not orgasm from these experiences it was NOT a Daemon... These creatures are legendary for feeding off of the sexual energy of an orgasm, or on stealing/depositing seed...
If was not an Incubus then it is more likely you encountered a phenomenon whereby all the sexual energy manifested in your area fell upon you. Perhaps you had a wild dream or were feeling particularly lusty... and whilst in slumber your guards, your natural shields were fallen and you were vulnerable to the metaphysical remnants of your own and other people's sexual energies... Congratulations.
If you were 'chosen' by an Incubus you are not alone. Incubi seek out their prey in physical form and often seduce them in this form too. Our goal is to have physical sexual intercourse with those we chose... Firstly, because the pleasure is greater and secondly because we can begin to feed sooner, before much of that energy dissipates...
I pray this has been helpful
I've never heard of this happening...It must have been really scary.
As long as i can remember, i haven't experienced anything like it..though i used to be haunted in my dreams when i was younger by some stranger creature...I don't know to this day what it was but it made me afraid to go to sleep. Morganx
If You Are Overflowing with The Right kind of energy It Can Draw things to you.
True enough, but you could wind up being a "target of opportunity" as well.
So then if your overflowing with energy that attracts such things to you, what are you to do to exersize this energy from your system?
Sorry to be at adead horse -- but I truly beieve that out minds allow for more strnght than we realize. We cna rpotecto ourselves with out amulets, etc (beside amuletels work basedon the beliefe and strangth of the indicidual but doent mean it would never work) Faight comes from hardship. Power of the mind can manifest so many defenses and that it wash'ts key -- FAITH.Granted a bit of quick-tongued thinking can only help...that and knowing your enemy. They are nothing more tha shadows in this plain; looking for a crack.Psychichs or hypersenities ar the best chace to facilitate a cross -over. Me? I lbelieve in bag and taggin these parasites. On te contradictory no,w would be very interestedto the otehr side of teh corin
Dutchy, thank you.
I need to start practising both yoga and mediation on a daily basis, I understand it helps a lot of people with focusing their energy and I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same within time.
Your advice is much appreciated... :)
I haven't been visited more than those two times, so I'm wondering what might have caused it...
Nikolai, since I didn't experience an orgasm either the first or the second time, I guess it must have been something else than a succubi.
Still this phenomenon is very interesting... terrifying, but interesting.
It can be worse too.It can happen to u while you are wide awake and be paralyzed, too. This much I know and can destroy many in its wake if it gets jealous, but at times I wonder if it may not be a pranic feeding vampire.Who is out hunting and has locked on to feed, because stronger vamps can touch people and maybe able too paralyze, not sure on that one.The reason I know what can happen been dealing with it for a long time now and have tried everything from banishings too cleansings and many protections and have sought advice from many and help, but alas it is still here and its touch is cold and sometimes like sticking your finger into a light socket and its no fun.
hmm.. i often hear/see things in my half sleep.. i always thought it was just my vile subconcious giving me shit.. now i can't help but wonder.. mebbe i'll try meditating the next time and seeing what i feel around me..
D
A usual sign is if you wake up feeling drained of energy, and in some cases, decidedly "unclean".
na its never happened to me so i dont belive in that. its more like a night terror than anything although i used to have them
I have actually had a simular experience... I was having a dream that i was floating over my own coffin at my funeral. In the corner of the room in my dream there was a lil demonic like imp clung to the wall, kinda like spiderman... lol, anyway, he was looking at me with a grunting laugh. I awoke and sat right up, looked in the courner of my room and there was the creature from my dream in the same corner this time in my room out of my dream, laughing the same laugh. Scared the shit out of me at the time till i asked the spirits for help and it slowly melted to the floor, getting a younger appearence as it decended, then looked like me as a baby before making a puddle on my floor the next morning the floor was still wet where it was. I was told afterwords that it was an incubus, a demon that had made an appearence for reasons unknown.
So i know how you feel about it being a freaky experience.
I have had this expericence several times and always thought I was still dreaming. I have felt that it was always the same spirit *or whatever * and it has become a welcome visitor in times of lonelyness .
I have had dreams of a dark visitor in my room, but not sure how to explain it.
Every experience I've ever had with a succubus has been rather creepy. The last time it happened, I stayed in the shower for like, two hours. It felt like I had been swimming in raw sewage.
I have been sleeping and heard someone talking to me, sometimes sexual but mostly not, and I felt like someone was holding me down. I have also felt and seen a non-existant cat sitting on my chest...I thought it was my cat that had snuck into my room but when I opened my eyes...there was only the shadow of a cat that disappeared...it scared me to daeth because I could even feel its weight on me...I guess I am just saying that weird stuff happens while we sleep...or even when we are awake.
I've never had quite the same experience, Adora. I've woken up before fighting something. I actually fell off the bed once 'cause I was fighting so hard and I could have sworn I saw a black shadow towering over me. It didn't last long. I only had a few dreams like that and I just contributed it to stress. Are you under a lot of stress?? I will suggest meditation...as a form of relaxation and also to strenghten your mind against further assaults.
Kerwin mentioned what would be my initial reaction as well. Sleep Paralysis. However, the whispering and the erotic nature...would that have merely been the remnants of a dream as you woke up or a more real interaction? Couldn't say. I do know that we are just learning about some of the ways the chemicals in our brains and the ways our neurons fire that can have some really strange perceptions. I also know that I'm not above thinking that something could be unseen and predatory.
The only thing to that instance that happened was i would wake up quickly and could not move as if i was frozen stiff. kinda freaky if you ask me but then i tend not to remember what i was dreaming about or to scared to remember who knows.
Well the only things I can remember about Incubi and Succubi...The Incubi are demons that take the form of a human male to seduce women and Succubi are demons that take the form of human females and seduce men...I may have that mixed up but I don't think I do...I think that they kill the person that they seduce, but I'm not sure of that...I haven't had any experience with either one that I can recall..I have heard voices though, nothing like what you heard but I have heard my name...I think it may be my brain running through my memory banks and replaying memories, but I'm not sure of that either...
I haven't had the experience but a friend of mine had it.
Incubus or Succubus sounds so surreal, but still there is many who are visited by them :) Karnstein: I mean just how the heck do you deal with a jealous ghost? I wouldn't have a clue what to do!
I've heard that there have been reports of people who have been visited, although I personally have never experienced it.
Hmmm what an interesting thread. i thought that this subject existed only in Greek mythology. Don't they have the ability to damn your soul to hell if you don't fight them off? Oh, and no I've never had an experience like this.
I personally don't believe in the sucubus or the incubus. I think it is connected to sleep disorders. I have a friend who lives in the midwest who is trained and does sleep studies. He said people would never believe all the things people do while they are sleeping. I have the disorder below but I don't work anymore and it appears this was my problem. It got worse as I got older and stood out and I came to believe that it was this along with my asthma. I would nod off at work, luckily for me it never happened while I was driving. I stopped working shortly afterward.
I cannot be in a place where people have been smoking or a smoky atmosphere for one. I will get drowsy. This is part of it but my dreams have been significantly impacted over my whole lifetime except for one thing. I just don't scare easily. If I am bothered or feel bothered I just tell them to go away. Heh. They have gone back to the old poltergeist definitions since all the ghost hunters started doing their thing. Any discarnate can move something and that doesn't make them a poltergeist. Poltergeist activity is associated to a person usually a young person going through puberty. For a long time they thought it had to do with telekinetic energy they could not control nor were aware of.
"Narcolepsy is characterized by episodes of frequent, uncontrollable daytime sleeping, usually preceded by drowsiness. Sometimes, the person may start dreaming immediately upon falling asleep. The episodes usually occur after meals, but falling asleep may occur while working or driving a vehicle, having a conversation, being in any non-stimulating situation, or being in situations where there is little movement (sedentary situations).
There is a brief period of sleep, and the person awakens feeling refreshed. However, the person may again become uncontrollably sleepy a short time later.
Narcolepsy may also be associated with cataplexy, a brief episode of severe loss of muscle tone in various muscles. Generalized weakness may occur for a few moments during the transition between sleep and wakefulness (sleep paralysis). Many people with narcolepsy also have dreamlike hallucinations in the transition between sleep and wakefulness."

This can happen with normal sleeping too. It is the transition between sleep and waking where we have unusual experiences that seem very real. Some call this night terrors. Sometimes people don't have this all the time. Personally when this happens I think the person is still in a dream state and having basically an hallucination. When I am well rested this never happens anymore. I don't know if there is a connection or if it is just the environment I am now in.
Of course there is always the option that it was a paranormal experience but it doesn't necessarily make it an incubus. The Entity episode had a male and two smaller ones that came to a woman and attacked her and they never decided nor could find out what it was. Some thought it was a self inflicted hallucination but too many saw things that were around her. Also Dr. Thelma Moss of UCLA investigated it and it ruined her career there. It is an enigma. Sometimes we just cannot pin down the source as to whether it comes from the mind or an outside source.
Oh wow thank you for posting that. That's really interesting especially considering the misconceptions I have over narcolepsy. I don't believe in them either. I think it's nothing more than a fable. Like putting soap at the foot of your bed for restless leg syndrome. *though I believe that does work if you believe it*
I have in the pass woken from a nightmare and found myself frozen and couldnt move. I put this down to the fact that whilst I am asleep I am still awake subconsciously still awake. Due to this being awoken in fright my subconscious still thinks I am in the dream and as such my body cannot move.
I dont believe in the Incubus or Succubus theory behind things. I believe it has to do with our brain not responding because of fear.
I think it all could do with astral travelling. If we come back to soon and we are not ready the two worlds will seem as one and our body doesnt know what is happening.
I am not sure If anyone had mentioned Lucid dreaming.
In my own words and understanding>
Lucid dreaming is a state of 1/2 wake 1/2 sleep were the brain is in what is called a wakening sleep.
And it is here most who deal with the paranormal Believe this is were most of the precognitive activity happens.(the ESP,PSI,Astral travel occurs.)And you can become paralyzed self preservation of the body the brain feels threatened.
I have never heard of the Incubus/Succubus as referenced to as a brain ghost.
and again my understanding comes from personal experiences dealing with the paranormal and supernatural.
The male AKA Incubus is to come to you as a hot young man and to have sex with you.Draining you of all your energy's.
The female comes to you as a hot woman (old hag stories can be found on the internet)And she is to take from you/males only not sure if shes lesbian but the body fluid of the male she is attacking and reproduce more children of 1/2 demon species she is.
Source MY own experiences and stories I have collected over the years as a paranormal investigator how ever if you need a reference here is a good one to start searching.
