If a Vampire were to bite an animal, would that animal in turn become a vampire if it survived? Would it then attack other animals and people for blood?
Yes, this will be based on myth and make believe. It is a "what if" Thread. So now that I have revealed that, please refrain from any sharp-shooting posts such as "vampires don't exist" or "vampire animals don't exist".
myth wise... good question, i dont know. they have a different genetic makeup than humans so maybe it would not work the same on animals
i dont think that the vampiric instinct can pass to animals... i cant imagine a vampire dog... or some of the sort...
I can not remember the book.. but I do remember reading in one of the million vampire novels lol .. that a vampire bite a couple of dogs.. and fed them some of his blood.. basically what they had to do to turn a human into a vamp in these books... to bind the animals to make them the daytime guards.
The animals did not turn into vmaps but they were more vicious in guarding the vamp and he had more control over them than a nomral dog.
Hmmm...I wouldn't mind if my animals where vamps...then maybe I'd get to sleep longer during the day LOL! Well except for my snakes they are already too much to handle especially the python now that would just be scary, he's already has a nasty attitude towards others.
yep i agree with the whole Guard / protection Dogs for the Vampire yet who really knows, ya know
Wow! could you imagine a crazy dog or cat running around, like a vampire. Never heard of anything such as this. it would make a great story though
that would be really cool if there were vampire animals
I have never heard of an animal turning into a vampire after being bit by one I wouldnt think that a vampire would bite an animal but ravage it for its blood or food ,
hmmm.... my immediate responce would be no, because they are an animal... but then when you think about werewolves...
I think it might be possible under those circumstances.... never read a bookt hat has takent hat idea though... except Buniccula but.. lol thats a rabbitt and he only sucks the life from veggies.
I wish I could go in and fix my typing errors.... I forgot to read that one over and fix them before I hit post...
well, i would understand the feeding of animals to get in a better connection with them and make them guardians during the daytime...
that would be a good idea
now, im pretty sure that they would be wilder than before...
and when you really think about it humans aren't much different from other animals either... if they can be turned why not an animal? About 98% of what we are made of is that same as most animals...

I think it would be very interesting to find out.... But then again, other animals don't think like people do. They kill to eat and do it throughly.... I don't think they'd leave enough there to be turned into a vampire. lol And if they did, well then, we'd be over-run.... I mean, think of all the mean tempered animals out there that just like to bite... *shudders*
I dont think a animal could be turned into a vampire the make of each are so different
Well, it is said that here in New Orleans there are numerous cats running around Jackson Square, and rumours of vampires turning into these cats.
If the myth were reality, I would not doubt this fiction. I mean hell, the were-kind can turn into dogs, so why the bloody hell not??
Interesting thought that Vampirika! I wonder if it would be possible to do that.
WOW! the thought as it was already said.."Vampire Animals go on a blood hunt.. OMG! That just would be crazy.
Well I have always thought that they became like guardians or whatever for the Vampire
IDK.. interesting thread.
All of the chickens and rats Lestat fed on in Interview with a Vampire never "turned". The horse Victor fed on in Underworld: Evolution didn't turn either.
Pretty funny though, vampire chickens and horses running around.
Wasn't there a movie about vampire cows?
some have said about dogs made vampires and becoming more of a guardian than if they were just normal dogs. that would be cool, but what if the dog turned on you? did not guard you anymore? what would happen then? would you have so much control over them that it would not happen
Never really thought much about it...Would it really affect them because they tend to not be so close to humans at all?
I guess you'd have to look into mythology and figure out what about the bite turns someone into a vampire, how it affects them and then apply that to other animals and see if it could be possible.

heeheehee.. vampire farm animals.... *thinks very silly thoughts*
A myth to say, no i do not think this would be possible for an animal to take on the traits of vampires.
Being that many animals already have fangs, there really wouldn't be a big transformation. They already bite and cause bleeding and they don't care about sucking blood. I'd actually find it quite amusing if a three-toes-vampire-sloth were after me tho, but it wouldn't make for a very exciting movie; mind you, that zombies can't walk fast, yet are still always able to somehow keep up with running people. So who knows.
There are already vampire animals. The Vampire Bat (most notably) and the mosquito and the tick, et al.
Well possibly that is how it goes bit then you turn so I could only imagine it would be the same with animals as humans.
this question ponders in my mind because in actuality anything is possible .......... right i mean if you looked at it with common sence the answer may be no but then again who is to say it could'nt or would'nt be yes .
I've seen this question floating around in 4 other posts today, so many people are asking the same question and starting new threads about the same topic.
I will give my same answer, I don't think animals can become vampires
i have heard of this animal thing that is called the chupacabra and they say it ia a vampire dog or wolf or something like that but they say it has been seen in mexico and the surounding area i don't know personally but this could be what you are looking for,for the aanswer
Do you mean:
"You made a vampire....pomeranian?"
Kind of Vampiric animals? There are vampire bats so its not entirely impossible i suppose.
I don't really think an animal would catch the vampire virus. From what I've seen in most myths, the vampire virus seems to only affect humans.
We humans are animals and we can turn into vamps..perhaps in a fantasy world vampire blood tends to mutate into human blood so why not into animals? There re vampire bats. Or how bout Apes. Apes are genetically close to the human species.
In looking for some imformation on this subject I found this.
Vampire Animals
A vampire's best friend...
Vampirism is not a disease limited to only human corpses. Vampirism has been known to be present in animals such as dogs, cats, birds, and even farm animals like chickens and pigs. It's also the belief that some clans of vampires have the supernatural ability to transform themselves into animals. The vampire animals act in the same aggressive manner as the common vampire. They will attack and consume the flesh and blood of their victims. These vampire animals are said to have eerie red or yellow glowing eyes with an imposing stare of evil malevolence. Strange odors, blood covered fur and supernatural activities also accompany these unholy creatures of the night.
Vampire animals usually begin by feeding on other smaller animals. They tend to be very timid at first attacking only tiny animals like rodents or small birds. As the vampire's power increases so does their bravery and intensity of attack. The vampire animals will begin to attack medium sized animals such as chicken, pigs, cats and larger dogs gaining more confidence with each successful attack. Eventually, the attacks will cover large animals like goats, horses and cows. When the time is right and the vampire animal feels bold enough it will attack human prey.
Real vampires have the authority over certain animals and can command them to do their bidding. These animals may be summoned to protect the vampire from harm during the daylight hours or assigned an evil tasks such as tormenting or attacking its enemies. The vampire lore says that the vampire animals are easier to destroy than the real vampire. They can be shot, beheaded, stabbed, burned, etc.
The most common vampire animal is the hellhound. Hellhounds are giant vicious dogs that terrorize graveyards where vampires are supposed to sleep. They are extremely loyal creatures and will guard the vampire master with their last breath of life. They are usually in packs of five or more and are intensely savage monsters. They hunt together with a psychic link, supernaturally knowing everything that the other hellhounds and the vampire master know. This leaves vampire hunters with quite a serious problem. The best time to destroy a vampire is during the daytime when the vampire's supernatural powers are the weakest, however, to get to the vampire the hunter must first fight their way through these crushing beasts of hell. Not an easy task.
It is said by skeptics that vampire animals are actually regular animals that have contracted the rabies disease common to wild animals. While others argue just the opposite, saying that some animals suspected of having rabies are actually vampires.
Webpage I found this:
http://www.zerotime.com/night/animal.htm
There was a couple of books that I read that had vampire animals in them which were cool, one was a dog and another book that had vampire cats.
It would only seem logical that if a vampire were to bit an animal and survive they would in turn be vampiric. As to whether they would attack and bite other animals and humans for blood, I believe so considering they have the desire for it. But then again certain animals do that regardless of the possibility of being vampiric.
Im not much on this subject but i do belive if a vampire bites an animal there is a possibility that the animal could come back and be a sort of guadian. lat me kno what u think.
A comparison in reality that comes directly comes to mind would be rabies.
On the flip side of reality , if this were to come too pass , the animal chosen by a vamp would probebly be a protector or servent.
That is a good question, I have often pondered this thought myself. I would have to say yes, the animal would be affected. If the legends holds true and people become vampires after being infected then the same would be true about animals. Animals are susceptible to the same diseases and viruses as we are. That is why scientists do test on them.
I have to agree - if animals get the same diseases as us it should be possible to spread vampirism to them. Hopefully they can't turn others or we could have a problem
I've heard the myth about vampires turning into animals so I'm guessing that would be another reason for that myth! Just a guess though.
This gets into Blade Trinity where the Vampires made their dogs vampire dogs
It sounds possible that the animal would turn into a vampire.
They had an episode about this topic on ForeverKnight. A guild dog was bitten by a vampire. The blind owner couldn't understand why the dog wouldn't eat his food or drink water. Nick, the main character, had to give the dog blood. It was a very interesting concept because how would an animal handle it. They don't understand what's wrong with them.
Well if it’s a book type vampire you seek then I guess anything is possible.
However a vampire living lifestyle person can not pass on ones vampirism to an animal.
The reason is simple…. Only mankind can have this vampire inside as we are outside of natures balanced scales, only we talk and play with our food and think nothing of killing something we raised, animals do it out of a need to eat.
So no animals are not capable of our evil inside
I wonder if a vampire cow once bitten would produce milk? I mean who really knows but the author Krab..
wouldn't that basicly be a werewolf, by biting and animal??? werecat.
Probably not. Since it's unlikely something like that could be passed to something with an entirely different genetic make up than us.
Did anyone here ever watch The Lost Boys? It was a bunch of kids who got turned into vamps and wanted to turn the newcomers of their town (Yeah, I know this plot idea has been rehashed into several dozen movies). On it, there was a pair of "hell hounds" who obeyed their master's orders and I guess you could call them vamp pouches.
The idea of a vamp biting an animal and it turning into a blood drinker? I doubt it. For a vamp to sire a human, most of the legends center on it giving him or her its blood or there being some ritual involved. I think the same would apply to beasts.
Unless you happen to mean something like "Peeps", but they were vamps of a different sort than the legend-based ones.
Interesting question...mythically I think it would be possible but I would certainly hope for it not to because that would just be a little insane.
Don't you think it would be fun though, to have a little vampire chihuahua being even more vicious than normal? =P
i think that animals would turn into vampires as well then turn other living things into a vampire as well
Probably not, since animals do not have "souls". A least not like us.
Could a vamp turn and animal?
Let's say that it is possible, and they do.
Drac comes along and bites Fido, and turns the little puppy into a blood sucking hellhound.
The problem is that the animal may have the lust for blood and may be capable of being immortal, but without a way of teaching the dog the ways of the vampire, the dog will fry into nothingness as soon as the sun rises.
Just one angle to consider...
i had made a topic something like this one a while ago.. i feel that it would be possible.... i feel there are animals who hasnt been bit, they are just born to be vampire animals
Well or those animals to just be 'born' as vampires, they probably should have some vampire family with that kind of DNA. So still, a vampire attack of some sort must have happened some time before in order to form a vampire animal.
Well I'm sure its possible if they wanted to turn an animal but I think vampires just mostly use them as fodder if they can't get a yummy human to snack on.
lol i don't know it's a good question though..
if it was in their inntention to turn an animal to become their 'pet' it would be quite possible.
once again, the vampires are the way we create them so it would be very possible, yes.
I think Chimpanzees could be turned - they are most like humans in their make-up, but not other animals.
I did read a book about vampires that had hounds that guarded them during the day - they shapeshifted to humans during the day to protect their master and were dogs at night. So I think vampire animals - no.
I've never heard of such a thing in any of the books I've read or movies I've seen. Typically, if a vamp bites an animal, it kills it.
Actually, while it's the norm movie wise that it only works human to human, in the 3rd blade movie, they had vampire dogs, I believe there was 1 pom and a couple of rotts. But I think that was to have happened in a manner other than a bite.
Vampire critters are very common in folklore and fiction with varying properties and characteristics.
that would be really cool if there were vampire animals in blade trinty there was dog vampire
i dont think it would happen but if it could id want a vampire dobermen
If I have my facts right for someone to turn into a vampire has to be bitten by one.
If a animal is bitten (not devored for food) then yes I cannot see any reason why they cannot.
And I have seen a movie where a dog turns into a Vampire after its owner bit it. I cannot recall the movie sorry.
not sharp-shooting but if vampire exist then i see no reson that vamp animal cant either so yes i think (D) all of the above. are true
If we're talking make believe ... sure a vampire can turn an animal into a vampire.. In real life I'm not sure how this would work...
If the animal did become a vampire I want a vampire hamster that sounds so cute*lol*
I am not sure. This makes me think that if they could exist, so would werewolves and I just do not believe that is possible.
I'm looking for our bunny Jack to sprout some fangs. lol
I have a cat that requires raw meat ever so often or he will try to bite me and constanly meow....
i think the animal in question has to taste or to be fed the vampires blood to change, one movie vampire dogs were in is Blade Trinity
well animals could but one i no that needs blood is the vampire bat.. is that true ?
I think of it more logically... Vampires supposedly turn humans into one of them... If we would be talking about animals as apposed to humans, then the first thing that popped into my head would be an animal that has vampiric tendencies. Such as a bat, it is possible that animals can have vampiric similarities but I think in order to actually be a "vampire" you need to be human. The virus that turns humans into vampires only affects humans because it matches their DNA and changes some aspects of it. Animals are not exactly similar in DNA to humans. I think if you use the phrase Vampire Animals then it makes no sense because only a human can be a vampire (fictionally speaking of course). But, it is possible for animals to have vampire tendencies...
Are you saying that vampire venom only effects a human's DNA because of the type of DNA people have? Where did you hear this, if I may ask? This is something I've never heard of or thought about.
That could be true then again it could not, I didn't exactly hear it from anywhere. I thought of it on my own.
In fiction there are many different ways in which the vampires venom affects the human body. Like the werewolves, some aspect of their DNA has changed which is why they have characteristics such as extended fangs, hair, sensitivity to light, whatever the change may be. That is how I explain it, but some people may say different.
It might only affect humans but if it involves DNA it is possible for the virus to mutate and make it compatible with animals or other beings...
I always though it's strictly the vampire's venom that's to blame for everything. I never thought one needed a special kind of DNA to turn into a vampire if it was bitten. I believe if people can turn into a vampire after a vampire attack, any living creature would have to turn into one too. Maybe they wouldn't all react the same way, but they'd all be vampires in their own ways.
I've just always thought of vampires specifically to be of human nature or to come from human beings. Sure, other beings could have characteristics and be affected by the vampires venom... but for them to be a full fledged animal vampire seems strange. Maybe it's just because I've never really thought of it completely changing an animal into a vampire animal...
Don't think of a vampire animal as a human vampire. It'd not be like a human or the mythical vampire we all know and love, but the animal would be a vampire in it's own fluffy way. =)
That is a very interesting way to look at it though lol It could be possible, mythically speaking. However rare it may be. My cat tends to have blood thirst some times and often goes for the neck of his prey. >:]
Tell me Freelove, if you're serious about your cat, does it attack bigger prey when it's blood thirsty or smaller ones then he/she usually does?
Usually when he does his walk around my house he'll pick up smaller animals such as a rabbit on occasion, mostly rats or rodents... I think he likes the faster animals because it's more of a challenge to him. Seriously speaking, he does go exactly for the neck because I have seen some be decapitated and left on the porch. But he's not stupid enough to go for a bigger prey... he's not so courageous. He goes for the thrill. :]
Well actually, a lot of animals go for the neck when they hunt. Maybe all animals are the real vampires! >:)
I wouldn't want to see a vampire animal on the streets or in my home. That could be really scary and messy..
i think the animal would "turn." the animals body is similer to ours, thus causing the "turn."
I have never heard of a Vampire animal other than people.
You would think the movies would make this seem true
I believe that animals can not fully become vampires but they do increase in strength and become more viciouse...
i have never heard of this i think it would be neat but not possible due to chromosomes
No, they will not turn. They just stay the same, or die. I know more, but none of that information is dealing with animals. If you have questions message me and ask.
I think if an animal was turned into a vampire creature it would go for human blood
dun think so.. but then again wouldnt wanna come across one in away i think id even be scared rofl
In the TV show, Forever Knight, a blind girl was embraced and she regained her sight as she became a vampire by her seeing eye dog. The dog was bit by a vampire and when it became a vampire, it turned its owner and the dog actually had vampiric strength and such.
Whatever the author wishes to do, the animal will become.
alot of different things that could be true. but i would think that the human vamparisim would not be passed on to an animal un less the vamparisim strain was mutated. but you never know
