Since it is my understanding that vampires do not have a soul, when they are unfortunately destroyed can their entity or life force goes to heaven if they repent their sins at their end and god supposedly forgives all sins. Or will vampires forever be damned by god and not let passed the pearly gates of heaven if they repent.
Must depend on the fictional world those vampires inhabit as to what happens... from most fiction, they are released from evil and pass into good/saving their soul.
Well, he wouldn't of been much of a vampire if he died anyway!
I think that if you are soulless, that you can get into heaven or hell. You would probably just be a wandering spirit in the realm of nothingness.
This thread is a real sketch! In all vampire stories the Vampire never dies, and well if it happens he either has his head chopped off, or has a stake through his heart so I don't think he would have time for a confession.
This goes back to the 'Are vampires human or soulless beings' debate.
I believe vampires are human and therefore have a soul. Yes, they can repent and be forgiven. No, they are not mindless, soulless bloodthirsty turning intp bat-like creatures who run around draining the blood of innocents.
*as the slayer plants the stake int he vampire's heart the last words of the beast were* I am repentant..sorry...*dies*
okay joke aside, I I think nether, I think the vampire will simply sleep eternally, not aware of anything, and feel nothing
I can only see a vampire repenting for his sins if he has commited any just like a human ... they are preditors and to feed like another would not be commiting a sin to be forgiven for. It's the cycle of life.
Remember your Dracula and Hammer movies? Whenever one is staked, they are always mentioned how at peace they are and at rest their souls are.
yeah, who really is to say one is with or without a soul? you really can't
everyone looks at peace when they die! hence no life... LOL
Vampyre do have souls, and all living creatures were created by God, we have the same choice as all living creatures, the freedom of choice and the freedom to choose a good or an evil life. Vampyre are welcome in the kingdom of heaven as long as they too live good lives, our choices here determine the outcome of our deaths.
Well in the movies there damned to hell no matter what they do lol
True thats what I thought but god is said to forgive all so how could he damn them to hell interesting isn't it
hey we are not soulless... or heartless... our soul is just............ hidden
I think it depends entirely on how you see them. You could look at them as just an animal that feeds to survive like all other animals and therefore is surviving on their instincts through no fault of their own and should be granted access to "heaven". You could also see them as evil creatures and they should be damned to hell.
I agree with boneyardvixen. Human = souls = a chance to go to heaven. Make sense to me.
depends upon if you believe in a heaven or not. and, if you believe that saying "oh chit i'm sorry" is actually effective in earning your ticket into said Place.
UTAHVAMP, I think you're right to a certain extent. Everything created by 'God' has a soul.. so the plant that is used to create an addictive drug. It has no choice to be plucked or not, does it need to repent and save it's soul or is there a 'plant heaven'?
For me it would depend on what you mean by repent? If you are reffering to the judao/ christian meaning then this does not apply to me
a vampire with no soul would have no soul to save.
a vampire witha soul to save would have the same choises as anybody, and the same chances.
I think a vampire can earn a soul by doing good deeds which could possibly save him or her from eternal damnation.
The fact is we do have souls a quote from armond says it best " I know nothing of god or the devil i have never seen a vishion that would damn or save my soul". So if you are talking about the christian point of vew on "salvation" i guess it would depend on if you beleve in such things.
God died for everyones sins, I think vampires fall into everyone. :]
In my opinion, the soul is immortal, that's the part of us that passes on. If vampires are the living dead, and don't have a soul, there's nothing to go on.
However, if vampires do have a soul, I think the same rules and standards apply to them. It's the deeds and morals of a person that makes them evil or good, not their race, species, etc.
hmmm a the drug that was made from the plant was made by a man, in which case we misused the plant and have sinned, like weed, it is a good antiseptic, a healing herb, but man with his hands learnt to smoke it and get high lol. So it is the choices we make that determines our worth in the after life.
I honestly feel that vamps of all forms have a life force... or a soul... I would speculate that much like being "born" homosexual (which i believe) you are also "born" with certain abilities or gifts... therefor if one were to believe in god and we are all born in gods image... i would think that a vampire would be able to be forgiven of all sins and accepted into hell.... even the worst of the worst it says in the "good book" are welcome into gods arms once they accept jesus into there heart.
In believe that Vampires, the true ones not Hollywood made, I believe they are not evil, that they can have a chance at "heaven" or what not. Everyone has a chance to ask for forgiveness, just what will they pick is all that matters.
isnt it if u repent your slate is wiped clean? so whats the diffrence...i dont know i havent even touched a bible let alone read one
I like the fact that someone can kill one or more people in cold blood.... pray some and say I repent! Gets forgiven and can move on like someone who lived a good life...
This thread and repenting is bascially what each person thinks and feels and using their own religious beliefs that helped to mold and shape. Even if you no longer attend church, you still have what was taught deep down which still helps to influence.
Some people believe vampires have no souls and others believe they do.
I can not believe vampires have souls. they are the living dead. they may have feelings or "heart" but to take the lives of others for your own survival is pretty much "Hell-bent" I'd say!
Hmm, I guess it depends on the mythology you look at. I think it would be interesting for vampires to have emotions, thoughts, personalities, without having souls.
If they existed only to hunt and drink blood, then I would doubt they could get into "heaven" or hell...
"Dear God, I am heartily sorry for all the human death I caused. I didn't really mean to take such pleasure in blood drinking, and any orgasms I experienced while doing so are utterly regrettable." Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa.
Works for me.
honestly who the hell knows... thought vamps didn't really die.. they turn to dust.. or some other fictional ending that holly wood has pounded into our minds LOL
What if you don't believe in heaven or hell (as discussed in a previous thread) then surely there is no need to repent. also what may be seen as a sin to one person may not seem like a sin to another. It's a matter pf perspective!
Glitter, actually it was Jesus Christ that died for our sins, not God.
There is a VERY similar topic like this one in the forum so please be careful. But, I seriously believe no one is truly damned. They arent souless. They have to start out with a soul, or if no soul then they just simply become part of the earth again wouldnt they?
Bloodmother! You said it hands down!!!
If the church says you are exonerated from your sin by a few hail marys and our fathers, why not!
The essence of that exoneration of course lays in how strong your faith is, I think... or am I blethering again?
I believe you must want it to really get it, if anyone asked then anyone would get in to heaven and no one would be in hell.
hmm this is all depends on if you believe a vampire has a soul if they do then they can repent if not guess there out of luck.
Oh and Polish trust me not everyone looks at peace in death.
Ok well a psy-vamp definately has a soul and we are not necessarily evil. The "club" vamps are real people with souls who drink blood from willing donors and obviously can die the same as any other human. Both would be judged as all humans are.
As for "movie" vamps - never met one so I couldn't even begin to guess
Well you are speaking of fictional vampires. Those in folklore vary but fictional it depends on the whim of the writer involved and if they wrote it from that perspective.
As for the community that claims to be vampires it would depend on their belief system as to whether they even address that concept and all of them are human. As for the soul part I would say they all believe for the most part as a high percentage but not all, believe in reincarnation.
I highly doubt that vampires are even concerned with the idea of repenting.
Speaking mostly because a good majority (not all) think they live forever and don't really follow the whole Christian worship of God.
Damned by god so to hell with him is this what you mean
First, BloodMother I LOL'd. =)
Second, I could never really buy that Vampires didn't have souls, or that the souls left after the human was turned. I think if the Vamp retained any kind of sentience, it also retained some part of a soul, even if that soul was degraded, or degraded over time. Now, the mindless, zombie like "Me hungry, eat brains" version of the Vampire killing machine...I ~might~ be convinced. But as a whole, not so much.
...and repenting is for suckers, and only because you got caught. *wink*
In Gods eyes, a vampire is an evil creature with no soul and has no right to be in heaven.
Nor can they go to hell.
Well if the worst of the worst of humanity can repent on their death bed and pass the pearly gates, why shouldn't a vamp??
(Hell's more fun anyway)
ChaosBleed how can you say hell would be funner if you have never gone?
Why wouldn't a vampire have a soul? They have minds, therefore a consciousness. They have energy and movement and a personality of their own do they not? So they have souls...It is impossible for a thing with conscious thought and not have a soul.
And the people who truely believe you can slaughter and say a few hail mary's to get into heaven are about as ignorant of Christian teachings as the arrogant church-goers who prattle on about atheists and 'vampires' going to hell.
I hate to tell the arrogant church-goer's this, but it is in the bible that they are to love all and not judge others lest they BE judged in return. Funny how they miss that sentence so often.
I also hate to tell the people that believe a couple hail mary's forgives all this, but it doesn't always. First, you have to honestly regret the sins. Then, you have to ask to be forgiven for each of them (an apology for the ones you don't recall also works here). Lastly, you have to believe that the slate is wiped clean and go on about your life in a good fashion that doesn't imitate what you asked to be forgiven for. If you make another mistake, you pray to be forgiven and try not to do it again...over and over and over...each time it occurs. However, if you are not trying and don't regret it...Opps. Too bad for you. This is a psychic with empathic abilities. If you know it, he knows it. If you feel it, he feels it. Every thought you have ever had and every feeling you have ever had.
As for the vampires, they each have an individualistic personality and therefore can and are judged accordingly to it. Why wouldn't they be? A vampire is NOT as immortal as believed. There are always deaths in vampire stories. Always...Even if you are not paying attention to it. Determination of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell is based on each individual and whether the good outweighs the bad. If you have asked to be forgiven for a sin you regret and wish to be rid of, it won't add to the debt of either side of the scale, but watch out for the ones you don't regret and the ones you didn't ask to be forgiven for.
And atheists...I know a good many of them. Most haven't been told anything about Christianity and therefore are not judged by the same rules. It is still based on the good outweighing the bad, but the sin of not accepting him falls on the Christians who crossed this person's path and didn't even bother to try to discuss it with the atheist if the atheist was curious.
Christianity is not to be forced on people who don't want to hear it, but you can offer if they want to know. It isn't the fault of the religion that some overzealous arrogant pricks tend to piss people off at churches and therefore the God they are supposed to be representing. God also told them 'to be humble in his works'. Pride is a sin. Hipocracy is in my eyes the worst sin of all, because it makes non believers hate Christians. How is that in accordance to the Bible's teachings?
Personally, I have read the passages that state clearly that God loved Lucifer ABOVE ALL OTHERS, but was forced for his own sake to punish him. That doesn't mean he stopped loving him, ya'll. It broke his heart to hurt someone he loved. I imagine it still does to this very day that there is a rift between them. How would you feel if you loved someone more than any other in the universe and were not able to agree and sit with them without arguing until you couldn't be near them any longer? If it was your lover, your child, your best friend, or a sibling...
Gays are not bad people just because they are gay. Atheist are not bad people just because they have not learned that they are loved despite their disbelief. It was pointed out to me the other day that even an atheist had faith...They go to the doctor believing this person can help. They take medications believing they will cure. They drive believing they will get to where they are going. So if they have faith in the things they do each day, why is it unbelievable that they could someday have faith in other things...still unseen?
If a hungry wolf slaughters a sheep to feed herself and her cubs. Is she a monster to be damned or another creature of this world fulfilling its purpose and helping the cycle of life to continue around? If god or any other higher power allows a vampire to exist than it is simply fulfilling its purpose.
Anybody can repent even a vampire as to the fact of them not having time cause of being kiiled all it takes is a sec anyway.
Since when did Vampires become bible thumpers and keel to the power of prayer? Have I missed out on something in the latest espisode of Vampire drama?? *scratches head*
I think perhaps the soul is defused and used to florish the virus in the body the vampire is no longer in possession of the soul but gets feed back from every fiber of the virus weaved in with the tissues of the preserved carcass perhaps the consiousness dispersess slower then the soul so that the symbiotic virus doesn't shock its self it erases and rewires the conciousness. If a vampire receves a blow that does agravated damage that erases the virus and disturbes it then perhaps some of the soul is used to regenerate the tissue there for distilling more of the souls trapped energy.Going to the light As little sprinkles swept up in the outer winds of limbo or if they once believed in the faith purgatory.
you have to believe in purgatory, to want to repent to avoid "going" there.
Purgatory is where the unrepentent sinners go limbo is for the self imprisoned those that cling to material and trivial anchors. So if a vampire is not concious of what they do then that would make its soul heavy enough to sink to the dust of limbo. If a vampire is "cured"buy one kill blast say a nucular detination then the remaining traces of soul in the organism would excape and shot into the continum vacuum.
Well lets see….. pearly gates were invented and not real or even linked… common myth.
Heaven a place full of fanatics that killed each other in the name of god … would be rather like Israel n Palestine by now me thinks with bombs n feathers everywhere. Lol
No I doubt very much the undead would want to get in there… better to rain in hell than slave in heaven
I really believe it's what ever thier belief of the after life is for them. The afterlife is what any person believes it to be. If they believe they will go to a higher place depending on that belief of a lower place if you will.
Well...to put it succinctly...if we're talking God and heaven here...those vamps broke a few commandments...and if they die....their visiting Lucifer...:)
Or does this basically go back to what some fictional vampires are evil simply because they are evil, vile, undead creatures they are? Because they are what they are, that makes them evil under god - so when they staked, or whatever is used, they are released from evil's grasp and are now free to under god's graces in heaven.
Mind you, I'm going back to our basic Dracula, Hammer movie which is what several authors and movies convey.
ok just becuase A vampire is a vampire DOESNT mean he/she wont die someone will eventually stake them
and i think if that person was turned to a vampire that the soul of said person has already went to heaven when the human died and the vampire continued to live
I really dont think a Vampire would have time to repent but I also dont think that they have a soul so hopefully that soul went somewhere good before they got turned!
So are you saying there is some place for inmortals to go when they die?
I would say no -- without a soul -- you can't repent --
Vampires are supposedly the undead...
If they repent BEFORE they died considering after is kind of too late...yes they probably would be let into heaven because even though they are seen as evil they kind of aren't...they are victims...well before they are bitten at least.
Vampyres have souls just like everyone else so if something is done worth repenting for Im sure s/he would be forgiven. As far as the heaven or hell thing...I cant speak on because I dont personally believe in a burning fiery hell.
All living things have souls. When they die, they die. Or maybe they're reincarnated. Or go to Heaven.
It all depends on your beliefs.
a vampire is te after life of a human when u think of it..... its life after death.....
Is this thread for real??
Wow, ok, um.....
For one, even IF vampires existed and they were to actually die, depending on whether or not they chose to be a vampire I guess would depend on whether they go to heaven or hell.
If you didn't have a choice in the matter, you can't expect to not feed just to make things right. Of course, you can't kill yourself either because that's apparently a sin also.
You might just be screwed either way.
i think that in the movies when a vampire dies they turn to dust because they have no soul to go to heaven or hell. it's the before they become a vamp when they still have a soul they can repent.in real life when a person has vampire desires they are not soulless and is able to repent there sins and will be washed in the true blood of our god.
I would think that in they way you stated your question that the anser would be yes they are damned for all time
In terms of fiction - Vampires do have souls! They are viewed as NOT having souls by the people who FEAR them. To the ones who are being preyed upon, the vampires are seen as being evil. This isn't always the case.
Also - It depends on whether or not you believe in heaven and hell. I don't really, my belief system is different. So it depends on what perspective you are asking from.
And I agree with an earlier post - In most vampire stories, the vampire doesn't get a chance to repent!!
ponders how to answer but is a good question but yeah i would believe just dust but i would actually believe knowing me lol
I think vampires like anyone else has a soul and depending on the life they chose to lead would determine if they go to a good or bad place. Just like animals they are not condemed for their feeding habits and if you have a will donor then you are not hurting anyone so you would be good.
I guess if they were vampires, they must be evil. So I'm guessing vampires would go straight to hell.
REAL vampires have a soul.... the fiction that brainwashed you doesn't exist.
I also disagree that Vampires dont have a soul. Everything living has a soul even the flowers that are on your dinning room table that you brought home yesterday to bring spring indoors have a soul.
In the bible soul and spirit are two distinct things. I see no reason why a vampire could not still repent assuming they are souless in the first place. Of course depending on what their major sin is in the first place.
Well first of all we have to establish that vampyres really exist. Then we need to know that heaven exists as well. If they both exist then I would think that they would be forgiven if they repented. Because according to the Christian faith God forgives all sins if you ask for forgiveness.
Only newbies would beg forgiveness, repent, be frightened of what came next.
really old souls would plan their own deaths, probably write some poetry, or at least read some, drive up the coast one last time. . . or if they slipped up and someone got to them (probably another vampire) they'd say, "oops . . ."
LOL, bloodmother.. ROFL
I think thats the best post yet.
MistressBloodDiamonds --- you are a true connoisseur (connosewer?) of the deeply-pondered post.
Hold on a sec...what if said destroyed vampire is a Buddhist? or a Native American?
They don't do heaven from what I remember...
Guess they have nothing to worry about, then.
Answered my own question, didn't I?
I guess it really depends on the vampire. Like humans vampires have their own beliefs. I think if they believe in god and heaven that if they repent they will go if they die.
Depends on what religion we're going by. One must be careful not to exclude Buddhist vampires!
But I guess, it's the same principal. Can a vampire reach nirvana/heaven/whatever those nice places after death are?
I think so.
I believe that they have a soul. Any being with conscious thought and emotion, in my books, has a soul.
So if we're going by the thought that humans can get to heaven, then it would be logical to assume that so can vampires.
I do not think that a vampire would be allowed through those pearly gates merely on account of repenting, however. I think that they would have to be essentially a good person...vampire...being.
I have to say that if you believe you are a vampire, and you are in this bodily form, then yes you can repent and go to heaven. God says in the bible EVERYONE will have a chance (for those who believe in that road to truth).... for those who don't then, I am sure what ever your beliefs supply would apply.
I think this would strongly depend upon the said individuals belief system. If they believe they are damned and will go to hell then so it shall be.
If they do not believe in heaven or hell, then their soul will go where they believe it will go.
well i guess it would depend on the believe of the vampire the could go to heaven, hell, val'hala, hades, or where every there belief take them but yes i think there soul are "saved"
without a soul -- I doubt anyone or thing could repent -- when it dies --- it would just be nothing..
LOL I am pretty sure everyone has a soul regardless of what they are.
If there is no soul ,, you can't repent --- The soul is what ties us to God ..
I figure God created all creatures, Vamps and Lycans alike. Does a cougar get comdemend just cos' it needs to feed?
This thread is got a lot of differing items to addres...
You say, "Since it is my understanding that vampires do not have a soul..."
There are several discussions on whether a vamp has a soul or is souless. Most of the time they are determined to have a soul, since they have free will and can act as they choose, whether it be for the sterotypical "good" or "evil".
You continue with, "...when they are unfortunately destroyed can their entity or life force goes to heaven..."
Now you have to make the assumption that there truly is a heaven and that the common belief of Christianity is that all who ask for forgiveness are let in to heaven.
But you also need to consider that there may not be a heaven. If there happens to be a heaven, you may need to consider that just asking for forgiveness may not be enough to gain access.
The short version...
Yes, they have souls. Yes, they can go to heaven if they meet all of god's requirements for entry.
