I blame that Barry Manilow! As soon as that concorde-nosed songster brought out that song I swear more ships have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle!
Maybe he made these extraterrestrial beings angry...;-P lol
haveing done many years of research on the triangle ill stick to the paranormal explanations, the government isnt that slick lol,and we all know that Barry works for the CIA, LOL
uh huh, OK back on topic
I think the gas pocket theory is the best. Trapped gas, usually methane, is under the earths crust - thats a fact, people drill for it - if this gas is released as a big bubble, the effect would be to suddenly drag whatever is on the surface straight down to the bottom.
Once you get rid of the ships that have disappeared, the missing aircraft and so on are no greater there than over any ocean
Just my humble opinion (in case I just upset any aliens)
you all are so funny. i believe that it is a powerful vortex. and the goverment know.
*sticks out her tongue to taunt the Barry Manilow alien*...I believe in the Bermuda Triangle and I know the government is no where near intelligent enough to be pulling off a farce of that magnitude...
well, we've all heard of alien abductions in the last century, and how they allegedly experiment on us (not necessarily rectal-probing and the like, ugh...=P).
Well, if the alien theory was true, and alien beings were using the Bermuda Triangle area to suck up planes as to acquire specimens (as well as some of our technology to check out...), I think the aliens are damned smart and I commend them.
That is, I would commend them for clearly playing on the humans' fear of the unexplainable in an isolated geographic area. Plus, they don't have to "explain" so to speak where their abductees went...cos no-one comes back to tell the tale...
I heard once about some link between the lost city of Atlantis and the Bermuda Triangle...has anyone ever heard anything like that before? =S I suspect the person was a crackpot, but nevertheless....LOL
Oh, and I agree with Wildsorkid - the government probably does know.
After all, remember how they denied Area 51, then in...1994 ( i think), they admitted its existence.
Governements tend to know a lot more than they really let on...
From someone who grew up in Fla. alot of strange dissaperances have taken place. Like the 9 plaines in that dissapered in the 40's . And no sign of them when explorers investigated . although they did find some .. I think there is a strange vortex out there. I dont think the government is that smart to pull off such a coo. As for Barry Manalow... Baaahh
I'm in agreement with Artemka on this it's some type of natural distrubance causing the ships to go down. Most of the planes lost were at a time when avation was still an unsure science. Their loss could have been cause by weather, mechanical failure or any number of minor incidences just by chance.
The alien ideal is cute but I always figured they had more sense than to get involved in the way we silly humans carry on.
Hang on, when we're talking about this "vortex", do we mean like a trans-dimensional kind of idea? Like a rift between real- and warp- space?
Or are we talking like a vortex that sucks things in, say to another plane of being or into some other life-forms spacecraft?
I guess what I'm asking is, can we please clarify our theories on a vortex in the Bermuda Triangle? Where's it coming from? Where's it going? Who's responsible? Why it's there?
But i think we're almost all agreed on one thing - the government may or may not know, but they're probably not the ones causing the phenomenon in the accursed Triangle.
Ok I haven't looked up on it that much, but I have seen a few shows on it. Isn't the reason that things 'disappear' in the triangle because of the weather. I mean it makes sense, the water is warm and when cold air sweeps over it, it creates a fast change in the weather which is why so many 'disappear' in the triangle because the storms just come and leave so fast they have no time to do anything or get out. That’s just my take on it. But I will not deny, it is strange. Anything’s possible.
Downdraughts, would bring down an aeroplane. That along with the confusing magnetic readings, an abnormal weather conditoins caused by the gulf stream, and people using their cellphones and computers inflight might do it.
thanks for the comments pips!I really enjoy reading each and every one of them!
do you think my threads are interesting?anyhow,I learn a lot from you!
:-)
luv ya all
If I recall correctly, there are also other areas with mass disappearances that cannot be easily explained. I seem to remember reading about some not too far from Iceland. I believe it to be natural phenomena, not government or alien activity. I believe there would be other tell-tall signs.
Bermuda Triangle

NASA image of the western Atlantic, showing the popular borders of the Bermuda Triangle. The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a geographical area in the Atlantic Ocean which has been made infamous for the many people, aircraft, and surface vessels said to have disappeared within its bounds. Many of these disappearances involve a level of mystery which are often popularly explained by a variety of theories beyond human error or acts of nature, often involving the paranormal, a suspension of the laws of physics, or activity by extraterrestrial beings. An abundance of documentation for most incidents suggests that the Bermuda Triangle is a mere legend built upon half-truths and tall tales from individuals who sailed the area, then later embellished on by professional writers.
See Wikipedia for lots more info.
Personally...I think with lots of traffic, lots of accidents will happen, and with sudden storms and so forth, I think it is a natural phenom.
I beleive it has to do with some kind of magnetic energy feild that charges up under certain circumstances...............Like ion storms(anything electrical with go crazy e.t.c)
Magnetic feilds can be made under certain currents matter( they charge up and produce static electricity and if powerfull enough magnetic energy) Just like tornadoes are made from cold and hot air.........
I have read alot on the subject and i think that it has something to do with atlantis myself.
I believe that it is just a natural phenomenom and that the government knows about it... But there whole idea is to try to cover it up somehow.
It is strange how many ships and planes have been lost there, but Im not sure ther have been ships that have gone through there fine havent they? I dont believe it would be a conspiracy but it could be some sort of phenomenom that occurs in that region. Still unknown I guess
IF SOME ARE YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE LOST CIY OF ATLANTIS, THEN I'M SURE YOU KNOW THAT BERMUDA TRIANGLE AND THAT CITY IS RELATED TO EACH OTHER...
THE CITY OF ATLANTIS WAS ONCE A PROSPEROUS CITY LIKE ANCIENT EGYPT AND MESOPOTAMIA. BUT IT SUFFERED TREMENDOUS NATURAL CALAMITIES LIKE EARTHQUAKES, VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS, TORNADOS AND THE LIKE WHICH ARE ENOUGH TO SINK A GREAT ISLAND...
THE VERY LOCATION OF THE FORMER CITY IS NOW THE BRMUDA TRIANGLE... WHY SHIPS ARE MISSINGS? I THINK BECAUSE THE PULL OF GRAVITY IS STRONGER THERE SINCE THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE ISLAND BENEATH...
MY DAD IS A CHIEFMATE (SEAMAN) AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE SHIPS HONK THREE TIMES WHEN THEY PASS THIS PLACE...
ANYWAY A GOOD MOVIE RELATED TO THIS IS the abbyss...
i believe that the Bermuda Triangle is a time portal to different times either in the future or past. Those arent coincidences because there is just too many. Many people have said to see the old ships that should have been lost for many years. I would like to visit this Bermuda Triangle even if i dont come back to prove my point. I find it would be a great voyage.
There are so many theories and thoughts on this. My favorites are the time dimension, alternate dimension, aliens, and just black hole on earth theories.
Thats actually a really interesting thought...hmm...*thinks*
I still say its the weather, but to each as there own.
I say it is a Paranormal thing and I dont think it will ever be solved
There have been a lot of theories on the mysteries of the Bermuda triangle and to some degree paranormal does seem to be the most sound but there is also a lot of things on this planet we have not discovered yet and I think that the Bermuda triangle is over a huge magnetic plate in the earth. There have been more problems caused by the use of magnetic energy and that would explain the crazy readings that pilots get on their instruments when they fly to close to the triangle.
I agree that the government isn't involved with the Bermuda triangle.. they just aren't that clever...
I believe in the vortex or time rip theory... thinking along the lines of the Philadelphia experiment.
I do know that there are another 2 devil's triangles I am not sure where the third one is, I believe its near the African coast the other is here in Australia in the bass strait... and on a global 3D image they form a triangle... Just to add to the topic :)
Barry Manilow as an alien spy!! That's funny!
Anyways, I think that there is some type supernatural thing happening out there.
There is a lot of hearsay, and hidden information on this topic, and a lot fo differrent opinions. I personally think there is definately a problem with nvigation, and like to think it is some sort of glitch in the energ sequences on Earth, but I can't obviously say for sure. There are tales of boats coming out completely on fire, but is this anything more than storytelling? A bit of information and opinions for anyone who is interested;
Legend has it that there is a triangular area in the Atlantic Ocean, defined at its points by Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and Miami, into which countless people and more than 70 sea and air crafts have disappeared without a trace during the last half century. Dozens of theories have been offered to explain the so-called mysterious disappearances, some pure science fiction, others more scientific, and some focused on human error and bad luck.
Interestingly, neither the Coast Guard nor reputable scientists are persuaded by supernatural explanations for events in the area, nor do they even acknowledge that the number of disasters is unusual given the area's heavy traffic and its size and location (Rosenberg, 1974). Thus, at least officially, there are no inexplicable disappearances, no Bermuda Triangle, and no mystery to solve. As it turns out, the "mystery" of the Bermuda Triangle, which got its start as the lead story in a fiction magazine, has been popularized in articles, best-sellers, and television documentaries."
(Carroll, 2002 cited in "Teacher Educations Bermuda Triangle- Dichotomy Maythology and Amnesia, Marilyn Cochran Smith, 2003.)
pips!thanks for commenting!it makes me so happy!luv ya all!
I think it has something to do with the magnetics of the earths pularity. I think thats where they all meet, so there for thats were some weird things that are unexplainable happen.
Its all science .. and i really don't understand science so lets just say it is freaky and leave it at that .. kk..
Wait, LadyWinterRogue! What did you say about the Philadelphia "experiment"? I have never heard of it...what is that? Could you tell me?
For some strange reason, the way you said that piqued my interest...does it have something to do with rifts in space, etc...? What is its relevance to the Bermuda Triangle mystery?
Also, since you made a point of other triangles, can u point me in the direction of reference material so i can research this subject...i am particularly interested in the Australian one
I have heard some stories had to be true because of the tracking systems in alot of the dissapearences that after entering the tracking device, just turned off. but It could all be coincedences.
wait,I have a mission for you...
Find out if anybody has ever survived this trip to Bermuda Triangle, cuz if I'm not wrong, there are nut cakes who go there in order to be adventorous..
That would be interesting to research...
I'm curious, does anyone know if anyone has really ventured in there in recent years? have there still been planes disappearing over the Triangle (or do ppl now avoid journeying thru the place superstitiously??)? i did notice that the highest frequency of disappearances occured in the earlier half of this century...
It would be worth a look into
There was a special on this and a man from was flying is plane to Miami a trip that would take 3 -4 hours. He somehow flew in tis vortex what he called a worm hole and when he flew out of it he saw Miami and it all happened in 30 min. I really believe there is something going on out there.
I believe it is paranormal explanations, the government and if it was investigated more you find your answer.
It can't be a true black hole or vortex, because of the massive crushing gravity black holes have. If that was really the case, the world would essentially collapse in on itself, and i dare say with a hole the size of the Triangle, one could find the world suddenly zipping outta existence very quickly...
no i think there's definately another explanation...maybe an interdimensional tear in space (that links the physical realm with the spiritual/metaphyiscal realm, a la the Philadelphia Experiment or the film "Event Horizon")
My guess of the Bermuda Triangle is based on the facts. Only on the real proof of it all.

With the information given, I really like how they call it "Devil's Triangle" That really gets my attention.
All information is was given was from Dictionary.com
well i know lots of research has been done by many people on the triangle..... and although they still really dont know what causes it.... i would lean more towards a vortex theroy kinda like the oregon vortex..... it would explain some of the supernatural experiences people have........many pople have disapeared in that are ships planes and so on never to be seen again..... some said vortex as in warped to anouther plane of existiance.... i dont know if i would go so far as to say that..... but then again one really never knows..... there are so many unexplained events that take place with out any real explenations.........who knows those ships and planes could be at the bottom of the ocean pulled down by some magnetic force .... or they could of very well just vanishd in to thin air.......nice post by the way.......
I have to agree with artemka on the frozen methane gas explination.. see several programs on the History channel and National Geographic channels going into detail along those lines.. their explinations make logical sense. Plus the era in which the Mysterious sightings reported have to be considered also.
I kinda agree with Sucubus.
I do think it may be a portal to another world or dimension. And I have also pondered with the thought that it may be a portal to the future. I don't know too much about it but what I been told in stories I've read. They always said things like it may be an abyss to no where, the future, another galaxy, or some kind of trap demised by the aliens. I can also say that I think the govt, knows what it is and probably use it on unsuspecting indiviuals. But they'll never tell us. And I being outrageous, I dunno but I just thought i could add my thoughts lol.
im going with governmetal scam on this one.
big brother will get cha!
ok vampiressnatialia you said....
I can also say that I think the govt, knows what it is and probably use it on unsuspecting indiviuals. But they'll never tell us.
so you think the goverment experiments on people..... ok i could by that .... but then what happens to those people they just vanish into thin air or do they go into like what do you call it the witness protection program with new identities......
lmao
lol I dunno. I think they may be getting sent into the future and have ways of sending back the info and ppl they observe. But I'm a kook, I think anything is possible.
I believe these causes are purely scientific. I cannot possibly explain this, for I have not studied this nor am I a scientist, but I have came accross information that claims to prove this.
well the reason for the lost ships and aircrafts could be both paranormal or scientific...
it could be that the pull of gravity is stronger in that place, or there could be spirits lurking around the place..
well first of all, kindly not blame barry manilow because i know that he has nothing to do with whatever accusations you guys are throwing at him..
there must be some reason, valid or mysterious reasons why some aircrafts and ships dissappear in that area.
there are sudies that say that there are magnets that pulls down the metals that passes by. the source of the magnet below the sea level, that i do not know of.
so do you mean you have to pass the bermuda triangle by using a rubber boat so the magnetic field will not pull you under?
lol @ the rubber boat.......
i do think it is strange though how so many people know about the mysteries with the triangle and yet still fly over it or sail through it..........i mean to take a chance of getting sucked into were ever it is you get sucked into and to vanish without a trace..... you think common sence would just keep you out of the area all together...... i know i wouldnt go near it for all the money in the world......lol not even on a rubber boat......
I think that it is one of the greatest unsolved mystries and we may never truly know what is going on out there
I think it could be a combo of all.........even barry manilow LOL
But who can be sure, I was born on the island of puerto rico and I must say.......... I have seen things off the northern coast, and still can not be sure of what is out there....... lots of ocean to get lost in.
I have done a little research into this subject and based on my findings I would have to disagree with all of the above. Based on the data collected by researchers it is believed that this phenomenon is caused by magnetic interferrence that is occuring naturally in that particular area.
i totally agree with NC Bandit. there must be more scientifical proof or study on why things dissapear in that area.

I always thought it had something to do with the gravitational pull and the vortex. Im no scientist though. It could very well be paranormal...... or it could be simply science...... some say that if you go straight down in the triangle, you can hear the cries from hell through the ocean bottom... thats an eerie thought... there are so many different theories.....
I like to believe it is unexplainable! I love the mystery of it. I have some friends that believe that pirates are responsible.
id have to say paranormal, and also i hope that they never truly investigate it as some things shouldnt be studied or it loses the charm it has
Well said Demiana...
I have to say it is interesting, even if it's just hipe that made it that way. But I'm a coward so I think I'd be the person flying around it...lol...even if it's harmless.
I think it has to do with magnetic poles and that is why everything has problems when they enter that area
artemka- I can definitely see the gas pocket theory working for ships and the like, but how would that work with aircrafts? If it is under the earths crust, and therefore under the water, how could it reach thousands of feet into the air to bring a plane down?
everything that i have read tends to lean towards magnetic storms.
yes i believe that aswell something to do with magnetic poles, very intresting.........
I don't know about what causes the bermuda triangle to act the way it does. But I know that when we flew through it, all of the electronics went screwy and the plane plummeted towards the ocean for a very scary couple of minutes before we got out of the bermuda triangle and it righted itself.
it is certainly a great mystery, but there has to be some conspiracy involved somewhere. how else could that record have reached number one in the charts? i mean, do you know anyone who bought it? it's a terrible song, it should never even have got in the charts.
Hello,
I believe that it is supernatural and quite a freak of nature... I have heard many tales about it and actually found some of them to be quite interesting...
The offical record is a certain engine has done all this. Although it is possible I find it highly doughtful. It could be natural or superatural in my opinion. I do believe the Government is either hideing the knowledge from us or is pretending to know so it doesn't look completly stupid. Still my vote is on supernatural or extaterestrail(sorry if i spelt it wrong)
I saw on National Geographic Channel that the ships could sink from methane gas explosions under the ocean that cause bubbles that sink ships
Amelia Earhart
One of who supposedly had been lost in the Bermuda Triangle.
Her fate remains one of aviation's greatest unsolved mysteries. Organizations and researchers have spent millions of dollars investigating the case and several books have been published that examine the differing theories.
While no theory holds what many of the Earhart researchers call a smoking gun, each theory has staunch defenders who claim mountains of evidence that support theirs as correct.
What is known is that Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, were flying Earhart's Lockheed Electra on a 2,556-mile (4,113-kilometer) route from Lae, New Guinea, to Howland on the third-to-last leg of an around-the-world equatorial flight. From there they were scheduled to go on to Hawaii and then California.
A U.S. Coast Guard crew aboard the cutter Itasca was at Howland to assist Earhart in this pre-radar era by providing radio bearings and a smoke plume, but owing to radio problems—either technical or operator-specific—communication was sporadic and broken.
According to Itasca's radio logs, Earhart indicated she must be near the island but couldn't see it and was running low on gas. The Electra never made it to the island.
An ensuing search effort that at its height involved more than 3,000 people, ten ships, and at least 65 planes turned up empty-handed. The official U.S. position is that Earhart and Noonan ran out of fuel and crashed in the Pacific Ocean.
Another theory says the pair died as castaways on Nikumaroro, an uninhabited South Pacific Island. Yet another theory claims they were captured while on a secret mission to the Japanese-controlled Marshall Islands in the North Pacific.
Pacific Ocean Crash?
Nauticos, a Hanover, Maryland, company that performs deep-ocean searches and other ocean research services, is leading an effort to locate Earhart's plane where they believe it crashed: in the Pacific Ocean in the vicinity of Howland.
In March and April of 2002, the company used a high-tech, deep-sea sonar system to search 630 square miles (1,630 square kilometers) of the ocean floor near Howland. They didn't find the plane, but plan to return in 2004 to continue searching.
i once read a comparison that had to do with the disappeances in the dermuda triangle where the author of the article compared that area to the connecticut turnpike- when there is an area of tons of traffic (which holds true for the highway as well that part of the ocean), that there is bound to be accidents. The number of reported missing ships is such a tiny percentage. Plus there are disappeance everywhere in the ocean of planes and boats, that I cannot single say that in the bermuda triangle it is from a supernatural cause.
I love reading ideas about what might or could go on there, but i am not sure i am sold on the area being unique to tragedies.
It has to do with a pyramid... here and check out this ray brown's crystal thing.
The BERMUDA TRIANGLE is real. I've been in and out of it 13 times while I was on a ship in the NAVY. We chased a "ghost light", but, finally thought better of it.
I have to agree with those of you who've mentioned methane gas, freak weather patterns etc. But I feel it's more of a combination of those factors, not just one specific cause. But I don't believe anything supernatural is going on there.
(Barry Manilow IS evil!)
One can only theorize on what it could be. As far as my oppinion goes, I think it could be a supernatural thing. There are many things in this Earth people will never understand.
we are not talking about a small lake here - we are talking about a large stretch of ocean that is used a lot, and has very unpredictable weather conditions - of course there are going to be a lot of disapearences. even experienced pilots and captains can have accidents, and a huge number of people that jump into a boat, or hop into a light aircraft are, well - idiots. there is only one case that stands out as being a little out of the ordinary and everyone has been quoting that case for decades. change the record! the only indication that there might be something out of the ordinary is the possibility of some sort of magnetic anomaly - and that is not beyond what we know of physics. there is no need to bring aliens, ghosts, witches, or pixies into the equation.
First off, I must appologize for my previous post about cellphones... It was obviously a joke about electrical devices messing with airplane instramentation, however it doesn't come accross that way on rereading it... hmmm
I have sailed through the triangle... didn't seam weird to me. Cold though... I wasn't expecting it to be so cold. But that is probably a matter of perspective, after two years of living on a small carribean island.
I don't think there is anything to weired about it but if anyone has anything interesting about it just message me...
It is my feeling it could be some sort of an magnetic disturbance , that caused some of the older technlogies of the time, to malfunction , thus loosing their way , coming to an enevidable end.
We certinly do not hear of such happinings as much anymore....what with our advanced systems of navagation. What escapes me , is that with all our modern technology these "lost" ships and planes cannot be found. I vaugly remember a documentry done on this years ago, proving what really happened. Anyone out there remember this?
ummm.... I think you were right about the magnetic disturbanse because that would through off compases but I don't know about the other part...
I listened to a speaker once who had this to say about the Bermuda Triangle...
"If you take the same triangle, and place it over any other part of the map, with a coastline that is of reasonably equal distance then you will find a very similar number of dissapearances. And probably its fair share of strange stories as well."
I've never "fact checked" him to see if he was correct, but I was always curious as to if this was the truth.
I honestly think its all B.S. but I don't believe anything I dont see, and its only my opinion.
Well it is quite common knowledge that within that triangular area there are many undersea artifacts that cannot be explained as to origin. It would be fair to say that IF Atlantis was in the area of the Bermuda triangle, and these undersea roads and pyramids were at one time above ground then it is wuite possible that something down there is highly magnetic in nature and if it is possible, probably still active since the Atlanteans, The "Men of old, men of reknown" spoken about in the book of Genesis, had a form of power, possibly a nuclear type but not nuclear in nature as to leave hig concentrations of Rads behind, and it is this or these reason as to why things go haywire in the region. Yea I know grabbing for straws....but isn't it interesting how things we take for granted as being impossible sometimes turn out to be actively real.
For instance a fish from the Red Sea thought to have been extince for thousands of years is discovered in a fish market and the scientific worl goes nuts.
And that that same fish is depicted in Sumerian art as being used as a headpiece. Now if the Sumerian culture had used such a fish as a part of their "Rituals" for what ever reason then the fish wa still active 10,000 years ago.
Anyway you must first believe that you did not crawl out of the sea if you are to believe anything at all that dares belief.
I believe the same as falaenopsis and maybe a few others. Its a magnetic field.(or maybe even a gas.I think both are a possibility. As soon as something goes wrong everyone blames it on the goverment and Barry ...Go figure!
There is a vortex there used by extraterestrials to travel from their worlds to ours, ships that use this method are usally aerodynamic to operate within an atmosphere.
i see my island of Puerto Rico!!!!.... i believe there is something mysterious there!!!!!
Countless theories attempting to explain the many disappearances have been offered throughout the history of the area. The most practical seem to be environmental and those citing human error. The majority of disappearances can be attributed to the area's unique environmental features. First, the "Devil's Triangle" is one of the two places on earth that a magnetic compass does point towards true north. Normally it points toward magnetic north. The difference between the two is known as compass variation. The amount of variation changes by as much as 20 degrees as one circumnavigates the earth. If this compass variation or error is not compensated for, a navigator could find himself far off course and in deep trouble.
well....i dont think it can be barry manilow as this has been happening along time ( unless he is the oldest man on earth ;) ) and i doubt its the government because this pre-dates america...magnetics? maybe...wierd? definately. a pulsating hole in reality? maybe..(as a rift would not be in a steady state.)
I believe that it is just a natural phenomenom though I really did get a kick out of all the theories listed on here! I think it is one of the great mysteries and unknowns out there that we may never truly know all the answers on...
its a scam. the governmet uses it as an excuse to tax the shit out of us, so they "can replace lost flight craft, persons, and ships". while they realy use the money to buy illegal drugs. and put the "lost items" somewhere for a little bit. and wait till we all forget there lost, and there they are.
i belive it to be some paranormal paradox or extraterristal doing, and the goverment pissed the aliens off, so now the aliens are destorying any craft that enters that area.
Hmmm, well i was hoping to find something when i went to Bermuda last year, alas it was perfectly normal and not in the slightest supernatural
i was watching the discovery channel when they had a show about the bermuda triangle. they were trying to find out why the disappearances have occured... there is a natural reason they said. something about the center of the triangle creating this undertow like wave thing that just sucks you up. and when ur in the air it causes electrical failure in planes. i have to look it up. i watched it awhile back but it made a lot of sense. i just wish i remembered for sure.
