Has anyone here ever experienced an Out of Body experience? If so,What happened?Details are a must!In answer to my own ;yes all the time,I know when I am having an out of body experience because everything is the same excepT there is a fan going on my dresser,I don't have a fan in my room.
Yes,all the time.Actually,it is something I cant describe, even as much as I would like to be able to.
All I can really say is that I think it,it happens, whether I am awake or alseep.
i have been told that i do, but i either dont remember it or notice that is what it is. all i know is that i wakeup in the morning feeling as if i had not slept all night.
Oh wow, that would kinda be rough.Maybe its because you are doing it invoulantarily???,I really am not sure.
As if in a dream the anticipation of feeling without touch there is a different distortion to perception time stretches out the farther you venture the more concentration it takes to remember what you witness
the split between think back and staying out I sometimes see a "thread "back to my vessel.I should put up a poem in my journal I wrote soome times back for a friend who went through a life threating surgery.
The intresting thing is they only "tug",and "tangle"when one is over" conscious" of themI am sure they act as sort of fiber optic connections to the body.
I learned OBE to disassociate,I also merge with books as a if bibliogeist in some rare occuring dreams.
Hmmm LOL youll have to work on that tangle and tug.
The merging woth books is kool, you have a special technique for that?
every time I journey, LOL! Consciously
no BIGGIE!
people do it all the time subconsciously while asleep
some time i know i am having one and sometims i don't because i come back and i can write down everything i saw and i have never been to these places before .
I have only experienced it once, I have no idea how I did it, and wished I could again. I had layed down that night to sleep, I was thinking and concentrating on lying in the arms of the man I was dating, He lived in another state and at the time he had visted but had never been inside my home. I awoke with hair in my hand. His hair, I had been there with him that night. I wish I knew how I did this.
well if its like when you dream and your looking at yourself
I do all the time. Everything feels real to me. I also found this article...
"We all leave our physical bodies when we go to sleep at night.
You may have thought you were dreaming when actually you out of body traveling around the astral planes.
For instance if you were dreaming in full blown color and maybe flying or falling.
In these scenarios you would be actually be astral projecting."
The article later states that the reason you wake up with such a jolt after you've been 'falling' is because you're astral self is snapping back into your body.
If you Google Earth The city where you have had an OBE.You are more likely to zoom in manually to the location where it happened.OBES happen under four or perhaps more catagories.
1 Disassociation
2 Trama
3 extreme exilaration
4 meditation
Each has unique characteristics as well as common elements.
Tramatic and disassociation OBE surviviors need to reconnect with them selves long after the event happens. If not they may suffer night terrors .
I have had a sort of "fly on the wall" experience here and there. It may just be my imagination...And really, I always thought out of body meant you went somewhere else, or hovered above yourself...Never heard of details around you changing.
I think if you go somewhere and the details of the area you know of are different, you may not be having an Out of Body experience, you may just be hallucinating or dreaming.
Sachamoon, that is honestly fascinating. You can see the fan clearly?
I've had a few OBE's over the years. One of the most disorienting ones, was the one that was only a half-OBE. I woke up, and I could feel my legs and arms in the mattress although I could not feel the mattress. It was like floating on water.
I had a dream, as a child, that i left my body but not my bedroom, i just hovered above myself a long time. subsequent dreams had me flying but that one was significant in that it was my first out of body dream, and that made it even stranger.
Didn't we already have a thread with this subject?!
Anyway, I do it unconciously while I am sleeping...Weird I know, but I have woken up with bruises that I can't explain...I have tried to do it conciously, I just can't get my brain to co-operate
I cant partically describe it, but i think i have had a outer body experience, because sometimes i can be laid on my bed and i shut my eyes and its a really weird feeling and then i can see myself, like im lookin down on myself laid there. Its really weird and confusing :-s
Picture this...You are having a dream when suddenly everything feels very real, from the air you breathe, to the touching of your skin...Even to the heat or cold index, room temperature etc. around you.
Out of body is in another term...Astral projection. Hope this enlightens you.
Oh, btw...Happens all the time...Grown quite used to it, and am quite comfortable with it.
A while back during my "drug years' I was on 'K' and I had a out of body expereince. It was the weirdest thing I have ever felt, I was literally watching myself. Although the drugs help that to happen it wasn't a hullicination.
when I was 13 after a car accident,I experienced an out of body episode that scared the shit out of me. I was lying in bed,and when I had opened my eyes I was face to face with the celling tile, thinking I was just dreaming of curse, I rolled over an when I had I seen myself lying in bed sleeping.,this hasn't ever happened since then or at least I don't recall it happening ever again but none the less it scared the shit out of me.
I use to have them when I was a little girl.
Usually when something bad was happening to me I would just close my eyes and wish to be some place else. I would think of my safe place and I would just go there and some times I could see what was going on but it was like I could leave there and be in my safe place and then when I come conscious I wouldnt remember most of what had happened.
I have tried to do it as an adult but, just can't seem to get there anymore.
Unless you're dead slash dying I don't think its possible.
Wolfspirits:
No one said they were the same. Some one did 'K', I dropped acid. Different halucinogen, same experience.
I also saw Freddy K. in my ceiling and my fish swimming out side the tank...groovy.
When I had one, it was like I was still laying on my bed except I couldn't move and there was a black cat staring at me. it was wierd, and there were no drugs involved.
how do you know if you're projecting? is there a way to tell
the only recurring "dream" i've ever had has been where i can, i suppose, "fly" (not sure if thats the right term). i feel very light and can manipulate where i go. i'm usually only around houses. and there have been other people with/around me a couple times who could "fly" as well. it doesn't seem like a dream at all. and when i wake up i go from having a feeling of clarity to being deeply confused.
and like Arunima i've woke up and felt like i was floating. but sometimes my arms or hands wouldn't be "there".
*shrug*
i've had a couple of dreams where i could control what i did
does that count?
Closest I can think of is the one time i astro projected. My mother was in the hospital on her death bed and I was laying back in a reclining chair in the waiting room waiting for the rest of my family to get there and for visiting hours to start. Next thing I know I am in my mothers room and there are these black things around her with glowing eyes. The nurses are walking in and out of the room but none of them saw me. Next thing I know my grandmother is waking me up. At first I thought it was just a dream till I told my husband who had astro projected a few times with a friend of ours to ward off the black things with glowing eyes.Since than I am not sure if I have ever done it again.
I do alot, its like I'm floating in the air, and I'm light headed
The only times I have had out of body experiences is during traumatic incidences when I am literally watching the events unfold and am helpless to alter the course or the outcome.
I am not exactly thrilled when they happen because they are not easily controlled. It also depends upon what I am looking at while doing that.
I have found that if i clear my mind and do not think of anything else but were i want to be, I can more then likely make it there. 5 times out of 10
Its all on how badly and how well you tune out the sounds and life around you.
I believe that I have been having them.. pretty much on a nightly basis. I wake up with a new bruise, cut, or scrape. But I don't remember anything of my dreams so I really don't know fully if it is or not
I think everyone astral travels to some extent or another and that to me is what an out of body experience is. Most times people will only remember them as a falling dream and waking before hitting the ground. I believe that is only the astral body returning to the physical body and because you have not learned to control it it ends up feeling like you are falling so your memory puts in the appropriate pictures
I've read that when you dream you're falling, that is you returning from astral projection. I don't know if it is the same with out of body experiences.
I didn't know so many people could do this!~ I have never experienced it personally but I have heard that some it can happen to some people who are near death.
Well I haven't had a complete out of body experience... the closets I have come to one is when I was mediating once I had an itchy nose but I was in such a nice deep state I didn't want to move... but well guess you could say my soul arm reached out suddenly and scratched the itch even though my arm never actually moved lol.
It's not really an out of body experience, but there are times that I have the "wandering eye". I can see anything, in any direction, from anywhere (not just from my point of view) even to include looking back at myself
I had couple. At the time of it happening the things like white walk are quite common in my case, in the way that all is in white light(white light is not the accurate description of the experience, but it really cant go better with the worldly words in describing it), nothing around me, not even me, and when I am comming back, all the noise before it becomes smooth and usual, is in slowmotion, with changed intonation, deeper, very slow, gong faster up to the normal of what reallity should be. It is a funny thing that one, cant quite explain it, but at those moments it felt like my mind drifted away with absolutly no thought processing, but being me anyway. On some occasions it happend in public, like in the class room, where ppl had trouble for couple of minutes brigning my attention completly back(looking at me strange), I was deaf and blind, and not there, but the white walk in my mind or where ever. It is difficult to understand that state in the way that it is difficult to get to understand, that one is being in it at the time of it being experienced.
Aside to it being interesting, and curious, I do not see any other particular use in it, but probably to indefinitly float away, in to the whiteness, perhapse something of significance would appear/mainifest eventually. Maybe....
i have not had it happen to me but isn"t that kinda scary when it first happens to you?
It's only happened a few times. I'll normally be laying down in my room and I'll just feel as if I'm watching myself almost..
i have done this many a times i enjoy it because ita like a world away from our own reality
a couple of times once on purpose was able to travel ans see things that i later confirmed
ive never had it happen but my Nan used to talk about things that had happened that she couldnt of seen, she never went out the house and was very ill. When i asked her about it she would wink and say the bodys had it but my minds still strong.
i have had many out of body trips..and it seems they always tell me what has happened in the past or what is to come.
everyone has out of body experiances most people don't know it though. How we find out it has happened is your soul can not get back in and it wants to very much so. I have them quite frequently because I don't sleep well.
I have and it is odd cuz I can go anywhere I wish and check on those whom I care about. The next day I'm so completly drained and yet my body looks rested it's as though my mind is exhasted. No drugs or alchol have been involved when I OBE and it takes me forever to get back together with my body to rest.
I have had out of body experiences through meditation, but nothing involuntary...
With my best friend we are linked and sometimes I feel as if I am her. I feel and see with her heart and her eyes. I see me, but this connection only lasts for a few seconds and I hate it because it is totally an invasion of privacy in my eyes. I feel how see feels and I see everything the way she see's it. When I look at my face it is just blank. She doesn't trade to my body we just share hers. I can feel her in there as I am in her body, but the longest it has lasted is like a minute.
No, I've never had one. Knowing my luck even if I tried it and succeded, I'd get stuck like that somehow. -_-'
With my friend is the only one and it just happens sometimes I don't control it. We share everything from sickness to feelings to headaches everything, but I guess in ways we are connected/bonded.
I astral project most nights. Although I do not always remember it.
I guess my favorite one was when I went downstairs to make breakfast and couldn't figure out why nobody was responding to my questions. It became much clearer when my hand went through the cabinet door handle! At that time I figured I should go back upstairs - and of course, there I was still in my bed.
i have had those at some weird times and it is true that it is hard to explain even though i would like to explain it it is quite difficult
In 1983, I was declared dead by a doctor after an accident. However, when I was taken to the morgue for embalming my body came back to life. I can still remember people working on me, it was like I was standing with them. When they moved my body, I did not move with it and had to search for it. I do not remember finding it, just wakeing up in the morgue. My body felt extremely drained and I was upset that they were touching me.
Yes!
Sometimes it happens on it's own and I can start if I want it to happen. It's like I go into a sort of daze and then the only way I can describe the feeling is I begin to feel my spirit start to rise from my body and my body seems to get a heavy feeling and my head starts to get lighter. At this point I start to freak out at the feeling and stop the process. I have never let myself go to long because it is just to weird!!!
Most of mine have occured when I am driving a car for several hours. Most of us have experienced it. We are driving one minute, and the next minute, we are aware that we have travelled for 50-100 miles and we can't remember a second of the drive, but we were experiencing something else in our heads.
I actually told my best friend that I was experiencing these with her and she was fine with it. She didn't know they were going on and she said that she would feel more comfortable knowing that it is going on then it going on behind her back so to speak.
I've tried to do this, but I can't seem to let go. Maybe when I am ancient. I'm only old now. jk I think I am too afraid I won't be able to get back, or control the experience. I think I just need to lighten up.
I am unable to control my OBEs, I could be awake or asleep and I enter someone elses body. Through the lives I've touched, helped or destroyed, I have found myself in so many different lands. All except for two have been random flashes, like you are in a dark room and someone sets off a flash bulb, it gives me a second of trying to figure out where I am, and who I am. I have been on beautiful lush green fields next to ocean, underground, or on medical rescues in flooded lands... I have been men, women, -I think- every race. I hope to one day control it.
Yes, all the time. Travel back to places I enjoyed and feel at peace.
Alpha, does it affect you ability to lead a normal life. Can you drive safely?
Nope i don't think you can. I think its just part of a dream...because each time you aren't really aware of what you are doing or do you really have a good recollection of what had just happened.
Heard if most as a feeling of floating and being able to look down or back at ones own body. I have known a few people that say they have experienced this naturally during their sleep and know of many more that say they can travel outside their bodies when ever they want too. Seems to be a common practice or experience when people meditate.
My husband and I used astral projection for visiting while we were forcibly separated for two years, it felt a bit like an eternity, but our astral meetings kept our relationship intact. We practiced it through meditation, on a nightly basis. To me it was very relaxing spiritually. Not to mention meditation truly is a great way to center ones self.
i dont know if this counts but i can lay in my bed and after a while i can see myself doin something else. i can feel that i am laying down but see myself get up and do things. it knida crazy.
I had an outer body experience about a year ago that was very amusing..
I had fallen a sleep on the couch never making it to bed. I was in a dream like state in which I was flying around..Traveling place to place....visiting my family and friends...I visited one friend and saw her sleeping in her bed...I tried to get her attention. but it seemed I was unsuccessful. I was then awoken about 7am by a phone call from my friend...that told me she dreamt that I was standing at the foot of her bed... She said it was so real that she had to call and tell me... I told her I came for a visit... lol
I actually have once or twice, but its never when I mean to. I'll be sleeping and its this odd feeling of being high or dizzy and then you see yourself laying there. I can't figure out how I do it, but I can't wait until I do!
Well .. I'd figure during an out of body experience, if you were out of it too long you would probably die.
This is kind of off topic but I have read that if you dream in color it means you are having an out of body experience. But I dream in color all the time....
i was on a plane and fell asleep i felt as if my soul were back on hte ground and i saw all the people and an old lady that was getting robbed. 15. min later we got off the plane and the same old lady was standing with cops pointing to a guy in handcuffs
I had a dream once and in the dream i woke up and saw my self on the celing
It felt so real when i woke up from the dream it felt like i had come down from somewere
And i felt light headed and my heart was beating fast!@
I think i do it and don't realize it sometimes. I have had certain people to say, i saw you come to me and stuff like that before. I have literally seen my body when I came back down into it and once i went back into my body, i jerked and yes lol it made me freak out a bit but after things calmed down, i was more amazed.
Most of the Out of Body xperience are during a deep meditation. Many poeple that practice Yoga can perform this Out of body "trance".
i have had a few. it was rather interesting because i didn't go to where my body was. i went to other, far more interesting places. well, they were interesting to me, but i doubt many others would find them so
my first obe was when i was fighting with my mother i jumped into my bed yelling i wish i were dead and i hit my head and i saw my self up by the cieling and i could see my self on the bed at the same time it was strange, now i have them every now and then i been studying on how to control them so i can have them more often
Some wiccans can take an out of body "trip". I've read about it. It seemed intresting.
I can not say if I have for sure had an out of body experience. But I have had dreams that seem so vivid that I could swear I had actually been in the places I dreamed about.
well....just a few months ago i kissed one of my best guy friends on the cheek...im a really shy timid person who has never done that before in my life so i left my body..it was still during the school day jsut after lunch to be exact and i had to get back to my class..i stumbled down to my class an when i got there i asked one of my firends if that really happened..apparently it did
The only thing I can compare to this is , once siting in lounge chair . Everything more or less quiet, the TV low. I did not feel like I was sleeping , but my eyes were closed , I could "see" the room . The weirdest part of that was I felt like I was sitting on myself trying to get up.......it was cool and strange all at the same time. Wish I could do this on purpose!
I have experienced something like this, somewhat hard to explain, but it usually begins with feeling like I am falling, and then I am looking down on my body, its like something you would see when your dying, I never go far just watch my body laying there resting and its somewhat earie. Then all at once bam, its as if I fall forward and wake up, I'm not sure if its a dream or if its outter body?
I have never had a out of body experience, even after i got struck by lightning i didn't. I don't rightly think i want one to tell you the truth.
One I have had one. It was weird cause I did know exactly what was happening. All I knew was that I was mad. I didn't know what I did but when I woke up from it, my room was totally destroyed and My knuckles were bleeding.
It can be done if the spirit willing*grins* and the person has had disipline and training in mediation and the like.
I have used it several times in the last 3 years, visiting my family and my love back home in U.K.
To be brief,I go into my deep meditative state and visualize home, the sights and scents and sounds and just will myself there. I try to keep track of what I have seen and double check withwhat i saw with the people i visited to see if my thoughts match what they were doing, wearing, etc.
It takes a lot of energy to do this and I am usually quite tired the next day.
i have had a couple out of body experiences...
one time i was in class and i got really bored and fell asleep..
but i wasn't asleep...
i walked out of the door and went to spy on some kids and...
i only way i new was when i screamed... no one looked at me and no one could hear me..
this other time i was at a friends house at her pool.
i think i hit my head on something and went under the water.....
i saw myself falling and i could pick myself up...
but i made it to the surface....
but my body was on the pool bottom...
it was weird...
Dont know if it was necessarily an out of body experience, but I had a couple incidents where I had went to bed and doesnt seem like I was quite asleep and then somehow I get startled and I am wide awake but can't move my body at all...Its kind of freaky,,
I'm pretty sure I have... But I found it very scary, and it just didn't feel "right".
i have, i was dreaming i cant remember what as what followed was more tranquil i came out of my body and was looking at myself it was like i was flying but not its hard to explain, i couldnt see me as i was floating because it was through my eyes, but i could see me on my bed in my room seeing myself asleep, hope that helps you i cant really explain the rest its really a wow sensation
I have had dreams of leaving my body before, but nothing more significant than that. It was all weird dreams too. Does this count as an OBE?
Well doubtful this counts ofcourse, but I've had a few sexual encounters that were so exceptional I felt as if I had had an out of body experience, but that's as close as I've come to an actual one fortunatley or unfortunatley.
The first was disturbing and had me pinching my leg before I pee from the age of 5 to 9 lol
After that it has become a fine art, once I know im in a dream it’s ok… till then I read a label on something and read it again … if it changed im on to the dream.
I astral ascend loads and very different from vivid dreams
That didn’t as I know happen till latter, controlled by my coven leader

What do you mean you're pretty sure you have? If you had one wouldn't you know it?
But I myself have never truly had one.
I think its one of those rare occuring things that happens to a select few.
