Remember in every story they say how to kill a vampire. With a stake or a cross or holy water or garlic and dont forget the sunlight. Why is it they think that they can kill something so easy thats been living longer then they have been alive? I mean come on its like saying one bite from us turns them to vampires or kills them. It just doesnt happen that way.
Tell me what you think on this......
Many folks living in the lands of eastern Europe still believe in the Dracula and Strigoi type vampire even today, rising from the grave to terrorize mankind.
In all old vampire legends the human hunter was the hero, it wouldn't have been so satisfying for the reader or listener to hear that a vampire isn't just immortal by nature but indeed unstoppable. Therefor it made more sence to "give" the vampire threats ridiculous weaknesses like garlik and holy crosses that every family had in their houses.
true but i ment like in todays world i know people that still believe this way and they think one bite from you or i could change them into a vampire which is totally rediculous
They only know the hollywood stereotype vampire, if you told them you are one yourself and that the only change they'd feel from a bite of yours is a bacterial infection they'd probably say you're nuts.
suprisingly no thats not what they have done. one even asked me to change him the other threw holy water on me
Such reactions result from the hollywood cliché, maybe it's best when you don't tell anyone who you don't feel to be abolutely open minded. Closed minded persons tend to react in such ways and throwing holy water on people is still the most harmless one at that, there have been far worse.
very true but i find it funny how they think that the movies control our lives and what not. I mean yes we do bite but only people we choose. I just dont get it.
There have been a million threads about that, in essence they just feel what they can't understand.
yes but how do we help them understand i mean they all cant be stupid
Unfortunately you can't reach everyone, maybe it's better to let them believe we're just a part of literature history.
Besides, there are psychos out there who if they hear you're a vampire will try to cause you fatal harm if possible, spreading such information can backfire real fast.
As I said, only tell people who you know to be open minded and that you have a trustable and generally good feeling about, then you have almost nothing to fear.
I agree, there are some people that can handle the information, and others will completely flip out about it. It's just how they were raised and what they were taught to believe. As much as we might wish things to be different, they aren't, and we must learn to deal with reality as best we can.
people will fear what they cant kill so they created a way to do it. the heart because its what holds our souls, garlic only works when u put it in its mouth and cut off its head
Well, actually, I wouldn't call dying after having one's head cut off and a stake driven through one's heart "dying easy" myself.
Im just going to say my opinion on the whole holy water and stake/hammer speal..
-.-
HolyWater has NO EFFECT on people unless its tainted with an acidic impurity.
Secondly, Stakes would KILL ANYONE if shoved into ANYONES HEART.
Thirdly, silver bullets COULD KILL ANYONE OR ANY ANIMAL FOR THAT MATTER.
Vampires can be killed just as humans can
true but movie vampires and vampire lore are whats well known more so then the truth. it can't b helped that the conversations end up like this. thats y sites like this one are created so educate the masses
well if beheading a vampire doesnt kill it, it would surely suck to live for ever...i mean with out a head and all...
because they think they are better than vampires. People who made those myths probably dont believe in vampires
Read Member Articles, there are several articles on the subject.Such as mine on Hollywood vs History. Some of the Hollywood sterotyping of *killing* is taken from history,in turn was based in real life hunting of *Vampires*.*Staking* a vampire began in the mid 1800's,when villagers would dig up the body of a deceased loved one. They would *stake* them to the coffin,so they couldn't rise from the grave.
that would not be easy to do. as it is a loved one, who is all rotten and stuff
no....right after they were buried...within days of burial...hence rising from the grave after death...not years
still it wouldnt be easy digging up a loved one after they die to stick a sharp peice of wood into them
think about it though...it is the 1800's...the world is going through alot...you live in a small village where several people have died in odd ways....you believe in myth, legends etc....you have been told your daughter was seen walking through thr village at night...even though she is dead...*vampires* have been known to roam the country side....you would
well thats true. but if you were told just to go to her grave and do what you have to it would be hard. but i get your point, if she was walking about then you would have no choice
...all handles who "might kill" a vampyr are killing human too... right !!!
but i guess inquisition made that so popular just to be able to control their adherents of faith.
so it is normal that the world is preparing themselves with garlic, holy water and woodstabbs ---
i got them here in my house... and ?
yet alive...
lol
yea but being a vampire and rising from the dead is due to brain activity. maybe the brain hasnt died out and thats why they still walk among us. im also speaking from like no experience, thats just what i think
Right and you have to remember...they lived in different times, they had stories passed down from generation to generation, they didn't have TV,the internet, phones etc.what they were told about vampires, lycanthropy, etc they believed it all.Plus they believed that the people they buried was still alive, when they opened the graves and saw the nails looking longer and the hair growing....it was just the body drying out....making them looked like they grew
Well, not to be the goofy post or anything but the vampire cliche has given rise to some awsome video games. castlevania.....
But on more serious note everyone around here I've talk about think vampires are gothic people who drink blood. Especially after a guy went berserk in eustis. His name eludes me right now. I know it starts with an R though.....
By here I meant Deland, Fl. not VR. I saw that looked a little weird...
people have to remember the difference between zombi and vampire lol
No....you have to stop thinking in the 21st Cen. think back to the 1800's in the areas where *vampires* were *real*...they didn't know anything about zombiesthe word *zombie* was used in the middle east...only in the islands around Jamaica
wow i see i have gotten a lot of post to this. Well I was talking about present day. Like the ones i know. I know i could be in very big trouble because one of my friends is a vampire hunter and goes way back in her family but i dont want to tell lets call her sarah. Sarah that i am one even though shes my best friend and swears i have an evil aura.
isnt it i mean she has no clue of what i am but she says i have the evil aura when im nothing but good most of the time.
perhaps but i love her to peices. Even if she ever finds out that i truely am one. I love my friend pat too because he made me look like a movie vampire for holloween and my friend Sarah came at me and asked me to bite her like she was under my spell it was funny
Killing/slaying Vampires is now stereotyped with Hollywood, so yeah they make it look easy to kill them.
well i dont see how that could happen. i think it is really stupid.
Hollywood made it look easy to kill *vampires* so that the *hero* would look like a hero. This also means that people like the film because they think they can do what the *hero* did. when in acctual fact they probabily would not stand a chance against a real *vampie*
I think the people that think that way have mager brain damage.
The media just makes me so angry at the way vampires are portrayed. Ok, so they appear seductive, passionate, sexy, yada yada yada, but they're also shown as evil, ruthless, merciless killers. No wonder real vampires like some of us have difficulty living in normal society! Bram Stoker has a lot to answer for....
I dont really know what the media has to do with it but if it wasnt for Bram Stoker most of what is known about vampire culture wouldnt be known. Dracula caused people to truly notice the vampire.
As i stated in another forum about objects believed to kill or harm vampires. It is not the object itself as a stake to the heart would kill anyone.. Hell if u could jam a stake into the heart of an elephant it would die as well. Crosses, holywater and other such things alone does no one harm. Vampires, demons or whatever you feel are here to harm u.
Take my profile story, for instance, If I had simply said that I was a Sanguinarian it wouldnt have been intersting enough, so I fabricated the story to hold peoples interests (and I am in no way claiming to be immortal), though the thought is appealing.
thanks for the feed back guys i cant wait to read more
What good are stories meant to keep kids in fear and inline if there isn't also a safegard to keep them from going completely insane from panic and fear?
Aren't most myths tools used to help keep either children or 'the masses' in line by use of fear? And if so, then wouldn't it be prudent to prevent mass hysteria by building in a 'safeguard?'
Science is the new Hollywood. People want a little of proof with their fiction. They look at vampirism as a disease. Swapping of bodily fluids, saliva meets blood, in with the new blood and out with the old, ect. The legends of old just don't cut it anymore in the movies.
I personally laugh at the cross thing, since I'm a JEWISH vampire....what about muslim vamps, and buddhist vampires as well? Are they gonna try to stick crosses in their faces an say "Begone ye demon," or something like that? Don't think so!! (End rant)
Crosses don't effect me at all... as for the stake, well I think that would kill just about anything vamp or not!!!
And when you stuff someones throat with garlic they can sffocate and die to :D
its movies or books, myth or legend so who knows really what kills us
wack its head off. there for it cant drink blood and then the vampire will just die
my opinion
Unless it is one freaky vamp and grows itself a new head :)
well since im wicca holy water and crosses are totally fake to me. And the stake is just fable i havent seen a staking in years
if you cut off anyones head...they die...you stake anyone...they die
Here's how I believe it goes.
yes those methods of killing a vampire would kill most anything. However, the garlic, crosses & holy water? I believe they affect those that believe they are affected by them. Kind of a psycho schematic (sp) scenario. Those that believe in voodoo will be affected by voodoo. Those that believe in JC will have JC affect their lives. Therefore if a vamp believes that garlic will bother them, then more than likely it will.
Yeah Hollywood has stereotyped a lot and I firmly believe that these stereo types are based on some form of fact. Kind of like all rumors have a basis in fact. Maybe the primogens suffered in different ways than the vampires of today?
I Think All That "Holy Water" && "Stake" To Scare && Kill A Vampire
Is Bogus.
It's Just To Scare Kids..
&& Entertain People..
I Dont Believe Its True.
Its Fake.
i would imagine a stake thru the heart and the removal of the head, yeah, that should do the trick. And more than likely exposure to the sun. But I by no means am a vampire expert and don't even claim to know alot about them. That's just my opinion though.
People will always fear what they cannot understand it will be that way till the end of time.
Fear has been used as a powerful tool of control for centuries especially by the churches.
Killing vampires is a topic full of truth, half truth and pure myth.
Garlic * some people do have severe allergies that can kill them, garlic could be one of them
Stake * yeah i'me with the others on this one a stake through the heart is gonna sting the day after
Holy water * disagree its gonna sting, mark, kill its only water
Head choppings * see stakes
Silver bullets * depends on body armor, etc but would probably have same impact as a stake
if he will kill a human it might kill us but they will never know that because they fear to listen to whats true and whats myth. If only we could educate the masses but i know thats not posible for one there are thick headed people around and some still set in their own ways. Besides the same thing happened to witches in salem. The people are just plain stupid!
People have different opinions on everything, but yes, I remember as being a kid alot of people said garlic and stakes were the most indefinet ones to kill them.
I think they shall not be killed, they harm nothing, well not all.
yes i know but still i rather educate then live in fear
most of that is from hollywood movies and u know the saying "monkey see, monkey do"? well thats whats goin on, ppl see that in movies and believe it.... there being hypnotised in a sence
i do remember the stake through the heart and holy water an exposure to sunlight since i was younger. but i think much of that is just hollywood and not real. like many have said a stake through the heart would kill anyone! and some do have allergies to garlic and it would affect them but the holy water...yea maybe if it had acid in it would harm anything. i do remember what someone mentioned back in the 1800's when they used to dig up their loved ones and drive a stake through their heart if they thought they were a vampire or their hair and nails kept growing. but i've heard when everyone dies that hair and nails keep growing even after death.
everything was created in fear, vampires, werewolves,m monsters, hell even suntan lotion, everything in this scares at least one person, some things scare many ppl, some things scare almost everyone, therefor in order to comfort ourselves we must create ways to fight back these diseases, thus why they think that garlic, light, etc would kill vampires, cause that would give ppl hope, and it would boost the supply and demand on those items
so your saying they made up the way to kill so that they could mass produce it and make a fortune
Well me myself have had experience with entites. Ive been woken up my them. And also it in my Journal also, But one night my husband was in the restroom and he has psychic abilities as well as I do he came out of the restroom with a scared look on his face. He said he saw someone was laying in the bath tub, i know this may sound kinda corny to some, but I walked in and felt cold and like something was pulling at me. But this entity was harmless, it seeming to be reaching out for some kind of help. Well I use alot of Sage, and I chant alot so i went and grabbed some dried sage and started to burnt it my husband felt something walk right thru him after i started to chant.
Then after all that we havent had anything in our bath tub again. Im half native indian also so my culture we used Sage to clean a new house from evil. As a house blessing. And it does work. This isnt my first experience with entities and probably wont be the last either.
But with Vampires and Were wolf etc.. That I do not know. I only know what i read about. I have a magic and spell book. But you never know :)
they are made up to create interest...to create questions such as this...but yet to entertain...the motives and ways to kill a vampire may be obviosly stupid to some but completely believable to another...hey that is just how stupid some people are.
quite interesting girls i have shadows in my corner not sure if good or not will post back later on it
In their great strength, such weakness? No, holy water and garlic will not bring such beings to their knees. But if it helps people sleep at night, they may believe what they wish.
it's the classic weak point in so many stories and faery tales. the great invincible dragon has just one scale missing on his belly, and an archer's arrow can kill him. the giant can take on an army, but a small stone and a sling in young david's hand can topple him. the death star can blow up planets, but had its little weakness too, didn't it?
it's woven into the collective unconscious memory of man, that evil always has a weakness and can be brought down, if one is clever/ resourceful/ brave enough...
I think if you cut anything's head off or you impale it in its vitals (heart) everything is more than likely going to die from that kind of damage.
I'm loathe to post this, as it's not a good idea to tell people how to kill, but, from a metaphysical aspect, there is a theory (mine lol), that damaging the chakra's is what causes the actual collapse of the energetic body which would be carried over into a new lifetime, thus rendering the immortal aspect impotent and effectvely killing the vampyre not only physically, but spiritually as well.
lothe it if you want but i did it to find out what people think not to make you unhappy
Have to give kudos to Hollywood and the written word. I agree with most everyone here on their views. Society is afraid of what they don't know, and some just really refuse to totally research. I am sure I am not the only Witch that has been asked absolutely stupid questions. Being a Vampire is the same way. The try and pull you in, then laugh at you or curse you. I say either try to educate or just let them live in their own little world.
thank you all for your thoughts on this and i think you all rock for keeping this thread going
I think it's over dramatized, stake through the heart and whatnot, well other then the thought if you set one on fire... then I think that would destroy anything if you give it enough time >.>
Well how I see it...Immortal means Immortal...That is just a way to make people feel better. So they think they can do the impossible. It gives them hope and faith.
I personally believe that the origin of the use of garlic, stems from old beliefs about the impurity and taint of the blood of the Vampire, and therefore attempts to use the garlic for its blood purifying qualities.
I think we all have a right to live on this world, since we were here long before others, and we'll prolly be here long after.
Shadowgirl
I don't know a vamp had remarkable healing powers, i you take of the head, or drive a stake through the heart, but you would have to destroy the whole heart, and sunlight, i don't really know if thats true, is it... as far a garlic i don't think thats ever really worked....
Well,
I'm just Confused.
Maybe All The Vampires Through Many Years Of Blood Sucking Developed Alergies Yo Uv rays And garlic. And As For A Stake To The Heart, That Would kill Anyone, So What Can I Say? I've Been Deprived Of Sleep
LMAO
I've seen a lot of comments in regards to the fact that the 'methods' for killing a vampire would in fact "kill anything" and this is of course true. The difference is that these mythological methods of dispatching a vampire are supposed to be the ONLY methods of killing them whereas a human could die any number of other ways. SO while a stake through the heart of a vampire is just as deadly to a mortal, getting hit by a car would kill a mortal but evidently merely bruise a vampire's ego for having been slow enough to be hit in the first place.
people watch too much damn tv. hey believe everything that they see/hear. if people really wanna know the truth they should try reading about it, and a factual book not some fiction book on Vampires
all the stake through the heart and all the other stuff is a hollywood legend made by the movies
Well no matter what it is in life there is always the thing that will kill it. (Superman cryptonite) But i think they could have also came up with something a little better than garlic also. Probably was a vamp that was allergic and that made people believe they were all allergic.
First off. For those of you who read vampire lore and history should know that garlic was not used to repel vamps but worn around the neck to cover the smell of dead bodys when vamp hunters were serching graveyards.
And as far as the advanced healing. Blood contains iron(which is why it can have a metalic taste) and iron helps the whole of your body run smothly. so by drinking blood you are getting more iron which in turn creates more red blood cells and improves your immune system. But of corse there is a chance of an iron overdoes.
Also I don't know if this is true but in Fight Club they say you can drink up to a pint of blood without getting sick.
Its simple, its all about making a group of people feel safe. A long time ago a large group of people started to fear vampires and the people "In Charge" created those things to make them feel safe. Knowing all well the truth of the matter.
you said a lot about all aspects of the thread... you compared the old beliefs with some thoughts of nowadays and you discussed some practial aspects.
in my eyes the reason for the weaknesses of the vampires is something else... a human can die by sword, by falling and breaking his neck, by illness, by age and by a lot of other things.. a vampire doesnt suffer from all that... he is strong, healthy, never tired and a lot more.... being a vampire seems to be the perfect thing so everyone would want to be a vampire, but for this dark gift you have to pay something in the legends and history and you pay the weaknesses you get as a vampire... now sunlight to mention only one... its like with everything else you want something you have to pay for it something else... makes the hole thing more logical i think
you have to remember that its folklore. the people had to know that there was a way to kill something that was ancient and powerful, so over the years stuff had to be made up to make the them feel safe and like they had a way to keep their fears in check.
everyone knows that if vampires were real the only way to kill them would be to cut their heads off or by fire.
I think if Vampires were given the power for a longer/immortal life, maybe they're not supposed to be able to be killed with stakes through the heart etc. But maybe some spiritual way rather than like "ahh stake em em". Lmao.
Of course there is the possibility that the wooden stake, the garlic, the Holy Water etc all had symbolic meaning...as the Vampire itself could have had a symbolic archetypical significance. Perhaps the embodiment of evil itself (the vampire) was to be "killed" by the wooden stake (ie. "Love") thrust through its heart (inmost primary affections which rule our lives). Allegory and metaphor were very common story telling tools in ancient times. Not so much today. Just something to think about.
At the end of the day they are out to make money, so they stick to the same formula that has grossed them mega bucks over the years, it maybe considered lazy, but if it aint broke why fix it!
I fail to see how looking up age old myths and folklore is going to show the 'real facts' vs hollywood. Lest you have personal experience, I also fail to see where one can arrive at the absolute answers on how to kill creatures based on tales or accounts that occured in the same century as sea monsters as valid maritime dangers and leeches as valid medicine.
You either acknowledge that you believe in a mythological creature (which is no worse than believing in religion) whereby you don't need to follow logical solutions since you're now in realm of the supernatural...
or you acknowledge that you don't believe in vampires (in the supernatural sense) and thus you don't care what the method of killing one would be since you believe it to be fiction.
hmm.. no one can be sure of that before a real vampire is killed by one and the one who did it telly truthfully how he did it... i mean one of those immortal vampires and not one modern vampire...(dont want anyone walk around and kill vampires so hope you got that)
the thing about is that there are things that humans cannot creat but there is nothing humans cannot destroy as it sometimes seems we have been created to destroy.
i hope we all agree that there must be a possibility to kill even a vampire
i understand what your saying but this is just silly i mean just like anything else that has folk behind it. just like the salem witches you know they were the ones that lived and showed out the humans as witches.
genuine blood - I would have to say that depending on the belief, mankind will find a way to protect itself from dangers both real and imagined. I still believe that the argument here should be divided into two categories...those who are talking about the mythological vampires in their various forms and guises and those who are talking about the more modern psychic vampire (which for all purposes here is still just a human). One can argue that the mythological or supernatural vampires could have various ways and or means of killing and as you said...who would know unless they met that situation face to face. Since the issue is hypothetical, there is always the possibility that such a supernatural creature could in fact be 'indestructible' or at least harder to kill that a mere stake through the heart.
Very interesting, Hollywood will always portray what sells, but i feel they are getting better as the times pass
we may not like some of it but we cant really die from it, good ol hollywood tho. is it true bout su living forever?
Leave it to Hollywood to come up with a new wayto start killing us off when they get bored with the "traditional" methods.
because the protaganist have to win and they believe vampires are the antaganist.
Openminded people will probably not believe these sterio types. What one has to watch out for, are the closeminded people. They choose to believe these ridiculus notions becase they don't have the energy or intelligence to see beyond. That's just my opinion though.
Ahh yes, the vampire stereotype...one of the many many stereotypes out there. Don't you just love it.
meh um i dont see why they would do that i think its to "hollywood" invovled i dont think in reailty people can catch us vampires eh.. we move to fast and come in many different forums and shapes.. i think it is just movie based on what your trying to add here. BUt dont get me wrong great poast i love talking about vampires. For many years since back before the burning time they have been around. with witches and covens dreaded towrds rituals is a great way to believe that there so many out there maybe some what are humans and can trick you *evil grin*~
My personal belief about the holy water thing was a way to upboost christainity. The sunlight thing is only the fact we are assoceated with night as such a lycan being kiled with a silver bullet. These are myths, lies.
I don't really think most of that is true...The stake, yes. But the holy water...Most definately no. I don't think so. I think that was made up to make the statement, "Vampires are evil." Probably by a Christian.
Read my journal and you will see my take on that. I would find it impossible to kill something that lived longer than me. People have to believe that evil will eventually be destroyed. I am now interested in how Jk Rowlings will end the Harry Potter series. Will Lord Voldermort get his? Or will a writer finally have the guts to let him survive since he is evil. Since children read the books, I am hedging my bet towards the Dark Lord falling for good.
Well, I think all of those things are silly, but what is even worse is how hollywood protrays vampires killing human. Um hello, you are so not gonna die from one bite! the human body contain upto ten pints of blood, and unless they take a serious chunk out, its not going to work.....as for the cross thing, I think that depends on the belief of the person, that gives that images power.
I think most of the movie stereotypes are just made up by people that do not believe in vampires to begin with. Obviously they really don't know how to kill one, it's just a way to make humans feel better, or to make them feel that they have some kind of power over vampires.
I agree, people don't beleave in vampires so when they watch the movies they think that they know everything about them, and how to kill them.
People fear and loath what they don't understand..Hollywood made a nice buck out of making Vampires the evil monster with no soul..Just add a dash of garlic an once of water that has been blessed by a priest find a nice ash stake and what have you got a movie.....Vampires real Vampires are no more effected by this then a normal person..The only way would be if they had in life been a deeply religious person and believed in the power of these symbols....A bit like a Voo Doo curse its in the belief that these things work then if they do or not...Belief is the key nothing more
They always do that in books AND films. Which makes us (mere observers) enjoy it OR it gives us something to bitch about.
I myself do not see how you could killsomething that is ALREADY DEAD* I mean they are dead and still walking around,as for hollywood I agree that they need a hero and to put fear into the public of things that THEY* do not know for sure really exist or not therefore they have an upper hand on society~~~ of course I feel that the saying ~~ THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR ~BUT FEAR ITSELF~~ as I have stated before IBELIEVE anything is possible ~~ so who is to REALLY say you can kill THE UNDEAD?* I mean holly wood will always make a fortune off of the unknown because so many do not BELIEVE in it ONLY FEAR IT!! *** just an opinon~~~~~
Your welcome, I just truely do Believe that people Fear vampires and have no Ideal what it really is are who they really represent in this realm, I mean we~~humans~~ have always since the beginning had FEAR* stressed into our brains that, They really start to believe what they are putting out there to be true,*** Hell I would actually meet Dracula myself and get it all straight from him,** maybe some day YOU NEVER KNOW~~~ :)
Yeah, definately made up ways to "kill" a vampire so people would feel like they had power over them...Humans have no power over vampires, and that's the truth.
I think vampires definately dont want to be the victim of a hunt. I have only heard through media beheading , stakes through the heart ,and sunlight kills religious relics like crosses and holy water , garlic repels. Again its media portrayal. I think a true vampire knows their weaknesses depends on the vamp what demise for death will befall em. ;) my opinion
Hmm personally I think that stabbing any one through he heat would kill them. Enough garlic and most people with nose will stay away. As for the sun light in opposes the darkness and has an effect on most thing hat people fear. To make it short its just another stero-type.
well i dont think vampires ever canm be finished or killed . its all a myth which we read and see that holy waters ,sunlight etc etc vanishes them you just cant .they are immortal indeed.
well, in all the research i've done, many different people have many different ways to "kill" vampires. also, a lot of them say that it all depends on what kind of vampire it is.
stake through the heart yes, crosses, holy water, garlic(they just hate the smell of it) no and the sunlight just weakens them
Most people that believe this are in the olden European areas, which is most likely a traditional economy, so their going to believe what has always been believed.
I think this falls into that whole stereotype of vampires again...sure, a stake through the heart will kill them, hell, a steak through the heart would pretty much kill anyone...those who don't understand believe what society tells them to understand
I think the answer to this is simple...one word...HOLLYWOOD!!
its a common factor they put it in a movie the genral public will belive it
There are still people that hang sage above thier doors to ward off evil spirits, still those who place mirrors across from doorways so that demons will not enter thier homes, place the blood of a sheep on all four corners of doorways and windows to keep out negative energies...these things will never cease so long as there are old women telling tales and young children believeing them...
In My Opinion... THough I myself am not vamp ... My Love is... Anyway In my opinion Many people are weak Minded And Control freakss... If they cannot control the Idea they Will not agree And Even become violent...
* Most fail to accept what they do not understand .... They Fall Deep and Land Hard And Dont come back to openess.
most people dont realize that the legends mostly lie in unrational connetions to reality. for instance garlic drives away both mosquitos and vampire bats when it is in the blood. there for some one may think that it would drive away anything that drinks ones blood.also bats are driven away by the sunlight thus creating that myth.also hollywood has done much to reinforce these myths throughout time.
anyway it all depends on the vamps even some of them belive such mythos that state they will burn up in the sun. they have simply given into legend
well as for garlic, crosses and all that shit,i think not,but if i cut off ur head u would probally die too,and as for stakes,if u pierce someones heart all the blood flows into the body and u die!!!!!!
I think people have based vampires on the idea they are all evil beings of darkness and as such believe that forces of good can destroy them. I guess the sun is good and pure since it obliterates the darkness. I believe that humans are very weak beings and are afraid of their own shadow. So they created ways to kill beings more powerfull than them so they would feel safer sleeping at night
Go with the Anne Rice description. Fire burns, sun = fire, chopping off the head kills, other then that they are pretty much untouchable. And the V:TM description of stakes, if it stops the beating of the heart then it puts you in Torpor and you are like in a coma. If the stake is removed then the heart reforms and blood circulates again.
Humans seem to wish to think they are gods and can kill everything they do not understand. Part of that may be a fear.
Honestly....this thread is the same as asking why there are still people who would threaten witches!
There are people out there, who can not, or will not accept what they percieve as being either "insanity" or "odd lifestyles". I mean, come on people, if there are people willing to murder a man/woman for being gay, don't you think there's gonna be people out there willing to kill us, do us harm, or at the very least try to have us locked up?
As far as the hollywood stereotypes go, not many people bother to read up on and understand the finer mythology and legends that go along with our kind. Plain and simple, they do what they know.
I hate to quote a movie, but like Tommy Lee Jones says in Men in Black, “A person is smart, but people are dumb and panicky.” May not be verbatim, but you get the point. You tell one person and they are much more capable of rational thinking and reasoning. But tell a group and the fear and paranoia of one quickly spreads like a disease to the rest of them. After all it’s much easier to follow the herd then to be heard.
As for the stereotyping, vampires are considered creatures of the night. And just like other nocturnal animals avoid the sunlight for natural reasons, sensitive eyes, skin, etc. As for garlic, come on, I’m not a vampire but I can only stand it in small quantities, that stuff is strong. So if it overwhelms my senses I’d hate to think what it does to a vampire’s senses.
Humans merely exaggerated these tendencies to make themselves feel safer. Sunlight kills, garlic repels, and as for the staking, holy water, cross, I would say thank the church for that. It was just another way of controlling the people. “Vampires are evil undead, bound to Satan, embrace the church in order to save your soul from their evil clutches,” and all that kind of crap.
This is just my own ranting and raving about it, my 2 cents worth.
I believe that the reason for this is many. Like the crucifix thing was not put into lore until christianity started getting big and the christians looked at vampiers as demons or devils and that was thier way of getting people to side with them, by saying het this symbol (cross) will kill the vampire. And the other things well i suppose that man has to be on top, since with the powers that vampires have make them "better" than man athey made lore of how vampires could be killed so man would end up on top.
all we can say is be care ful who you tell, because ter are people out there that believe they are ampire hunters and will try to drive a stake in your heart.
I know have had afew friends attacked from another site,so be careful.
Hollywood tries so hard to re-create real life in the movies but most of the time they fail. This is true about all topic.
please do not forget that Hollywood has to please the masses. unfortunatly the masses are....well........ not that bright! and that is how idiot cinema was born!!!
MY thought on this is that some people are afriad of "evil". and they make up stories in order to make other people fear the same things. what do you guys think??
movies are made for the money, hun, not the fact of things.
they will change the true nature of a bunny to a rabid beast that can turn into something of incredible size and strength, just to make a million bux off of it...
if curent day movies were about fact, then the movies would be more like a soap or a lifetime movie event.
I think people are just stupid. Most people fear what they can't explan or define easily. Others believe everything they see in a movie, which we all know is wrong.
It would be stupid to tell an enemy when and how u gon' kick they ass.they would be able to plan their move as well.vampires are smart b/c they r so mysterious and secretive.they keep the real answers to themselves and allow the dumb asses who believe that shit to keep passing it on.that way vampires can have time to........ (take care of them) ;) Don't tell the enemy how to kick your ass.
people will never understand other peoples culture or anything peope always want to make their own judgements

Ok so the dramatized hollywood endings to vampyres is a bit shall we say "Out there" even for us. However there is an old saying "No matter how great the wizard a dagger between his ribs will severly cramp his style" When it comes to things like the stake to the heart or removing of the head I always felt these were no brainers. Sure lut me rame a foot long stale through your chest or cut off your head and see if you get up.
Let sight never be lost that human is still human no matter the life. While the spirit will live on bodies are still destructable.
Most of it is hollyweird and literary misconceptions. In any other horror story the bad guy has to have some sort of weaknesses....and a lot of the vampire weaknesses have came from folklore or other legends. The sunlight is used because that was made to be a curse to a vampire...along with the undying hunger. That's my take on it
Funny thing is, If I were a vampire, I'd be happy that most people bought into the myths of beheading, staking and holy water, staking out in the sun and garlic. To me they all seem either very hard to accomplish or easy to escape from. I mean it takes strength and skill to handle a sword or ax enough to remove a head, not to mention getting your prey to hold still for it. Staking also takes strength to force a wooden stake through someones chest to the heart . I don't believe the water or garlic would work but would be a way of confusing the hunters to ease a vampires escape. While the sun might be uncomfortable and even burn the skin I think it would take long enough for most to either escape or be freed by someone else. Silver bullets are both expensive and it's a soft metal so not easily made into bullets though if they are used they would kill whoever they hit if used accurately. There are so many other ways to kill that making hunters focus on these alone makes good sense. Just my opinion.
