I have seen plenty of Vampire Houses around the States and know of some across the great devide called the oceane.

Most cities have leaders for these houses...Some cities have elderships and councils instead of a one leader force.

Whether they are in the RP world, or acting of their own accord to keep things underground, is speculated. 90% of the elders and council members are highly respected adults.

They have earned the respect from their peers throughout the years. These houses and elderships, are adopted by all in each city for things they have done for their communities.

SOme are advertised on the telly, such as the house of Kepheru run by one Michelle Belanger. Now as we look beyond the cult phenomenon, the glamour and the loathing for some of those in society that think they are real vampires, let us imagine for a second that these houses, elders and councils have been established for a reason.

My question to all, is this:

If you knew of a house, a council, an eldership...Or whathaveyou on your side of town, how would you react? I am not looking for brief answers such as "I will look into this". I would like some straight forward thoughts concerning this thread.

For the sake of Roleplay answers, let us consider this thread to be of sanguine and psi-vampires. do to obvious reasons.

As well as it does not matter the way you feed, just the way you "handle" your bussiness.

Well, I am sure my reactions would be overall positive, since I would see it as a potential house for my self, where I could conduct to my own buisness, and other practices.

I would have to look in to it to get details as well, since I would have to justifie my positive reactions in that usefull light worth consideration.

I would have to check into the leadership it self, in order top prove it as usefull to me, and not abusive, especialy if a house, a council, an eldership, are accepting new members.

It could prove to be a right move in many perspectives.

I think that I would love to know that such a house, a council, an eldership existed here close enough that I could contact them.. We do not have any that I am aware of here in SC close enough for me to be offiliated with..

I would learn as much about them and the way they operate things there. I would also get to know the members and the higher ups if you will, and possible look into forming a friendship with other like minded individuals such as myself..

Depend what the drive is behind them.

Some may just be covers or have sinister intentothers could be harmless. If you wanted to look into it I'd say just be careful.
But as for myself I am still believing vampirea are solitary hunters who are aware of each other.
The idea of house's and such still confuse me somewhat, I man you have all this power and no human social restraint (ultimate freedom really) why would vampires enforce a code of control when all vampires would know to be stealthly??

I would indeed be glad to know that the culture is spreading to my area (especially given that I live in friggin' Texas), and would take immediate steps to learn what it would take to join said House.

Hmmmm...A House in my area. i would believe I would have several feelings about this.
The first would be of interest in meeting and getting to know these members.
The second would be to judge whether or not this House would be a threat to me and mine. Sorry Predatory Instinct.
Having considered whether or not they were a danger I would seek to expand my knowladge of them and thier way of life.

It might be interesting to learn about but I doubt that I would participate. I would not want to subjugate myself to someone else's rule

I personally, the only issue I would have would be safety. There are many people who claim to be things that they are not just to lure victims in to vicious realm in the disguise of something alluring which here would be Vampires. Since by trade I am an investigator I would investigate the business as any other. If it is legitimate and brings no harm to others than they will have my support, gratitude and assistance where needed.

I don't feel especially concerned with how close the living vampire community is geographically. I find them interesting and have friends that are in it but find that overall it's unrelated to my life path. I think that for the most part, these communities are relatively innocuous and any harm from bad leadership or bad press in such a community is likely to only fall on it's members or the living vampire community as a whole.

i would love it and i think it would be great to see more vamos were i live and i would look in to it as long as it does not affect my life and the way i live it it is ok by me hell i might even see about joining a family is always a good thing

I am more of a solitary person with my practices so i think i would just try to stay under there radar . I just prefer to practice by my self .

I'd find it interesting and possibly try to infiltrate :) All in all though, I don't think I'd find it concerning unless they posed specific danger to the people in the area.

If the ends were to justify my means. Where I gained from the union, and didn't lose. If it was doing things that allowed me to better myself and gave me the resources to do it.

Then again. Are not the masons such a group of guys getting together for the same ends anyway? Despite not being overtly Vampiric they are a perfect example of having one in your neighbor hood so to speak.

The community itself wouldn't concern me, rather the individuals of the community. I suppose my reaction would be a bit mixed. As long as the general attitude of the community is kosher it would seem as no more than additional neighbors. However, all families have their members that "act up". It would be those members of that community that I would be wary of.

I'd have the nervous jitters at meeting my new neighbors, but after that i think i'd enjoy having new attitude & personalities join the neighborhood. Would be some new people to get to know & lots of things to learn from them concerning their beliefs & thoughts on different matters.

I would wonder if they were the real deal or not. I would also be a tad bit weary since they need to feed on someone....I myself am not a vampire and wouldn't want to fall prey to one. If I didn't think they were a threat then I would welcome them into the community.

I forgot to mention that as long as it hurt no one around me that i cared about or infrnged on how i live my life i wouldn't really care . how people live there lives really doesn't concern me . as long as they don't bring harm to others

I see that throughout this entire thread, the majority are very cautious as they should be concerning the dangers of any type of house.

Not letting any "secrets" out, some houses in the states are a bit of a motley crue but are not sanctioned by any of the formal councils within the areas.

Infernal is correct, the masonic families are a bit like the vampire populous with a couple of easy to see differances.

As always any individuals who are out of line in any way within said structures are ultimately frowned upon and at times expelled from the communities.

As this city I call home is run by an eldership, which the families are widespread, with houses in and around. No one has authority, the respected individuals are merely there as guidance, mentors or whathaveyou. No rules or regulations...Save for governing yourselves accordingly.

i would honestly want to investigate and get to know the people involved. just to see if maybe it is something that i might want to do or to be afiliated with

As per response to Alixaryon, my answer is as follows.

I do not pay much attention to media advertising such as what we see on the telly concerning occult houses as found in New York. These are a Motley Crue that should be ignored at all costs. Mostly dilluted individuals practicing their passions in uncontroled environments. Mostly out of fantasy and roleplay.

That being said, I would speak with one or more of the elders contained within which ever house is within my city, find if they are actually sanctioned by the nations themselves. See their rules and regulations for membership. Find out how many members they have within the environment. How much of a turn over they have within the community, as well as their reputation.

Many cities openly share this type of information with you. As I have stated before, many of the elders are respected adults within the stuctures. They take the eldership quite seriously as anyone should and have been elders for many years.

How would I react? I would respect any individual who actually takes the initiative in sanctioning a house or eldership within the community if they have earned it. As well as feel safer within the community since it becomes a tightly nit environment.

Many of the members either become very close friends, or have been for quite some time without you even knowing they were members to begin with.

If accepted, I would deem it nessessary to earn my place, climb in rank, try to establish a state of harmony within the environment to where the respect earned is a privilage to have...Since in order to become an elder of any kind, this is nessessary.

Your answer, you points, it seems like you are very well/perfectly fit for a Master Vampire. ;)

The feeding issue would be a concern but in this day and age and they have a well established 'house' they have set donors available that would not effect the community.

If I knew of such a House as this in my area I would most interested in becoming a member of this community! How fascinating to find a community such as this real time.

With relief, it has taken me over two years to get close to a underground organization of the vampirisms life.
I have haunted places and drank absinth in clubs, by chance a member noticed me reading a book about vampires on the train to work and approached me a while ago.
We had some drinks on and off and he mentioned lady Louise the head or elder, I have started to talk to her on a medium called MIRC where she has a forum that changes and is totally impossible to track ( iv tried) …. Well to cut it short I get to meet with them soon.

It is not the fact that they are underground, they have been out in the open for quite some time actually. Though it is not advertised on the telly, or in the local paper...Less coverage the better.

I am not asking as a non-member, but as a member within my city, wondering about your thoughts as they partain to locations around you. It is not nessessarily paperwork required toward membership...The Sanction is paperwork, but the membership is a respect issue alone. Either you are, or your not.

I have been doing studies and making a list of the entire nation as a whole, for the communities of the nations. Since it is quite a long list, I deemed it nessessary to choose a thread so entitled to ask opinions on others feelings toward such ideas as these Houses, Councils and or Elders.

Though the states are very active when it comes to the societies, I feel that the Europian populous is either about the same, or greater...What are your thoughts?

First, let me make sure I understand the premise for your question. It seems as though you're trying to feel out what the public's response to these Houses would be.

If this is the case, then is this the best place to ask? It would appear that on a vampire-themed website, the response you would receive would be overwhelmingly positive, which most likely would not be a realistic picture. Have you begun asking this question outside of the subculture?

Of course, seeing as how you asked a question first, it would be rude if I did not respond. I would be very intrigued by a house making its presence known in my community; a pack of wild bulls probably couldn't stop me from learning more about the house. Hell, I couldn't stop me if I tried.

Actually, you may be surprised at how many negative reactions come with certain topics relating to any discussion concerning the vampire. As with all discussions relating to any topic, negativity follows suite.

Which is why the question is thrown out there. As well as my own opinion.

I am an individual. I have no desire to affiliate publically with anything that is going to endanger my plans of self advancement.

That being said, I would check them out. If they are a positive catalyst that aims to help then they have my support. My affiliation after my trust. And that is hard to gain.

As a vampire I have a desire to have others who are likeminded. But if they offer no mutual benefit then there is no reason to join or even acknowledge. The Self before the group in all situations. Not the other way around.

I would be concerned if there was a coven or house near my place.

First of all, I would be concerned for my safety. If there were more vampires in my area, I would worry about being attacked.

Second of all, I would be concerned for my coven. As the leader of my coven , it is my responsibility to look after the members of my coven.

Thirdly, I would then have to worry about being overrun by a new coven.

That would be Chateauneuf De Vernoux all over again.

I'm sure once investigated somewhat and I find they are just another harmless 'club', I would be more at ease with them being in the community.

My first reaction would be of the nature of Wow,where I am from that just doesn't happen,you envision a town with tumbleweed rolling through the streets,everyone would most likely lock their doors.I,on the other hand would find a way to approach them and prove that I mean no harm,it is where I belong,I would want to become one with them but my only fear would be losing everyone I love but in the long run: Would it be worth the effort to belong to something that embraces me for the first time for what I am?

I can see that being in my geographic region it wouldn't be so "shocking". I would not mind learning more about the community if it were allowed for informational purposes. I'm not sure if my religion would clash with it's (the houses') tenets.

well i'm in los angeles here where just about anything happens. we have several very vibrant scenes in the first place, including that of the vampire scene as well.

i have met a few sanguine and otherwise vampires, but since it seems that i have met very few "genuine" types vs. those caught up in the role play, i doubt that i'd join a house here.

Asfor me it would be great, but it would also have to be investigated to see if I believed the same way they did or even close and if not then it probably would be a headache to me then.

I have been a solitary vamp for a long time and met very few like me around where I live, but if it followed close to what I believe it would be great.Then I would have a place to go close to study and learn more, but the closest place around here is about 2-3 hrs away and it is not my type of house, so it does me little good to go there.

I wouldn't be concerned, "to each his own" i say. Although I am not psy or sang. vamp i know enough about those lifestyles to where I know they are very consious about the outside world. They keep whatever they do to themselves, and respect their surrounding's. I wouldn't care if they lived next door.

I would try just get in at first as a visitor and get protection than eventually I would like to hope that me, my husband and brother would be allowed into the house or coven.Than we can pratice our ways around others and we would have positive influnce from the others in the house or coven and not negitive if we were alone on this matter in our area.

I say this because I find conversation with the vampuric human side to be very enticing as it is one of the few that makes me think.

First off i am not going into a large detal about said subject. Yes there are ouncels and yes we have elders there word may may not be law, however they have earned there place in the community, and should be respected at all times that is how i see it.

I would not mind there being a house or affiliation of vampires be them sang or psi near me. In fact I might endulge in becoming affiliated myself. Although this would depend greatly on the house's adgenda and/or politics.

I would be concerned at first about safety of course but my intrigue would get the best of me and I would have to find out more about them. Most of the vamps I have come across here bow then find the nearest escape route from me, only a couple have came to talk with me. Ha! That would be the first thing I'd love to ask, why do you bow at me then run away???

The vamps I am referring to are the ones I come across in clubs in San Francisco.

I think it would be great to have another house around,but I would check it out and meet the Elders and members.I have alterior motives as I am an Elder and Founder of a Clan as we call it.So i would hope they would be respectable and come talk with us as we were are the only one around the Area I live in.I'm all for more of our kind to learn from and alliance with if at all possible.But if they tried to cause any trouble I guess we would have a conflict. i would see if there was a way to learn from them to see all life in a different view. beside who would pass up finding out the truth about alot of thing that are not explained.

If I ever found out there was one around where I lived. I would try to find out more about it.

My curiosity would be more of how did a vampire house establish residency in my community. It can be troublesome to legistically operate a business establish such as a vampire house. Even if it was not a business but a residential house, there are zoning issues and archaic laws on the books allowing only x number of people residing in the same place.

No Vampire Coven sets up shop in my town with out my consent! If they had my approval, I may help them to flourish. Without my approval, I would command the opening of the Gates of Hell and let the beheading begin!

I would seriously look into it and see what they do and practice when they meet and what they believe. Maybe look into some of the people in the place see how they are and act.

First of all ,roleplay is not reality.So I don't know how to answer this except to say. I do belong to a coven and have for many years.What are you asking?
Why would anyone have the right to say what one can or cannot do in the privacy of their own home.

If they were doing good by the community, and weren't causing harm to anyone, I doubt that I'd care. I however would be skeptical on their claims of being vampires.....as I am with most.

I think the thing here is education on what a vampire is regardless of databases. Even in the community it is not the same for all...there are sects within it like anything else. I personally believe there should not be so much hush, hush about something we think to just be a natural state of being for some in society. There are those that have their own group set ups that they want to keep private and to be in the know and belong you must join. It's no different than the Masons or any other organization. Be sure to investigate so you are willing to follow the set up but as for the general community how can anyone set themselves up to tell others how to behave? It must be as anyone in society, you must be discerning about your actions and if you are acting as a representative at the time of the vampyre community at some function in that capacity, then you would want to act accordingly.

I would also be cautious because anyone can set up camp and say they are anything on or offline. Usually you can get references from others in the community. I would enquire as to their philosophy and if it matched mine and I was comfortable I probably would join or help out in someway if needed.

As far as where I spend most of my time...I'm in NYC/ Gotham and there is high activity of Clans and households so if you know about it, its the norm for certain areas.
As per where I live.....
If I heard of a forming of a clan or household I would honestly have to laugh because of the area. Im surrounded by "thugs" and "gangsta's" so I would just look at them as another gang with fangs.
But giving the chance to prove themselves, I would try to speak with said members to see what they are about exactly.
I have seen people pop up with a self made title and causing havoc on the community so I would see where their priorities stood. I have no right to say who is or isnt a vamp so as long as you are not bringing negativity on the community as a whole and bringing problems to my already screwed up neighborhood.....I would welcome them and offer support where needed.

Depending on how I would view them. If I knew them personally I would probably have more of a solid decision. But in not knowing them I wouldn't know if they were planning to cause a problem. I would however attempt to get close to them as mostly for my own curiousity.

I know of none so I would react with interest and hope that I may join them

I would check it out before I involved myself...but what they did would be their business and if I didn't like it i would just withdraw myself...I don't see anything wrong with them having something going like this for themselfs...

I would likely seek a role in the society as a lackey, a sort of retainer, the reason? Network, to be a lackey or retainer to such society has fringe benefits I image to include travel, convention, and other functions, all that would need coordination from day able persons. I have been a lackey in the service of a dominatrix, I learned the lifestyle, as a Dabbler this is what I do.
