I've been wondering if it is possible for the spirit's of those who have past on(ghosts) to recognize the energy signature of friends, loved ones or even enemies that they have known in their former lives reincarnated in the living?

My opinion is that it's possible but it would depend on how strong the energy signature was and on how intense the relationship was while they both
lived.

What do you think?

I honestly do beleive it is possible, some say that's how you find your one and only..you recognize the soul from another life. true or not, I honestly beleive it, as for I have found mine, and yes enemies as well....

i sometimes feel presences and like to think that they are of dead relatives. But i honestly do not know

I agree to a certain degree, people give off different aura's. I think that a "ghost" would be drawn to one that it has spent a great deal of time around. but they are also drawn to people with a arua thats nearly the same. Depending on the relationship. many people have a aura that draws many spirits to crossover though them, gateways so to say. It all depends on a great number of things.

yes i think its possible.. i think that my partner was with me in another life, and also i have met two ladies which i think they were my sisters in some past life... one of them is very far from me tough :(

and yes, enemies i have met quite a few as well....

Charmed -Leo- had a line that was appropriate I think...that we are drawn to the same souls in every life time so that we may recognize our soul mate.....I think I agree. I have people in my life that seemed so familiar on the FIRST encounter.

I would like to think that if the spirit of a dead friend or relative wanted to seek me out that it would have the ability to do so and to make it's presence known. But what would that say about that soul. To have achieved freedom and release from the worlds problems would hopefully mean the knowledge of how little our petty problems in this world matter in the greater scheme of things and how likely it wouldn't be that important to answer our call.

I do think that friends and relatives that have passed on can contact one still living if the connection and the need is strong.

I also do believe in that certain souls continue to find each other in different lives.

very good topic...yes, it is possible...perhaps that is how I found the one I love...I do believe in past lives, so maybe I was reincarnated into this body to be with him...

I have lost many family members & friends in my lifetime, they come to me in dreams & there are times when I feel them around me...people in my life now I know we knew one another in other lives.

I personally can account for at least one person I've found that I've known before. But, as previously mentioned in an above post, I'd hate to think of my loved ones floating around as some spirit, and not having moved onto something better than what they had to deal with here.

Wouldn't it come down to there being more to the cycle of the spirit, and energy of life than just roaming around to pay visits on the people in a world your no longer "apart of."

I would surely hope they come back to me in another life.. as a new friend, as a neice or nephew, or even a child, than to have them floating around out there.

Yes it is possible. i have the believing that i have my brother at my side some times when i'm in need of help my brother has been dead since i was born long story and how would he be there for me if he could not find me

I dont believe in ghosts at all, but I think we all have spiritual energy while we live. I have no place to say what the truth is for that matter though.

I most certainly beleve it is possible. I have heard some say Love concures all perhaps even death and maybe its the same for hate.

who knows about emotions i guess... yes as said before i have found ppl that i have met in another life.. you get that feeling about them.. and when it is good, you know that you had a good realtionship.. when it is bad, you know that they were enemies.. thus that is the degree of emotion that i know about

I believe it is very possible, Have you ever met someone for the first time and it was as if you had known each other for years, even if you are a hard person to get close to, like I am. It's happened to me and while I've never remembered any past lives (too busy trying to figure out this one) I've known them before and try very hard to keep them in my life now.
I don't like the ideal of spirits being tied to this plane but I'm sure there are some who are. I can only hope to never cause it to happen. I also believe the living can sometimes help the spirits, if they pay attention to why they are there.

For a long time I've been a major believer in reincarnation because I always wondered why I had these oddities and other such stuff. I've been reborn for about 5 past lives and still researching them. One of them was around 793 AD when I was a woman from Sumatra that held responibilities as a carpenter, a cook, and a sailor. Out of those, I love to cook, and always enjoyed the ocean. This is just a few of what I've experienced, I hope to find out more real soon so I can let you all know...

There was a great book on reincarnation I read a while ago. As I understand it, our friends that we end up with in life are generally people we knew in other lives. Soulmates, if you will. You will continue to be drawn to the same people throughout each of your lives...

The bond between the people need to be very strong in order for that to happen, I believe. Very possible, indeed.

I agree with Elemental. Each lifetime, as we go through it, we are drawn to those who we already know and meet others along the way. So yes, I do thing that spirits or ghosts can recognise energy signals and tune in to them.

I know my chosen family in any lifetime by the feel of thier energy. I draw them to me in every lifetime. There are two that almost always are my children by birth but there are others that I draw to me. It is the most wonderful feeling being able to have your true family around you.

I think it depends about serson who fill the gost and afcourse haw powerfull is the gost... not enyone could fill a gost, just there who are prepered to live this world and they have nothing to do here.

I've had a few experiences that I feel were the little messages from my loved ones who've passed away. When I feel them close to me, I do sometimes feel more than one present. I feel that they're together--that they're still linked and have a strong connection to each other.

I have touched objects and seen images and felt strong emotions.... it amazes me how sadness/sorrow and happiness both can have so much energy/power to withstand time.

Yea... that sounds about accurate... but then again... it could depend on more... such as if they are acutally a ghost or just a memory... but also, it seems like it would have to be a spirit... because a ghost is just an imprint of one's former self, whereas a spirit is acutally 'the person' in non-physical form...

I have had dreams of relatives that have passed on and it seems like they are telling me things - but I don;t always remember what. So I think it is possible that spirits can connect with us.

I personally don't believe in reincarnation or any of that. So to say that a ghost can see his past life is totally againt my way of thinking.

I'm not sure, but I would like to think so. I have been around a very long time and I feel familiar with some people even though we have never meet before.

I fully believe that they are among us reguardless of what reason hey are still here.

I believe we are synchronistic (sp) we are drawn to those we knew in former lives either to resolve old hurts or to join with them again so the answer is yes spirits do come to you..My mother does well did she longer does which means I hope she has been reborn..
We all have lessons to learn in each life tillwe get them right I dont think we're able to move on..Kinda like history we repeat past expiriences till they are done correctly

i believe they are still here, i recently went through a very major surgury for an illness i have that killed my mother, ironically, the surgury i had for this illness took place on her birthday, and i could definetly feel she was there with me

I believe it is possible and I feel it when it comes to certain "familiars" I associate with. I am very spiritual and find that if you are open with the idea a lot more comes from it...

I think it is certainly possible. Everyone has an individual aura and surely the same must be true for energy signatures. I believe it also goes a long way to explaining why we often have an instant like or dislike for someone or recognise someone we have never met.

For example, last week I was at my friend's house party and ended up hanging out with people I'd never met before rather than my closest friends who were present and I felt more comfortable with these strangers. Many of you will know that I don't make friends easily and that it is unusual for me to settle like that but they all seem familiar. There was one guy who seemed especially familiar and when I asked him, he said he felt as though he knew me as well. We went through all possibilities for the recognition but could find none.

So, yes, I believe there is something that allows either the living or the dead to recognise those they have known, even if it is not on a consious level.

I don't know about the past lives part of it... but I do know that I connect well with some people... I don't know if it's what I'd call a supernatural sixth sense or just being darn observant and incredibly intuitive...

i believe it can happen spirts will know these they have loved and cared for in there lifes as the bond you have with someone is the strongs thing around, so why should this be broken in someone passin, so i believe it can happen.

I agree Darklass. I believe that spirits will recognize us before we recognize them. And thats partially because we have more going on clouding our memories.

I think I have stated this in another thread, I truly think you will have a tendency to gravitate towards those you were close to in a previous life span.

I would think it is the spirit of self that recognizes who they are. Whether the people were family, close friends, lover or enemy, I think on a much deeper level than one's conciousness recognize who they are.

Whether it be a biological, mental, or spiritual/energy pattern, given enough time, anything can be recognized for what it truly is.

I have no doubt that spirits have a connection with those left on earth.

Yes, I think it must be possible. I mean after all, there must be something behind the statment, "I'll come back to haunt you"

As for recognizing each other in another life, I can only hope that is true so that I will evenutally be reuinited with loved ones once I pass in to the next.

ok so after thinking about this for a few minutes i would have to say that yes i think it could be possible because anything is possible its just all about having the means to make it possible...like having a strong enough life force for a spirit to detect it...but at the same time you have to think...what is a spirit?...it a simple definition is a free floating life force so why wouldnt i life force be able to detect another life force?

i think it is possible no matter how strong the relationsip is because the spent time together strengthening the bond between them and so it is possible no matter how strong or weak.

I am not experienced in this area but I have sensed things following me..heard footsteps behind me and the like...it could be spirits watching me or over me I can't be certain

I do believe as I stated before. if we are talking about non-corporal entities I think they are bound to places and people that they held strong emotion for.

I totally beleive in what you said. If the energy is strong between two people they will know. I have had spirtual experiences where I knew a loved one was with me it was so strong and at times could even feel there touch.

It sounds within the realm of reason that there is something about the ones you love that attracts you back to them.

from what i've read on reincarnation, when you reincarnate it's always as a living thing not into a living thing

i definately believe this is true. in my most depressed states i can feel the presence of loved ones around me, guiding me thru.
as to whether they are drawn to our auras, i have no idea, but will find out when my time comes i guess. i just hope that what i believe is true

I believe that we tend to travel with those we knew before so I would say yes it is possible.

I see spirits/ghosts all the time they do not fear me and make there presence known to me i do not fear them eother so i think they are aware of how some of us are different and know they can show themselves to us

There are a lot of people I've met that I've an instant, intense connection with. Whether we'd met before or were meant to cross paths now is hard for me to figure out but we met and that's enough for me.

I have dealt with that it is not often(as I dislike people) for me to have an instant connection I know that I have had past lives and I figure that is at least part of it.

I agree, I have had my share of encounters with people that I remember, but have never met before. I found my soulmate again, and I remember him, from other times, other places, and well, I know I have the right man. Until him, I never really knew what it was like to have that depth of love. We always find our way back to one another.

Well one time in a sweat lodge we were deep in prayer and meditation. A spirit wanted to tell us something they needed us to hear. They used my sisters body as a vesel so she could say what was needed to be said. She spoke in a native tongue and even sounded much older then her years. The medicine women who was pouring the sweat was able to interpret what was being said. It was a awsome experience.

It is possible. If spirits recognise one another, something is bound to bring you together, whether it's talking or something deeper. Everything happens for a reason and everything is connected.

I would answer yes. Me and my wife can complete each other sentences and read each others minds. We have been able to do it since the day we meet.

about any thing is possible when youre dead. the deceased are far wiser than many of us can imagine. even though i have met a few that werent too terribly bright that doesnt mean that they arent capable of figuring out who we were in past lives. i dont if this is true but iv heard some were that the soals you entered the world with stay with you for all time. whether that means you just run into each other or its a spirit that follows you around. i dont know but to answer your curriosity i beleive its very possible.

Theressome very strong proof out there, past life regressions, numerous other things that have been widely publicised. The only problem is if you choose to believe them or not.

I have also meet someone and I could of sworn I knew them. At times it feels as though I knew them for years. Of coure there is no possible way but it is always a cool experience.

Of course they can recognise them! they may have slightly (or more than slightyly) altered veiws on them now that they are dead, but they would always remember those close to them. God would let people remember- he's really a good guy once you get to know him.

I think anything is possible. If someone has that big of an impact on your life you will certainly be more open to accept the possibility of this happening.

It's possible to catch a hint of their presense or catch a sense of unease but its not something you can be absolutely sure of unless the connection was extremely strong. And you also have to be cautious of the 'feelings' so that you do not mistake the trace of a past loved one for an enemy.

I think a lot depends on the strength that bonded the individuals in this life. Do I believe that those that have gone on can and do communicate? Absolutely! Our individual gifts (to recognize them) and the need of the departed to communicate something they see as important or needed plays a role as well.

We are all connected one way or another, some bonds last even after death....

i feel they must have a way of noing on who ppl from there life are as some manage to come back to link with us in some way

I have a very close bond with a grandmother and she knows when I am upset or sick or hurt and always checks in on mw to see how Im doing and before I can tell her whats wrong she already knows.

I do believe we send out energy in all forms and energy is sent back to us. The deceased as well as the living.

Getting back to the original question, about how spirits recoginise the living as someone they new and such, I recieve regular visits from my Wifes Paternal Grandparents. Here is the wrinkle though, they died a few years before I met my wife. I know that they know me, and they visit me, but how would they recognise me? I also recieve visits from my late father, but I know that he would recognise me.

I'm not sure. I suppose it's possible. That would certainly explain why there are people I just dislike upon my first meeting with them. I don't know though...that one is a hard question to answer...maybe I'll think about it some more and put a better response once I've had a chance to wake up more....

i do recognize the energy signature of my grandfather whom has passed away long ago
he always like to visit my brothers and mom
as well.
so his energy signature is actually quite gentle rather than the demonic activity i have experienced around where i live

I think that I feel my stepgrandfather sometimes, and a friend of mine often feels her cuzin's spirit. I think that as far as a reincarnated spirit goes... well, I think that you could definitely sense the person that you loved most or that was in your family, or your worst enemy if you or it got reincarnated....

I believe when there is a strong connection, people who have past on trend to be drawn to us and watch over what we do. Sometimes even go though there everyday routine as they did when they where alive.

I must agree with my sister Hot. I feel that my loved ones who have passed are still with me and do little things to let me know there here.

i personally know this is a very REAL happening. I have many other experiances but this i have found to be the most profound and comforting of them all. when i was 6 years old my cousin was killed and i was blamed for it happening. this took a major toll on me and i spent months feeling like i souldn't have spoken to them the last time. then one morning, years later, in the area between awake and asleep( i am more receptive during this time) my cousin appeard and told me i had nothing to feel bad about that his decision to go into the streat where he had been hit was his own. it helped me, and since then he hasn't returned.

It would probably have a lot to do with the natural ability of the people in question. If they can't sense energy worth crap then I doubt they would.

I belive that all spirits can tell who's who when you pass on I belive you keep all memories that you have in life so you would rember friends,enemy or whomever and would be able to tell them from one another.

well I believe that each entity has a spirit inside it that never dies, so yes I think spirits do remember every other spirit they have met

If the spirit lives on in another existence it would seem to make sense that one would recognize others from before

I believe we reconnect with our familiar spirits for eternity. However, I do not believe in eternal enemies. Each life is fresh, each day new.
