I have noticed that people bite alot around here. Considering this is "Vampire" Rave, this is expected and considered normal.

It gets annoying when people I don't know bite me. Even more annoying is when a guy bites me.

Why do you bite someone?
Is it because they are hot? Or because you want to befriend them?

Do you get annoyed with bites?

State your opinions on biting here!!!

Well as a premium member I can block all biting, so far I have chosen to not. Frankly, I am very easy going, layed back so it doesn't bother me. I mean, even if someone adds me to their friends list and accidentally forgets to tell me, I am ok with that. It's like, people have to be so cold on here, the world is a cold enough. I don't mind being bitten either. I am open minded in general and don't have all these hang ups that some may have on here. Rules and regulations as some members have stated in their profiles & then they block you when you don't follow them, I say lighten up already :o) This site is fun, so lets keep it that way.

This is a function of VR. As the previous response said, if you don't like it, you may purchase a Premium Membership and use the 'Turn Biting Off' function.

Otherwise, you will have to learn to live with it.

It does'nt bother me at all.

Alot of people use the bite just to introduce themselves and say hi.

If anyone should become bothersome then I would simply block them...it's not a big deal.

My opinion... It is what it is!

Additionally, opinions on this subject don't make for a good conversation thread in the general category of the Forum. Again, my opinion.

Wasn't there a poll question posted a while back, in reference to this??

here it is aform of greeting - a way of saying hello. like shaking hands or hugging someone. if you don't like that sort of thing then you dont really want to be involved in a social network. rather like all those people who come online to say how terrible modern technology is and aren't computers absolutely awful. duh! if you think that why are you using one? a bit likein the sixties and seventies "folk" stars like joni mitchellwould sing songsabout how evil greed and riches are, and how we should reject materialism - then come off stage to scream and rant for their money before jetting off to another venue.

It's annoying as all hell because it eliminates the need to say something. Basically, rather than introducing yourself and saying hello, these people just press a button and the introductions are left up to the person who's been bitten.

I block everyone that bites me (generally). I have quite a list going...

I could care less one way or the other. But, what does bother me is when the same person keeps biting you over & over again & you have never even spoken to that person. That will usually get a block from me. I have the options to turn my biting off if I want to. But, who knows, I may just get a bite from someone I want to actually bite me one of these days.

Usually it is just a beginning opener for a conversation or a way for someone to say hi. However some have used it as a way of flirting with me, it really just depends on the user and their intentions. It doesn't bother me a bit and if it did I would just tell them, if that doesn't work as a premie I would turn it off. Its only a big deal if you make it one.

This is a vampire site. Vampires do bite don't they? I don't mind bites at all. I do on rare occassions use the option myself. To me, it's just a simple greeting like saying hello, or giving an old friend a hug. Is it really that hard for the other person to think of a response, or way to start a conversation after they have been bitten? Some people are a bit shy, but still try to establish friendships with others. In some ways, I think biting is easier for them.

In real life if someone I didn't know where to come up and bite I would feel violated and upset. But here on VR I come to expect it.. And take it as someone passing by greeting me hello.. I bite when I want to say hi or I want to spark up a conversation.. I don't take it as a come on.

I have no problem with the 'biting' function of VR. I did though, for a while, block the option because I was getting countless amounts of biting from people I didn't know, and then they not even trying to start a conversation. To me I think of it as a friendly hello 90% of the time. The other 10% I know are just biting me because they think I am HOT. Which actually gets annoying because I want people to know me for me...not because of my Look or they want to hook up and/or cyber..
Otherwise ladies and gents....bite away!

I find the bite is a fun way to say hello and would you like to talk a bit? I use it rarely and mostly with friends but occassionally I'll talk to someone new by using it or getting it. I like it and yes if someone became annoying I'd block them and just move on.

i want to see what if people would like to see two different kinds of biting...

I think that they should be sexual and friendly..... I want to see if others agree with me.... if yes... i will talk to Cancer personally and see what he says... I think it would be a nice feature.... even though this is not a dating site, i would like to know peoples intentions on biting me

is anyone with me on this?

My reason for biting someone is to say
hello to my friends. I do understand it being annoying for some people, but I like the attention myself.
It shows me that someone thinks of me and am worth biting. Which in my opinion is a great compliment.

About the two bites. It is not a dating or sexual site in anyway, one biting option is sufficient.

That is just my opinion!

I do not mind biting, but I prefer that people send me a message so I have something to respond to with a little more than "thank you"

I have decided to block it considering some people were abusing its use.

I don't like it to be used if there is no reason, if it's as an ice breaker which is its use according to the Manual, I'd prefer to receive a long message instead, usually I am able to make conversations if the person says something that interests me, it seems elite but I prefer it that way.

I get bitten alot and I sometimes bite back.
I do it for 1 of two reasons
1. I Think they have a profile worthy of being bitten
2. A bit of flirting (But Harmless flirting because I'm Married And Love My wife.
I however put in my profile not to bite me if your under 18.
Because I feel it is not appropriate.
I do block those who are under 18 and bite me anyways.

Yes indeed. I do not think my husband would be pleased if someone started to send me "sexual bites" and with all the little ones on here, it could easily be abused and misunderstood.

A message saying hello I think is much better, then you show an actual interest in getting to know a person.

I have a few on here that I bite, just to let them know I have not forgotten them ;-)

Keeping to the topic, I don't mind biting. However I typically don't use it either. I think too many times it is used to break the ice into a conversation that is similar to:

Hey how are u?

Good and you?

fine.

....

....

zzzzzzzzzzz

*wakes up* Anyways, with the idea of a sexual bite, I doubt that would ever happen. Too much liability with the 13-17 year olds and frankly I think people that want that, create their own.

I had that same "conversation" I mean verbatim.. lol If you bit at least chew some juicy fat with me. I mean how about, I wondered since you replied to such and such a thread if you knew about such and such perhaps/ I mean then we would thin out all the spontaneous threads( a few of which I have put up). I like to use bites when I have limited time on line. A quick way to let people know I noticed they where noticed in my online list. But sending an informative message along with a bite is a no brainer- in that case.

I think since this a is a "VAMPIRE" theme website it is mandatory to have a bitting system. Otherwise....it would'nt go with the theme.

Did you ever seen a vampire just go by and say hi often? no.

Did you ever a see a vampire go by and bite often? Yes.

Conclusion. vampirerave = bite.

While it is appreciated that people try to assist with the forums, it is far easier to send a Dominar a message than to spam the actual thread about an issue or potential break in VR standards. :)

Biting is a fantastic conversation starter; however as I read in one profile "I prefer conversation as a conversation starter."

It has always been a pet pieve of mine that biting does not have a message added to it... which is why I made my own bite stamp.

It anoys me when people bit me and do not have anything to say, or are incapable of being open about themselves enough to hold more than a one sided conversation.

If you bite me... I will talk to you!

I enjoy the biting feature but wouldn't want it made into a sexual bite as I'm not here to find a date. I almost never use it but I do like having the option.

I like the biting option. I use it if I think someone is really good looking or if I want to get someone attention but am not really sure what to say to them at first. I am not bothered by it at all and I have a premium membership but have never disabled the bite me button I think it is fun.

I understand the point of the bite, however, I dislike it.

Why?

When I have been sent a bite, rarely has it ever been followed up by a regular message. Just all of these bites without a "hello", or anything else for that matter. And when you get more bites than messages, that can become slightly irritating. I responded to maybe 2, at the most, but after that, I would instantly delete without paying attention as to who sent it.

Luckily, someone very kind gifted me with this PM, and now I am able to shut it off.

I have tried to get an extra feature idea going. It seems like no one wants the two types of biting. I do keep forgetting about the minors running around. There could have been tweeks to the feature in order to only allow the 18 and ups to have it. It doesn't matter, it seems.

For those who were insistent on closing this thread back up, pay attention and just because you don't care doesn't mean that others don't. Some people may have enjoyed the option of said feature. Quit Being Rude. Have A Horrible Day!!

For the rest who have tried to help with this. Have A Wonderful Day and may your Diety (or lack of) bring you your wishes. Thank You for your responses!!!

I agree with STABB666 on what he had said.

I think it is the most rational way to view on the bitting function, here on the Vampire Rave.

I personally might have reasons for the specific bite, but mostly it is to say hi.

A bite is a part of the chat/message, a part of the interaction here on VR.

What ever reasons people might have for biting, it is altogether their right, as long as they do not spam those bites.

I think its a novel idea simply because this is a vampire site however, I switched mine off because if I think if a person wants to start a conversation me then start one by saying "Hi how are you" as I am more likely to respond to words rather that a picture.

Even if a person is shy, saying "Hi" cant be any more embarrassing that a bite. It's not like anyone can see your red face either way now is it? ;P

Actually, I have rarely gotten bites in the almost two years I have been on VR. Maybe I don't chat enough..:)
Regardless, I do not mind the bites although I think I prefer them from someone who I know....rather than an introduction.

I prefer conversation as an introduction.

But it is part of VR. I have a premium account which gives me the option of turning off the biting, I have had no reason to do so as of yet.

Some people bite because they think the person is hot. Others, like myself, send them as a way of saying "Your profile rocks". I haven't sent any in a long while though and haven't gotten any myself in the past 3 years.... *shrugs* If you don't like it then just turn it off.

I wouldn't mind be bitten here on VR, I just think its a sensual thing even if you don't know the person well. I bitten people here on VR that are on my buddly list because I speak to them all the time and we always have a lot in common. Sometimes I would start the biting or they would it all depends on the mood

I bite my coven mates and also stalk them! I do bite someone if upon reading their profile they state" feel free to bite or stalk me" I will. I don't assume to bite anyone, however I do and will bite anyone who bites me. No I don't take offense if someone bites me. I hope that the person who bites me doesn't just do it because they think I'm hot, but because my profile interested them. This is a little bit of innocent fun. I like the biting too, I appreciate when someone bites me, it's like they have broken the ice and said hi, and I usually bite them back, gives me a chance to look at their profile, rate them and see who they are. It would be interesting feature to have another biting system for friends, then you wouldn't have to go to their profile every time, that's annoys me more, especially if you talk to them a lot.

I like the biting feature when it's used in moderation. I've blocked it on my account because it was being abused by certain members. I had a few guys that would bite me over five times a day, and that just became annoying.

I don't really like the idea of two different bites though. I think there should only be one. It means different things to different people. The way I see it is that it's meant to be taken however the person being bitten takes it. It is a really good ice breaker, as people above me have pointed out.

Custom bites can be interesting, but if a member has turned off biting, it was probably for a good reason, which is that they didn't want to be 'bitten'...
