So i'm staying with these three little girls the other night. Their ages are 4, 5, and 7.
The youngest one (who doesn't even know her ABC's yet) walks up to me and hands me a piece of paper with greek scribbled all over it. When I asked her about it, she simply said,"It's letters!" and smiled.

Has anyone else experienced this??

staying with them? you mean babysitting them? hmmmmmm.do you know if their parents are into the occult? it could be nothing more than something they copied off of something they read.

very true, they might have copied it from a book cover, or a picture of something?
always try to dig for a rational answer to something before labelling it occult, that word gets tossed around far to much, not saying the occult isn't real, in fact i have a lot of faith in it, but I also like to live as a skeptic. makes one sound a little less "flaky" like many of us pagans tend to...

Very true, try to dig for a real answers before jumping to conclusions. But truly the children of this day and age seem to be more intune with the earth around them. My best friend's children are known for being able to see beings beyond this plane. They have been speaking of dragons and faerie's since, well, they could speak. Her daughter is named for the Queen of the Faeries, Morgana LeFay and she has a strong connection to the faerie realm. Things don't get lost in her house, they disappear and then reappear in some random spot, sometimes in other friend's homes.

Her son has been having dreams of the future since who knows when. They are so vivid he thinks it's reality. This can very difficult as he is mildly autistic and the line between reality and fiction is already blurred for him.

We have always said they carry more magyck in their pinkie fingers than we can contain in our entire body. They are blessed and we continue to help them down the path of understanding.

This has hit my intrests.
First I would find out if their parents are in the occult (think someone already said that)

Then I would try to find out from the kids what they know about the letters and so on.

It is highly possible for it to be memories. I know of many stories where children born within the past 10 years will have extreamly vivid memories about WWII. One story for example was of a young 5 year old boy who was found under his bed screaming that the planes were coming agian. Further investigation showed that he was talking about an air raid in London.

Anyway I am very intrested in learning more about this case. Please send me a message if you will.

yes keep in mind I am not saying to discount possible abnormal reasons, just exhaut thr rarional first before looking to the supernatural...too many jump straigh into maybe it's something weird before actually researching what else it could be and end up overlooking the obvious

I agree with everyone and you must do your research first and see if something they have copied of there parents. I do beleive people are gifted in many ways but its good to have all the facts in place.

The others are right. If you care enough..or nosey enough..then please, find out where that kid got that symbol. It could be a cover of a cult book,or witch craft.Or maybe..they watch too much adult swim..and they got it off that one show..Full metel alchemist.

If you can't find any other logical explanation, it may be possible that the kid was having past-life memories.

Try the logical, I think. Then if not, resort to the unexplained. My friend, when she was younger, was drawing the pentagram and had no clue what it was until she was older. She just happened to like drawing that symbol.

i just saw another question about too much T.V. and book influences and the letters that were written and i figured i'd answer (missed it last time i looked due to lack of sleep -_-)

hahaa :) as much as i would like to be able to say that Dora is indeed evil, I don't think it was the T.V. , however, i wasn't there after 6 every day, and their parents aren't that . . . parently. so it very well could have been something they saw on T.V.

and the letters weren't in any particular order, but i think i still have the paper she drew them on, so i'll try to post more later if i can find it :)

I dont know if this counts.....but.....my son has shown signs of vampirism since he was 2 yrs old. I was eating rare steak by the computer one time.......never introduced my son to steak like that....he walked over to my plate snatched a piece and ran off.....comes back and says "more mommy" so I gave him more.....it was cute. I also had to get him to stop biting his sister, but that is common in a lot of kids. Now that my son is 7....he has mentioned to me when I feed him steak if its cows blood that comes out and of course I am gonna tell him yes and he says he loves cows blood....

I just wanted to say that as a mother of an 8 year old and another baby on the way.. Our Children are very impressionable. They will learn from us and repeat things they see or here us all doing as adults. If you talk about vampirism or cows blood to your child.. then I would think that he would see eating a rare steak a treat because mommie likes it so much. And just to point out.. " Eating a rare steak or "indulging" in any type of blood does not constitute vampirism in any form of the word. Other than Fetish.

i know that that question wasn't directed towards me, but mothers are connected with their children more strongly than any other two things i can think of at the moment. It's a natural thing and of course a mother would be able to have a better understanding of how she thinks her child will turn out.

it is entirely possible that there is a deeper meaning...but I still say more than likely they may have copied them from somewhere, the human brain is a lot like a computer after all in that things you see are recorded almost permanently unless you aquire brain damage, it's simply a question of accessing the info your brain has stored

Strange and interesting, nonetheless.
I believe you said it was the youngest of the children who did this? Was it she that wrote it, or an older one? Are they all exposed to this sort of thing or only her? Like said earlier by another, I think it IS possible that this is from memory of another life. Good luck with this!!

There are too many threads for me to take in, and I need to get this out. Have we gone over or figured out that "greek letters" are not occult? Duh, it is history, archaeology, modern language... do I have to go on? Perhaps teachers are introducing children to steps it took for our "ABC's" to come about, whilst they teach them their "ABC's." Heck, I would probably piss myself with joy if my 4 year old could remember and tell me what Greek letters stood for.

Well it sounds to me the seven year old might have copied it down , then had the little one bring it to you.. But i can see how that would scare you kids will scare the hell out you . It`s the innocents of a child at those ages , and for one to bring you a paper with writing on it that is scary .. But i would`t read to much in it just yet, just keep a watchful eye out just in case anything else weird happens ...

I am wondering... I don't watch any of the child-focused anime, but I do watch anime. Does anyone know if any of these perhaps have a Greek influence to their plot. I know there is "Full Metal Alchemist," and I have caught a few, true alchemy symbols in that one.

Parents can't do that to their kids though. It's just shitty parenting... if somebody said that to me about my daughter, I would think about where she might have seen it or learned it at all. If it was from me then I'd be proud but bah. I don't know. Parents are stupid sometimes.

It's never happened to me, but they probably just copied it from somewhere. Don't get too worked up about it unless they start talking in Aramaic (sp?)

Not to discount anything as a possibility, but I too feel that the obvious possible answer is usually the best to explore first. To me, it would seem that the best place to begin would be with the children themselves. Ask them questions. We can oftentimes be amazed at the amount of information that children, regardless of their age, can provide. If that did not give you the info that you sought, then I would move to the next logical source...the parents. Exhaust all lines of questioning with them to ensure that you haven't missed any plausible possibilities for where the children might have picked up on the symbols, etc. , including repetitively-watched television shows like Charmed, Full Metal Alchemist, etc.

Haha...I'm like Mulder...the truth is out there...

I waited to see how this thread would run glad to see Strig and Daer here and that it is a coverstation rather then random statements....
This is interesting that they would bring this to you.Kids are getting smarter it seems I believe it is due to sensory input, from TV, Computers, you name it..
My suggestion here is maybe a game they play would have these symbols..
What I feel though is that they might indeed be something very special and that those letters (symbols) are a message they needed to give to you and you alone......

My son is the age of the girl in question and he too has written letters from other languages but he has also been exposed to them either from school, education shows, travel or my own books. He enjoys drawing and coloring and can easily remember and write out letters, does it often. He knows what the English ones mean and how to spell words etc but the other languages he only knows that they look cool and enjoys writing them.

It’s possible that the girl in question has had some contact some where in her past (Not past life) and picked up the letters or remembered how to write them.

Children are very bright and impressionable especially with languages at that age. Does not have to be anything occult or paranormal about this occurrence.

actually ANY language is occult, why does everyone only equate learning with latin?
can an occult cocept be taught in a language...
then that language can be used for occult purposes
we never said the kids learned greek letters from occult, the question was simply where or how, was it subliminal viewing from somewhere, past life, cartoon, game, who knows...

Unless there was an even cursory understanding by the children on what they had written, I'd be hesitant to say that this was anything other than copying from another source (school, tv, book, etc). Admittedly, I'm a bit of a skeptic so I have that strike against me. However, if this was occult based (witchcraft or ceremonial) one would think there would be a basic understanding before the letters were fully realized. Symbolism is first a connection or a feeling and then later a specific sign.

The only occult based answer that seems even halfway credible (and even this would seem far out) would be that the child was shown or taught to draw the letters by a spirit or ghost. That would give enough reason as to why the child could draw them so well but have no understanding of what they were. However, one should realize that with all the people (living) that a child comes into contact with, a living 'tutor' would be my first guess (aunt, grandmother, teacher, neighbor, other sitter, etc).

It's actually nice to see this topic.

My granfather just passed on sunday, and while my nephew Justice (3 this December 26th) ran up to me while I was in the phone giving the news to some friends of mine.

"PJ, the dogs are so barky-- can you hear what he's saying?"

It surprised me a bit (having seen my great grandmother's form above his bed when I went to visit him), and I asked him if he could make it out. He just smiled, giggled a bit and ran off into the house after chasing the dogs away 'from him.'

As I'm adopted and this part of my biological family doesn't even know who I am to them (I'm always introduced as 'the friend from Orlando, PJ'), I felt perhaps I mised my chance to speak to the man-- but now in his death he knows who I am to him.

Maybe he can relay the message to my grandmother without her flipping out (she's bipolar) but yes, occult-inclined kids are indeed considered a godsend in a way to us here in the Haven household.

I think, logically speaking, we have to consider the possibility that children are so often the masters of creativity. Perhaps, as has been the case with my own children, this child was simply drawing (somtimes translated scribbling), and the results were these "symbols". Is that so truly out of the realm of possibilities? The key here, and I'm NOT excluding any other possibilities--only playing devil's advocate--is to keep an open mind.

I wouldn't be so quick to say they were supernaturally gifted. Children pick up things in an instant. A split second glance and they can spit it back out like a recording. That's why they says it's easier to teacher children a new language than an adult. Their brains are less cluttered.

Let's look at both sides of the coin, shall we? Children are notorious copycats. That's how they learn to live in this big bad world of ours. How do you teach your child to speak? You talk, they listen, they attempt to mimic. So, this child may simply be mimicking something she has seen somewhere...be it from television or from her parents (or other family members or friends or neighbors--so many possibilities).

On the flip side, this child could very well be intune with the supernatural side of life. I'm most definitely not one to push aside that notion! Children have yet to be taught that the mystical is foolish and therefore they are more open to it. Also, I believe in psychics and mediums and what have you. This child could be something special.

However...the words translated to cow/bull (and other non-threatening terms)??? What's so 'occultish' about that? Sounds like she was just scribbling gibberish. *shrugs* You may never know...until she's taking Sylvia Browne's place on Montel, that is. *smiles*

The child could be writing the Greek from a memory of a past life, or she could have seen them in a book and decided to copy the letters. You never know. This is something that requires more research, but there are a lot of theories that everyone here tends to agree upon

children in many ways are more psychic than ourselves. This may be to do with there senses being more attuned and open to experience on different dimensions . Maybe this is an omen or something carried from a previous life.

to answer several questions, i looked through the house as much as i could without "snooping" and couldn't find much of anything with any kind of foriegn writing on it (the closest thing i found was a spanish dictionary ) however, that's not to say that the kids weren't still influenced by something else. I asked the little girl about where she saw the letters and she just shrugged and smiled :)

In given time, simply ask the child to repeat the drawings.
If she is able to do so from mind, pen / pensil to paper don't fear it, simply ask her while you have her attention to "tell you what they mean."
If she can answer this as well, you may have a prodigy at hand.

I would not read more into this that currently meets they eye though.

Use your bond with the child to investigate the current mystery. Then use Your Inner Truth for a means to deal with it.

You said it had greek scribbled on the paper. Did you mean actual Greek? Or did you did you use the work greek as in "it's all greek to me"?

Again, kids that age are prone to copy things they see. Perhaps there was a painting in the house or maybe they copied a book jacket

Someone already said , Kids are like sponges, so I wont repeat it, she probably learnt it somewhere. Where are her parents from? if theyre english is not good, chaces are they were born in north america. in leaning towards more of, they werent lol

kids learn what they live. parental lesson number 1. kinda like monkey see , monkey do.

take my little sister for example. She wasn into goth and marilyn manson when she was 8 years old, all because I did. Kids look up to other kids, or if not other kids, theyre parents or someone they fond of, someone they have a connection too. keep babysitting them, and chances are, they start copying the things you do too.

Felix: from this I would assume you don't believe in reincarnation, it could also be past life regressions

Daermon - I'm not sure I believe in ghosts or spirits but I was working from the suggestion that if there were an occult answer, the child didn't know the meaning, feeling, or understanding beyond that of a letter. Your answer would work as well if the past life were that of a person who used the greek alphabet for nothing more than letters. But really, I still suggest that a living and mundane answer is probably the most credible or at least most likely.

I'm inclined to believe it's nothing of much consequence. So many before me have mentioned that kids tend to pick up things. This is how anyone learns. Not just children. An interview with the child might ease your mind if you're overly concerned. Also it wouldn't be wrong to question the parents. What exactly is so wrong with a child writing in Greek? Why would a parent be offended by you asking about this? You might even find them as intrigued as you. Or they might be able to provide you with the answers you are seeking. My advice would be to go straight to the source.

When my neice was 1 and a half years old she not only drew shapes but whole faces with eyes ears hair and everything else....and you could actually tell what it was. And her younger brother at the age of 3 was tested and was found to have the IQ eqivulant of a 7 year old.

As the actual "vampire" existed only in the Slavic accounts of Eastern Europe (no, vampires cannot be found in almost all cultures just because other beliefs exist in demons or creatures who might share a trait also ascribed to the modern fiction of the "vampire"), if the truth is to be sought re: who and what the original "vampire" was and is, one must go to these earliest of accounts and not the later fictitious bastardizations of same that resulted most recently in Stoker's "Dracula" and all subsequent Hollywood-esque fictions.

And should one do so, one quickly discovers that the primary traits today considered "vampiric" did not exist prior to about the 17th Century. The only trait still found in modern fiction that was originally factual is the belief that the "vampire" (upir', vapir, vampir, etc.) was one who had returned from the dead. As to why they had returned and what they did following that supposed return... well, to discover truth from fiction, one must study the actual first-hand accounts of all such as reported by the Slavic populations of Medieval times.

a child of that nature if their parents are into such magic then it wouldn't be unusual to see a child copy their parents or learn that before what society sees normal as thier ABC's.

it may not be the parents, it could an old spirit of the child touching the surface of present time, things like this you just have to research and observe the child more.
