In the last 8 years I have noticed a lot Street Light bulbs automatically switching off (breaking ?) when I near them.

Sometimes they work again the next day, vaguely 30% of the time it needs to be replaced.

What is up with this ????

Could be that you are causing them to prematurally "break" as it were

well many street lights actually shut off when someone nears them or they blink, and i think this is a law inforcement purpose, so that when a criminal at night is close to the light it shuts off or blinks, i dont know if this is true but i have been told this before

I can't be sure, but similar events happen to my dad and brother. They seem to have a loss of lightbulbs more than other people I know (as in flashlights, overhead lights etc.). They also have problems with their cell phone battery draining fast, and dopping more calls then my mom or I. I think that these occurances can co-exist in people called Indigo Children/Adults. My dad, brother and even myself have shown signs of being Indigo Children/Adults...so perhaps you should look into that?

Most street lights have a cycle that they go through, they reset a few times a night when they get too hot. Helps the bulb last longer.

Everyone that has posted here, their answers, make alot of sense. I have a light across the street from me, and I walk back and forth, under it, just because it won't be lit, and when I walk under it the light comes on. Then after a second or two the light goes off. I do it to annoy a neighbor late at night. (long story). Then again it could be your energy doing it. Anything is possible.

It's true the bulbs cycle off for a cool down period but most governments also have them on periodic cut offs in a series to conserve on energy costs. That's why they seem to move with you as you travel. It's happened to me many times and I've noticed it's at certain times of the day or night in different areas, where it happens.

That's an excellent article MrD thanks

DrowVampire I'm guessing that its not the same lamp all the time. If it was I would think there's something wrong with the cables and when your weight goes near them underground you break a connection.

Of course if you keep walking past the same lamps at the same time each day, it could be on a time switch.

If it is something supernatural : You say that some 30% of the time the bulb needs replacing after its gone out. To me this would make me wonder if you're not taking energy but giving it out - if you drain energy from a bulb it will dim or go out but come back on afterwards - if you nuke it with an overload it will go out and not come back on.

The same thing happens to me...but with only two particular street lamps...and I could walk near them any time of night and within me getting within 6 feet of them they switch off. The other street lights remain totally unaffected. I thought it was my imagination at first...but this is a daily occurrence.

This is a very interesting thread. I have read somewhere, cannot remember to save my skin, that those who are vampires, both psy and sang, DO NOT mix well with electricity. I am not doubting what others have said about the lights being on a timer or have a cool down cycle, but it is what I read and it interested me and caught my attention because it happens to me a well. For that being a 100% explanation, not hardly, but it might help you in finding the answers in which you seek.

Oh, well, that explains it. The lamps are turning on and off as the Leafs and Candiens score goals...

LIGHT THE LAMP!

Ok, kidding.

I think I'd go with the power-down cycles theory. Cities do run lamps on timers to turn them off and turn them on in an effort to save on costs. They might also have the occassional faulty electric eye or photosensor.

Probably lots of reasons. Unless you walk down the road and the lights all turn off, consistently, as you approach, each and every one.. I would highly doubt it's you causing it.

the answer is relatively simple, it lies in the part of the requirements for the 6th degree in the golden dawn.....a part of the test is the creation through your own art of a light source which does not require fuel...the result, is usually a mercury vapor lamp that runs off of the "subtle energies of the body" (the em field produced by the human body), since streetlamps are also mercury vapor lamps (typically) it only stands to reason that an adept passing by would cause a flare of light, and a psychic vampire passing by, would cause it to darken

Wow...In my house we joke about taking up stock in GE! I blow at least 4 bulbs a week. Sometimes those hallogen bulbs at work, sometimes street lights! I mostly notice it at home though! I have blown up to 5 within an hour! I have always wondered about this! Always had this problem! My husband is a super redneck & doesn't believe in stuff like this, but even he knows it's me & picks on me about it! I guess it becomes obvious with how often I do it! It drives me nuts! I'm glad it was brought up!

But, according to his explaination, they're not blowing, they just turn off. And the next day they work fine.

Unless these places have municipal workers that do nothing but inspect streetlights everyday... that's even more doubful than his energies are causing the lights to turn off.

And as I said, I can see making a correlation if this happened every time he passed a light, but it doesn't as far as we can tell... so...

Keep in mind that street lights have a day/night sensor. If you're in a car and drive by a light and it goes off, your headlights most likely triggered the sensor making the light think it was daytime, so it shuts off...

When I was a newbie (perhaps a premium mosquito) - I posted about the very same thing. I was extremely concerned about it; what was going on, what was WRONG with me. At the time I received a lot of nay-saying and a few people who wrote posts just like Cancer's where they just dismissed the idea thinking I was describing something that happens when I am in a car.

I have said, time and time again. No, this usually happens when I am walking.

Very upset that I was not taken seriously about the ordeal, I sarcastically commented that "Oh gee, perhaps its the light that shines out of my A** that turns out the luminescent streetlights!"

The thread was subsequently RIA'd and lost forever.

So, here we are, ready to revisit the topic again, eh? I am a Shaitan now, and so perhaps I can be trusted to help dig for answers without doing or posting anything stupid.

To revisit the symptoms: I cannot wear a watch as the batteries do not last long, Time/Temperature bank clocks break when I frequent the area, and I have noticed since the age of 13 that parking lights, street lights, flood lights on the side of buildings that are weak - fail when I walk near them. It's not like I can think "Go out" and anything happens, this just happens at RANDOM, whatever my mood, seemingly without my control.

I am still searching for answers... and I am still tolerating my best friends and my boyfriend commenting, "WILL YOU QUIT THAT!" whenever we walk together in public and YET ANOTHER light goes out.

My next move is to study Reiki, and see where that leads me....

Interesting, the lights have light sensors on them. I'm on the other side of the fence on this one. Be walking by in mid day and it come on. No others was doing it. It just might be several things.
Dust in the switch contacts, insect touch something inside the wire connections. Hmmm make you wonder....

How interesting, just how many people have had the same problems with the street lights. maybe you should try to keep a record of it...how often it happens and your general mood. You might end up finding a pattern. I used to blow out the whole street when I was a teenager. You might even want to try to do it conciously....I've never been able to wear a watch either.

i just have to respond

the bulb thing is something that happens to a few people i know, mostly people with very high energy feilds around them, the bulbs some how access the energy feilds of the person and then short circuit as the energy is too much for the bulb,

a person i know cannot do anything on a pc and never online as all pcs hang a minute after he begins to work with them, and get back to normal when another person sits immedeately after

my experiences with bulbs and electricity are of power cuts , and electricity shutting down in just the area where i am , especially during heavy energy rituals involving very high energy equations, the regular pc hanging and cell phone and all other electronic device going kablooi is ofcourse the norm with individuals that have high energy fields

i havent quite gotten to the core truth of the matter and suspect that it isnt just the persons energy field but how it is run through ethereal beings in the area of the light bulbs electronic devices etc

most interesting thread for me atleast as it is a question whose exact solution i havent reached at yet

you may even notice sometimes weather changing slightly with your moods, particularly breezes , especially around trees that you pass often, almost like the breeze has a sentient quality to it, like it is a conscious force

See? That's what I'm talking about!
When I moved from Philly to Pitts, and new friends started to comment on it, my b/f explains, "Oh, that always happens to her." and I add, "Yes, I have a magnetic personality." and leave it at that.

*sigh* What else can ya do?

It might be because of your pranic energy. If you were agitated, or even if you have never learned how to adequately channel your own prana, that may have caused this to happen. Basically, your mood, your aura, could have been malevolent, agitated, angered, so much to the extent that the light bulbs just blew the fuse for you! `^^`

All of us have different gifts. Some of us have realized them, some haven't, and some of us don't even get them. You might give off a bigger electrical charge then most normals. This would obviously explain it. See if you can learn to tap into it.

Yes its true could be coincidental, but in magic and life there are no coincedences.
Things and events happen for a reason even though we may not know why. Most vamps are great energy manipulators.Whether it being drawing energy or sending it out.Depends on there level of control and if they know how.Whether u be a sang or psi all can feel and manipulate energies to some degree. There are many articles on this just have to look for them.

Great article MrD, but I'd still chalk it up to coincedence. *looks at Birra* or maybe when the Bears score.

The only Light bulbs that burst around me are ones in my room. I do alot of energy trainning and meditation. It's something I go through alot. Good thing Light Bulbs don't cost alot. The more expensive the bulbs are, the less likely they'll go out around me. So that's helpful for me.

I read this post a while back and realized when I would walk by as well the light would shut off. I usually drive now and never go on walks anymore. Yesterday I was walking to my car and I walk by a street light and it shuts off. No lightning, Nothing to cause it. Could of gotten hot and reset, could be a coincidence. Or could it.

I have found that it happens most frequently when I am contemplative. If my mood changes... it seams to stop.

I have also noticed that there is a consistancy with which lights go off and which do not. I have also noticed that the same streetlight that consistantly goes out when I walk underneath it does not go out when others walk under it as well.

My rational mind after the first few times experiencing this (some 10 years or so ago) assumed the Loitering theory... Lights in certain areas go off to limit loitering in specific areas (ie near entrances of buildings) and yet the others do not go off because they need to stay well lit (ie parking lots.)

However not everyone walking in the same path... or driving, or cycling... in fact most people in general... do not cause lights to go off.

Saterday a week and a half ago I walked 3 miles without walking under a lit lamp... and then I noticed one that didn't go out... it purtubed me and broke my mood. then gradually more and more lights started to stay on... until I noticed that none were going off any more... even ones that normally go off when I pass under them as I got within the last 2 miles of my house.

In other words I don't have a f'n clue.

I don't think that I would make too much out of this unless it becomes a problem. In this case it could either be a form of telepathy or some kind of static electricity phenomenon involving you. Just a couple of out-there possibilities.

In addition, some people tend to have a higher electrical output. For example, I can't wear watches without them breaking within the hour. light bulbs burn out on me all the time. You might just affect the electrical part.

so vampires and electricity dont mix well? must be a hell of a lot of people on this site using clockwork computers. it is very common - used to happen to me all the time, and quite often the lamp would flick back on again as soon as i was a good distance away. a friend of mine was also "afflicted " with it. i also have problems with watches - particularly the old clockwork type (so maybe it is personal magentism). dont know what the explanation is - maybe it is just coincidence. i notice lots of coincidences in my life, maybe i attract coincidences. its just one of those oddities.

About clockwork computers. Yes, I use a computer that runs off of electricity but I have more problems with it. I have two computers in the house. The desktop has has 3 hard drive crashes. The printer often times will not work with the computer until everything has been rebooted about 3 times. The laptop just turns off for no reason at all. Files on both get lost or corrupted.

That Happens to me too. As well as the lights many other electrical items malfunction when I'm near them. One of the most common occurrences is automatic doors. There has been many time when I have to wait until someone goes through and I sneak in behind them becuase the doors just won't open for me.
At home the hot water system doesn't work in the shower when I'm in there and lights flicker. I always blamed it on a poltergeist but now I'm not so sure. But this house or at least the shed outside is haunted.

I know for a fact that it's not a malfunction... just something that some of the lights on the circuit do from time to time. They are not broken (unless you see sparks and a short light show). Relax.

Theres a great deal of arguement about this one. Some people say it's supernatural, and others say it some kind of energy feild...or a faulty light. Either way, this one has been discussed previously in another thread a while back.

A street light dims (sometimes, not EVERY time) when you walk under it, so it must be *you*.

Do your living room lights dim?

What about when you're in a restaurant?

The questions to ask are, why are only street lights affected?

Why aren't *all* street lights affected?

This topic would be taken more seriously if those two questions could be convincingly answered.

i was just about to pose the same question Cancer. it occured to me right after a lightbulb in the bedroom went out, and it was right then that i wondered, could this be because i am special? or that i sucked the energy out of the bulb just by my mere presence?

i concluded that it was just the lightbulb's time.

Streetlights have on off sensors that are effected by light electrical impulses and vibrations and even sound waves. Thunder or lightning can cause them to flicker and even a human beings electrical forcefield can influence the sensors on occasion.
This is my hypothesis.

Most of the lights are in series... when one goes on or off they all go off (in regard to photosencitivity). I watch the light across the street when I am reading on my couch. It seams to stay on; and still when I go out the front door it tends to go off, or flicker.

I've heard a couple of people relate this to vampires... I don't think anyone here is postulating that it is a vampire specific phenomenon.

your a smart man cancer first post ive read from you and right on the money.
a not em is akin to gravity. but the answer to the why not all lights and why street lights I think might be due to them being out side and the air being humid. em travels better through water than air. also maby if I may sujest that as there are so many lights on the street and so few who put them up there sheilding is not all the same there for making it possible for the em to get through.
just and idea. I would not take this as a proof of power either I must agree. but still there are possible explanations.

Go back and read Billy the Just's post. It's not a timer or a daylight sensor...it's the type of bulb. They heat up more than a regular bulb and in order to keep from burning out, they shut off when they get too hot and turn back on when they've cooled.

I'm pretty sure Mr. D's article will mention this as well.

If the lights going off was solely due to overheating, then why would it be on my 2 mile walk last night I only saw 9 lights go out; and why out of those did 8 of them go out when I was within 10 feet of the pole? Seams that the law of averages is against that hypothesis in my experience. There was one light that was going off and on fairly regularily... it seamed to go out every time a car passed.

I am beginning to wonder if it is sound related... clicking shoes perhaps.

I did note that all of the lights went off for nearly exactly the same length of time... So there must be some sort of timed reset.

i think it's only normal that this happens sometimes
but you say it happens alot well then you probably send out rays that confuse the elctricity flowing inside teh lights...

this way you kinda interrupt the process of turning energy into light and the light just stopt shining

don't worry too much about it you're not an abnormality or something you just have alot of outgoing rays ( that's your aura that regultates it) probably cause you have too much energy

greetings Lost darkangel

Kglitterous - If we're really going to look at the law of averages, then we need to examine a more complete sampling. How many streetlights have you walked past in say the last year? A thousand? If you walk 2 miles each time you probably pass 15 lights and say you go 3 times a week, then you likely pass by 45 or more a week depending on how well lit your streets are. That's 2340 a year. So of that number would you say you've 'put out' 10% even? 234 lights? How about 50%...that's almost 1700 lights going out.
