Do you believe in destiny, that you're walking down a certain road and have relatively no controll over where it takes you? Or do you think that we all choose and make up out own destiny as we go along, more like the roots of a tree than a winding road?

I think everyone has a destiny. Though someone might think something is their destiny and it isn't. To believe that my life is already predetermined isnt such a wild idea.

About 7 years ago i was in high school and i wanted to learn a trade, I want to learn about puters. There was no room in the class, so i choose auto. I completed the course and was best in my class. After i graduated I did a lot of stuff, but noting auto related, though i always felt this kind of pull to cars and i always want to pop the hood and all that. Now im going back to school to become certified. I believe I was destined to become an Automotive Technician. I also believe I was destined to kill off most of the worlds population, but thats a story for another time.

I believe in the power of my Inner Self, and by that I mean the subconscious, and I like being able to tap into that power (its one of the reasons I am learning the Tarot, as I believe that this can help me strengthen my bond with my Inner Self.)

I think that destiny is the hunger of the soul for something that it doesn't already posess, and trying to find a way to get it within our environment.

I do not believe we are powerless over our future, but my belief in reincarnation leads me to the idea that we must have some sort of purpose or ultimate lesson we must learn. So I suppose I believe we choose the path, but we are expected to arrive to at a certain predestined conclusion eventually.

Then sometimes it depends on what decision we make and then there is the destiny for it.For example there are two choices and whichever you choose there's a path for it.

Also I believe that life is mathematical cause the things that happen or we do in the past,we have to face them again in the future.Am not talking about the result or consequencies,(which always there are for every decision we make)but that the same situations we have to face them again, not exactly like the past but similar.

Also if there is re-incarnation,I believe it happens cause we had an untimed death or that we didn't reach our goals,so we have another chance to complete our destiny.

I believe in destiny yes but I don't believe that it controls what we do. I think certain things are set up for us in our lives but I think it allows us to choose the road that will lead us to it. If things are preset for us and we don't have a choice, then how can our choices be considered good or bad? How can we be accused of not making the right choice if it is predetermined. I think that if there is a destiny, a pre-ordained path, then it just likes to screw things up and mess with you.
Things happen for a reason, but we are helpless to stop them.
We try to change our path, and get blocked by something else.

I think destiny is based on free will... that whatever road we choose the outcomes are already set for us unless we choose another road and then it changes those outcomes... so on and so fourth... so in a way we have control but then again no... yes we can tap into outside powers but i believe that it will only help us choose the better road with the better outcome....

I don't really like the idea of not having control of my life, it takes all the fun out of it. I like to think that what I do is what I choose to do and no one has a say in it. I belive we all have a destiny, but it depends on if we chose to follow it, I've broken away from mine many times, just to see what lays on the other path, I think it might be better to use this saying though, follow your heart and it will take you where you need to be, damn I am being so cliche'.

Destiny, is something that different ppl believe in, or not. Their choice. I for one do believe in that there must be a higher purpose for all us (Destiny), but it is prone for life itself to throw some really awsome curve balls, but like ppl say "That's life". It's when ppl actually believe that they have reached their destiny they can say "Fuck, i done good".

I totally believe in destiny and that we have no choice of were our life ends though we can change subtle details about it such as how we walk and how we do things but we always will walk or go to our predetermined area in life. I mostly believe this , because of how I met Raven, no other way coudl explain how we met but destiny, i do not believe in coincidence, everything happens for a reason.

Life around you isn't very predictable. However, I make the best of what I've got. I do not believe that every step of the way is already chosen for me.

I know I can change something if it's not right for me. I rely on choices that I make myself. Hmm...maybe some of us have a "calling" in life and know from the moment you could think in abstract terms what you wanted and how those around you help you pursue that one goal...you could possibly say that's destiny. Anyways, that's just me.

I don't believe in destiny as a strict path from which we cannot deviate. Rather, I believe that life consists of a "pool" of possible events. The paths we choose and decisions we make in between affect where we end up and which possible events we experience or don't experience. It is similar to what Cadamia said.

I believe that most people have a calling, but that it's not written in stone that you'll end up doing so. For example, that middle-aged cashier at your local grocery store could be a fantastic musician who made choices that caused him to miss his calling. Those weren't necessarily wrong choices, they just caused him to not be in the right place at the right time, thereby not experiencing the events leading to his possible destiny.

But that's just what I think.

quite a few of you see a difference in fate and destiny, as do i, but at thenend of the day do you think you can be under the influence of both and come out in one place or do you think you can only follow one to reach the end?

to elaborate on my defnition, i also thing you can stray from your path by certain choices you make but you are still moving in the same direction to certain destinations, and you cannot change those destinations, even though you think you have choice in your life it is really a minor choice that does nothing to affect that destination.

yes, i believe in destiny. there are many paths in which we walk upon, each one has ffork in the road, it is here where we alone make a choice. weather taht chose is destiny or no, i dont know, but, mayhap i am not ment to know. each fork in each path will hold a destiny. then that path will come to another fork and that path also hold destiny. and so it continues. but we should never know weather it is our souls that are in control or, that the fates are playing what cards of destiny seem fit.

I believe that everyone has a destiny, but that it is a flexible one.
I mean you can make your own decisions, but then the path you have chosen has a set outcome, and it is like a big circle. Make a decision, deal with the outcome, then make another decision based on that outcme, and so on.

I agree with echo, as far as dealing with it's existence. As far as "does" it exist, I don't think it exist for everyone. Some have a destiny, some don't. Some are more awake than others, some just wander through life. I am sure that the fates weave a life tapestry for some, but I doubt they care about the drones of mediocrity.

I believe in destiny, but I think sometimes we have choices. I read tarot cards and the future seems to be fluid a great deal of the time. This can be annoying to me when I'm trying to divine my own future. Other times, the future is set in stone. I saw this once when the cards predicted literal death (the only time they have meant a literal physical death). Vampirism might even be a part of destiny, although we can't say it's a religion or spiritual path. There are others in the community who I haven't met in person but we have a psychic connection.

I think it's 50-50. I believe that we all are born with Karma issues to solve, and the rest is what we make of it. It's pretty much like having a certain potential, and how we overcome the obstacles with the "weappons" we are born with. But I strongly believe that we are all born with a mission.

I don't know...I'm kind of half and half on this one. I believe there are certain things in our lives that are destined to occur such as meeting a close friend or going to a certain school, etc. But I believe the rest is up to us.

Destiny as in someone else picking out path and endpint in life. I don't think so. We, I believe, have now, a set of circumstanses - call it opportunity or free agency, and from that we make choices, and sct on them. We choose our course, and or not mere puppets on a string.

hmm this is hard for me kinda, I do believe me meeting my wife was destiny but I also believe we have the choice in life to make things happen and to change things.

When I was young I thought I was carving my own path through life. I laughed at the idea of destiny.

Now I have odd moments where I'll do something new, and realize all the things I've learnned seem to have lead up to be being able to do it.

I tell myself I am reading to much into life so I can still believe in my own free will. I shape my future damnit!
